Clean and Contemporary - the two C's that make The Row Bar stand out from other outdoor bars.
Located in the middle of Restaurant Row, The Row Bar is already in the center of an amazing area! The M is right next door and people often pregame at The RB before the club. Also, there are quite a few offices in the area, so it's not unusual to see people grabbing an after-work drink.
They have $4 beers during Happy Hour and the service is ALWAYS great. The workers are friendly and quick, and the outdoor feel adds to the open ambience. Four TV's located around the circular bar make it the perfect place for game watching, too.
One of my top bar choices.
TIP: From 5-7 pm on tuesdays and thursdays there's live, acoustic entertainment! Very relaxing to accompany an after-work drink.
I absolutely LOVE this place! Â I rarely dish out 5 star reviews but this one is well deserved. Â I used to be a regular when this place was Bambuu Bar for several years and I loved the space back then. Â I was sad to see Bambuu's close, but the Row Bar took this space and made it even better.
Because it has a roof covering the open space it doesn't even need to be particularly nice outside and this is the place to go anytime of the day. The Row Bar has 4 TVS so that you can catch all of the games and is encourages Cigar smoking customers to come and smoke and drink whiskey. Â Once you find the Row Bar you'll see what all the fuss is about. Â Very open, comfortable space outside. Â A very diverse crowd always makes for interesting people watching.
They make great drinks and have a decent beer selection as well. Â I've always had prompt, friendly service as well.
I highly recommend The Row Bar for anyone that likes having a good drink in the "great outdoors" in Honolulu!
I sometimes go here after work or during lunch. Â I really like their caprese pizza. Â It is delicious. Â The wings are pretty good too. Â The only thing that gets me about this place is that the service is kind of slow. Â Sometimes it just takes too long for the food to come out. Â This can be kind of bad when you have to get back to work at a certain time. Â The last time I went, their card reader appeared to malfunctioning, but instead of saying something right away, they waited a good ten or so minutes to tell me they would just keep my card until after work. Â I just gave them cash and wish they had just said something sooner. Â The food is good, so I will probably come back. Â I just hope they pick up the pace a little bit.
Review Source:What's sad about this is the Row Bar used to be one of my favorite hang-out spots. Â I usually wouldn't let one bad experience damper several other good times, but that's the most disappointing about this experience. Â The fact is, I have patronized the Row Bar many times prior. Â My last night there was a nightmare. Â I was meeting three friends at the Row Bar. Â I frequent here so much that the waitress remembered us. Â She asked if our Micronesian friend was joining us because the last time he was there, I guess he only left her a dollar tip for $100 tab. Â
First of all, I don't agree with tipping low but I didn't understand why she even brought this up. Â And if she hadn't brought that fact up, I wouldn't have noticed the intentional bad service she was providing us. Â I have tipped her very well EVERY time I've been there, so I didn't understand why she was taking his mistake out on us. Â I ordered a water, which took her about 15 minutes to bring out. Â
She never even brought a pizza my friend ordered and asked if she should just cancel it. Â I spoke to the manager who was basically useless. Â He told us that maybe she was having a bad day. Â After complaining TWICE, he gave me a card for five free drinks, which I don't plan to use because I never plan on returning to the place. Â So I handed out the free drinks to people at my work and I mentioned the waitresses name and her attitude to all of them.
What's sad is I have had good experiences with the Row Bar in the past, and this particular waitress was very good to me in the past, when I tipped well. Â But, she made herself look terrible by taking out my friend's mistake on us and disregarding the loyalty I have had to the establishment. Â The manager was the most unprofessional. Â I have complained one time prior to a manager at a restaurant, and he didn't make excuses for his employees and offered to resolve the matter with the customer. Â That's what someone with common sense would do. Â After all, the customers are how they make their money! Â Unprofessional service, probably not a place you want to frequent on a rainy day because it is outdoors and not worth the hassle.
Row Bar @ the M...
Still probably known as the cheapest Martini's in town. At $3.50 a piece, you cant go wrong!
Decor is kinda stuck in the early 2000's, but I guess that's about to change. Service is kind of stuck in the early 2000's as well. A bit aloof, kinda slow...
Bring a group of your friends and good times will surely roll! Nice little spot to let loose and relax over a few beers...or some Grey Goose. The more the merrier!
The Row Bar is my go-to place after work these days. The food is good and cheap and the drinks are strong. The servers are cute girls and the bartenders are hot guys. The guy they have playing live music lately is awesome. Only time I skip out on the Row is if it's rainy or cold, because it's all outdoor seating.
Review Source:I would often come here for pau hana, usually to watch sporting events. Â I had not been back since the reopening, but last Friday, I went with a coworker to catch some college basketball. Â Over the course of an hour, we ordered 5 drafts, 2 for me, and 3 for my coworker. Â We noticed whenever we ordered, the bartender (whom I've never seen before) didn't seem to be running any sort of tab. Â Eventually, we asked to check out, the bartender, without referring to any sort of tab, informed us it would be $24. Â 5 drafts at $4 apiece, tab should be $20. Â We asked him why we were being charged $24 instead of the correct $20, and the bartender stated, "Oh, I just assumed another bartender brought another beer." Â Where do I begin? Â It is obvious therefore, he was not running a tab. Â He walked away as I was digging through my wallet, and as this was happening, I commented to my coworker that this is how bartenders pocket tabs. Â They don't ring it up, throw out the number it should be, and pocket everything. Â Not exactly an uncommon practice in the industry. Â Bartender came back, and I gave him my credit card. Â He took the card, and as if a lightbulb went off in his head, he looked at me and said, "If I run the card, the machine will charge you tax. Â Wanna pay cash instead, it'll be cheaper for you" Â Where do I begin again? Â Do I look like I just fell off the turnip truck? Â You enter the number, that is it. Â The credit card machine does no such extra calculating.
I'll of course come back, I like the place, but 2 things ... watch your tab for a bartender stealing from the house ... and sorry owner, you have a bartender stealing from you.
Great little spot if you're heading to restaurant row!
Outside but sheltered, plenty of seating, fun and friendly. Smoking is okay (not that I do, anymore).
This is our meeting spot before going to dinner and the after dinner cocktail spot as well.
One thing - while most liquors are reasonably priced, the Jameson is NOT. After we ordered and drank a round of Jamie neats, we realized that they charge NINE DOLLARS for Jameson!! What??!
Other than that, we're happy little campers at the Row Bar. Â :-)
This place has the potential to become one of my favorites. Hopefully the new management will be able to create a somewhat casual but still classy atmosphere for the casual cigar enthusiast in me.
The staff (although just guys for now) is friendly and helpful.
Edit: You really need to hire GIRLS!

$3.50 martinis if my memory serves me correct!!
pear martini...soooo goood...
nice spot...outdoors...
no food, but there are eateries close by that you can bring with you...
bartenders are on it :)
cheap drinks + good service = happy tes
While this place does not have food, (but free popcorn! and Im a sucker for popcorn) they have awesome drink specials all day. Â $3.50 martinis that are delicious and plentiful. Â I like the Lime, Pineapple and Pear. Â They also have $3 Miller Lite Drafts all day, plenty of tvs to watch sports and its never crowded. Â I like coming here after work to unwind by myself and enjoy a few drinks. Â Or bring some friends to booze up for cheap, and eat ridiculous amounts of free popcorn.
Review Source:What is up with the businesses in the row? For one Subway here for one does not toast their sandwiches... what up with that? anyhoo, I just moved into one of the buildings above restaurant Row and wanted to find a new morning watering hole. the closest Starbucks is about eight blocks away so instead of strapping on runners to my feet I walked down to "the Row Bar" now known as Bambu. Â what can I say... Â $2 got me an water flavored iced coffee (hot coffee poured over ice - I could tell cause the 2 ice cubes that were in the cup were almost melted by the time I took my first sip - and the liquid was still warm) Â and $1 for some sorta danish looking thing which was ok. yup. conclusion. Avoid the ice coffee, and if you don't mind a 1/4 mile walk, bike hike den id skip the spot and go fer something a little better.
Review Source:Sandwiched in the middle of downtown, you'll find this watering hole referred to as "The Row Bar" (which got it's name from the neighboring Restaurant Row) or as it's now called "Bambu."
It's tucked out of the way, so if you don't already know about it, you're probably not going to find it anywhere else (besides Yelp of course!). Â Don't let that fool you though, it's unintentional isolation doesn't mean that it's not a place worth checking out.
Any night of the week, The Row Bar makes a great place to grab some drinks pau hana, catch up with your ohana, or even meet up with a blind date (I've done it).
On weekends, this place gets a little bit more busy since the nearby Oceans808 is a popular hot spot with the clubbing crowd. Â That makes it a gold mine spot to people watch and make some new drunken acquaintances, or just sit and sip on one of their cheap-but-amazing martinis.
Oh, and did I mention they have a popcorn machine?
En route to Oceans, we stopped to sample the martinis. The menu offers a nice selection for every pallet from fruity flavored (orange, lemon, lychee, watermelon) to the standards (cosmo, dirty, etc). And a good number of them were on the $3.50 list. With great friends, cool breezes & relaxing ambiance, there was much fun to be had!
Review Source:Don't really feel like dressing up, going to some club, or to a busy bar to wait for 15 min. for your drink? Â Are you looking for a place to just chill, relax, enjoy the open breeze, watch the game, light up a cigarette while drinking, or buy your lady a $3.50 martini all day, all night, every day? Â Bambu Bar is the place. Â Cheaper drinks, breezy atmosphere, nice staff, not crowded, relaxed environment, and they have like 4 big screens to watch whatever game/fight is on. Â But say you want to go to a club/bar afterwards, Oceans is right next door. Â There's also a sushi restaurant, Roy's, and a steakhouse. Â I bought my wifey a martini, actually two of them, and I bought a couple of shots and soft drinks. Â I spent under $30, tips included. Â Cheapness!
Review Source:Now called Bambu's. Â
Draft offerings are great and the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. Â It was spruced up a bit this past year so it sports some new asian benches with pillows and umbrellas. Â
I like the natural breeze and the open air concept. Â It is ultra casual so I love this place when I just want to sit back and relax with the boyfriend. Â They have 4 tv's playing sports and news so it's even more chill. Â It would be a great place to catch a game.
We also grab drinks here after work (430p), so it's a cheap place to come for pau hana. Â No food though... (only popcorn)
I work full time in down town and go to grad school so the fact that I can walk to the Row Bar/Bamboo Bar during work when Im feeling over whelmed grants it 4 stars instantly. The drinks are poured healthy, enough to keep me content though the fact that I have to be back in the office keeps me under control.
I usually have a few shots of SoCo, the price is reasonable, honestly they could charge me double cause Im not about to be the guy that keeps alcohol in his desk lol. I also like the fact that they carry Ciroc most places dont, chilled ciroc is a great refreshing drink that dulls the senses enough to make co-workers almost tolerable and push school deadlines to the back of my head.
Keep in mind that my rating is based solely on convenience being that I can walk here from work in about 5 minutes.
I always order lychee martinis from here. They line the rim with li hing powder, too! Can't have just one. :) It's lip-smacking good!
The bartender was okay. She seemed to be having a bad night personally because she was making a lot of racket, but she always had a genuine smile when she served us.
That's my chill place when I'm not in the mood for a club. :)
They changed the name of this place to Bambu Bar and it had been recently renovated with new chairs, stools and tables.
It was pretty much dead when I stopped by. Â My friend likes to smoke when he drinks so I recommended this place to him.
There are several large screen TVs and a pop-corn machine. Â Other than that, pretty boring place. Â They did have Chimay beer though, so that is a plus on my scale.
The bartender was nice. Â He seemed happy that people actaully showed up. Â I doubt if this place will last much longer, I think they need some advertising on TV or something. Â They also have a menu from the pasta place that you can order off.
Overall, I guess the place is okay, but with some advertising, special events it may survive? Â They also validate parking.
A totally casual, divey, local bar in Restaurant Row. Â ESPN is always on. Â Seems every time I visit, the number of patrons gets to be smaller and smaller. Â With the closing of Oceans, I wonder what will happen to the nightlife at the Row. Â I had heard they were going to remodel the bar, but it clearly hasn't happened yet. Â Mixed drinks are okay here, so I usually order beers. Â The water tastes funny...
