Murphy's Bar & Grill

For the Downtown/China Town area, there really is not better restaurant or drinking hole!  Murphy's has been around for a long time, has a prominent location off of Merchant Street, and has some awesome, old town New York style architecture and décor.

Ah, but it's the food and drink that drive traffic to Murphy's.  You must make a lunch-time reservation or you may stand around watching everyone else eat for up to 60-minutes.  They have a great selection of booths or stand-alone tables in essentially three separate rooms.  The ambiance is rustic, the food is too in many ways, and the service as always been top-shelf.  

I went there recently with a few of by Bank friends for after work drinks and pupus.  Their Happy Hour prices were very reasonable, and the crowds relatively young and hip.  

Murphy's has a special place in my heart because of their willingness to help others. When Aloha Airlines closed, me and my many friends that suddenly lost our careers were hosted by Murphy's for an outdoor street festival and fundraiser.  That's class, and that's typical of the folks who own the place.

They have Deshuetes on draft. Service is good. What more cold one want??
