Hmm. Dragon Upstairs! What a RAD name! Walk up those stairs, with gigantic blood red dragon mural... and it magically transports you back into time, Chinatown, circa 1930. Dark, mysterious, and what's around the next bend?!
The live jazz/blues music is top notch. I know since my brother-in-law, NY trumpet professional, Mike Lewis (name drop), plays here sometimes when he's in town. Couple of weeks ago, it was another group of cool cats, and it was as good as ever.
Stage literally on your lap.
The music and vintage ambiance is probably 5-stars in my book, but the lack of bar "ingredients" and a somewhat pushy waitress lowered my review to a 4.
Basically I was told they were making me a special martini, but I ended up with something that tasted like a watered down cranberry seabreeze. Oh well, I drank it. Waitress seemed somewhat standoffish. Idk, maybe I didn't wear Axe cologne that night, or she just wanted to push the drinks quicker. Gosh, im so easy to please! Something about tall, young, smokey eyed Asian women... That- you owe me look. All good, I'll be back.
Tip: Yelp Check-In when you arrive and a $3 drink deal should drop in.
Also, Hanks Bar is immediately below Dragon Upstairs. Yes, walk upstairs (hence the name) to see catwoman. Meow.
