I've been keeping an eye out for Indigo to reopen after they had a kitchen fire because I still have a LivingSocial and Groupon voucher to use. Â After seeing some new reviews popping up, I got a few friends together and headed there this past Friday.
I had heard that they were remodeling but to me, the interior looked the same. Â The only big change I could see was there were less tables, maybe about 1/2 the amount as previously. Â The other big change was the menu. Â They're now running a tapas style format and I'd say it was hit or miss. Â
What we ordered:
Goat cheese won-tons
Shrimp lumpia
Lobster potstickers
Duck Mu Shu rolls
Roasted eggplant
Chilled Fanny Bay oysters
Steamed monchong
Braised duck leg
Overall, I'd say the food was good. Â The won-tons have been a staple there since they first opened and are always tasty. Â The duck mu shu and the duck leg were also pretty good. Â The best dish was probably the monchong. Â The fish was done perfectly and the brown butter sauce was killer. Â I did want to try other dishes but unfortunately they were out of some dishes even though the place was pretty much empty. I do think some of the dishes were a bit overpriced, too.
The other (temporary) change was that they don't have their liquor license yet. Â Happy hour has always been the reason I go there so hopefully they get it soon. Â If you're planning to have some cocktails there, call ahead to see if they have their liquor license. Â The one good thing they're doing is not charging a corkage fee while they're dry so if you want to byob, that's good.
I still have another voucher to use and my friend has one also so I'll surely be back. Â I'll just make sure they're serving liquor before I make a reservation.
Indigo has reopened and the food is OUTSTANDING! Â New menu daily with many choices that are by far the best I've had in a long time. Bob McGee and David Cruz have filled the menu with wonderful dishes that fully engage the pallet. Â I marveled at the combinations of flavors in each dish. I really can't say enough about this place, Of course, the ambiance is wonderful the service friendly and gracious. This place is really a treat Get down there you won't regret it. BYOB for the time being as the liquor license is being negotiated. You will leave happy.
Review Source:wow... what a disappointment! Â first... they aren't serving alcohol anymore until they get their liquor license back.... then... the new menu is not impressive! Â we had dinner at 7p and they ran out of tons of stuff already... then the portion size of their pupus for the price... totally not worth it... we ordered:
1. quail... flavorless and the bed of arugula salad it was served on was drowning in balsamic vinaigrette
2. Â monchong... was actually well cooked and well seasoned...
3. lamb chops... well cooked, needed more flavor, and the meat was super fatty
4. duck moo shiu... it was pretty good.. only came with 2 pieces... so with a party of 3... i feel the waitress should've suggested that we do 2 orders of it, so everyone at the table could try
5. ahi... the quality of the ahi wasn't the best but the peppercorn and curry offered some good flavors
our server, not the greatest... but i had a little pity for her, not her fault that the kitchen ran out of all sorts of things and didn't tell her... but... she definitely could've been more proactive to suggest to us that the pupus are super tiny plates... only came with one or 2 pieces... and to suggest to us that maybe we should order more then one order of something if we all wanted to get a bite...
and oh... valet parking was $12... ridiculous!
needless to say... we left feeling super irritated, disappointed and still hungry.... we will not be back... and i would not recommend!
