The Rum House

My friends and I had just had dinner in the area and were looking for a place to grab a drink. I suggested this place since we were only 2 blocks away and were craving cocktails. We walk in and sit at the bar. The décor totally has a jazzy kinda of feel to it, with leather red stools, dark wooden bar, bartenders in vests and live music playing. I order a mint julep, muscow mule, and a dark and stormy. Everything was good, except for the mint julep, there was only a handful of crushed ice and addition of lemon juice in it. I was a little bewildered and asked if he put lemon in it and he indeed did. Next I order a ramos, it was all wrong, no citrus juice, sugar or orange blossom water. It tasted like a gin milk shake...not so good. We asked for the check, the bartender was nice enough to comp the mint julep. And then we headed to enjoy the rest of the night.

The only reason to go near Time Sq. Try the Dark and Stormy!

Great find among the Times Square sleaze! I had an old high school teacher in town and a friend and I met her for a drink. I knew she was staying around Times Square, so I wanted to make the randevu convenient for her. After yelping, I settled on Rum House, I had never been (or heard of it), but figured I would take a chance.

The drink menu is extensive and creative, a little bit pricey, but good, so I was ok with that. I had the tortuga and the mojito, but delicious.

I will definitely be back for Happy Hour!
