We stopped in here for a burger before the theater. It was A-okay but nothing special. I had the salad instead of fries and it was limp-ish but okay. Service was slow despite the restaurant being virtually empty. Place is in need of a makeover as its dark, drab and dingy, but perhaps that's what pubs are all about. Who knows?
Review Source:Excellent, impressive and very deep Scotch menu, and a surprisingly deep non-Scotch whiskey and beer menu, including both Scottish and non-Scottish beers.
Scotch selection is excellent, food is above average (especially for the area), portions are generous, and the service is good. Â What's not to like? Â
The atmosphere is more upscale than most pubs, as are the prices. Â Â
The bar on the first floor can get crowded and noisy, but there is also a bar on the second floor that is usually empty.
I probably wouldn't venture into the area just for St. Andrews, but if you happen to be close by, it is worth a visit, especially if you like whiskey. Â In fact, if you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in the Times Square area, a Lagavulin or two at St. Andrews should help.
