I just had my wedding reception at Salvatore's a few weeks ago and I can not say enough about the experience.
Working with Suzi and Amra over the year I was engaged was so easy and they were so informative and accommodating. They were lovely and understanding and patient with my every question.
Salvatore's has such an old world charm and was just GORGEOUS on our wedding night. Our guests have not stopped commenting on how classy and beautiful the venue was and the food was great too!
In a city like Chicago you have a million choices on where to host your reception. However, if you are looking for classic and elegant Lincoln Park for your city wedding, Salvatore's is the place for you!
I just attended a wedding here.
The bow-tie pasta with vodka sauce was one of the most delicious pasta dishes I've ever eaten... & I've even lived in Italy! Â
The biggest drawback was that there was no parking on site. Salvatore's has you park a block or 2 away in the parking garage for Children's Hospital on Clark for free. Having to walk in the January night weather in our heels & little dresses was not fun.
I liked the dark ambiance of the place, especially in the dancing area & cocktail area. It made it cozy, and not awkward like a lot of big banquet dance floor set ups can be.
I had my wedding reception here on December 1, 2012, and I can honestly say that it was the day of my dreams! Salvatore's was very helpful throughout the process; Suzi and Amra were a pleasure to work with and helped to answer all of my questions (and there were many) in a very timely manner. For a Chicago venue, a reception at Salvatore's is very reasonably priced, and it was great to know that I didn't have to worry about a caterer, tables, chairs, linens, etc. - it really is a one stop shop. I had so many people remark to me how great the reception was, how much fun they had, and how unique and "Chicago" the venue was. Not to mention - the food was absolutely out of this world!
Review Source:We held our wedding and reception here last weekend, and, in a word, it was wonderful. From start to finish, Suzi, Amra and the rest of the Salvatore's team ensured the planning was painless and drama-free. They accommodated all our needs from flexibility around scheduling a rehearsal to leaving our crap there after the event to pick up two days later, which they had boxed up and ready to go.
They have weddings and receptions down to a science there (meaning, you really don't have to worry about a thing in regards to the venue and the flow of the overall evening), but don't worry that it will feel like a cookie-cutter event. It truly felt classy and customized. And they were always up-front with costs -- no surprises.
Aside from all that, the place is magical -- a perfect blend of vintage charm and classy Chicago. Oh yeah, and the food is also fabulous.
HIGHLY recommended.
I have been really torn about what to say in my review because my wedding was truly fantastic and I do know that Salvatore deserves a lot of credit for it. But on the other hand there are many little things that got to me when planning the wedding and I know that I would want to know if I were a future bride planning a wedding. I will break this down into pros and cons.
Pros:
- Such a romantic space and was perfect for the amount of people I had ( I had 140 people at my wedding)
- Great wait staff , lots of food, good pricing for its location
- Everyone keeps telling me how magical my wedding was (I think Salvatore's can take credit for this comment in regards to the space, the food and the open bar package I had. I think the comment also refers to my band, dessert table, flowers, rabbi and linens which was separate from Salvatore's) Â
- The coordinator Amra recommended the amazing band I used ( standing room only) and in general the coordinator knew how the wedding timeline should be planned out.
- The wedding went super smoothly (the staff knew what to do) and the coordinator put out extra candles on my cake table and dessert table.
- They let me have a dessert table where the food came from other places and they set this up for me
Cons:
- The coordinator doesn't always reasons so quickly to emails and phone calls, sometimes she did not respond at all. I had a wedding day coordinator I hired who actually stated she had never seen an onsite coordinator respond so poorly, prior to the wedding. Â However once you get a response they are helpful and make it seem like you asked a very easy question with a quick solution. Â
- I couldn't trust the onsite coordinator to make sure everything was going right and everything was on time. Trust me I would have loved to not hire a day of coordinator however several months before the wedding I realized that the day would be very messy if I didn't have a separate planner. Â As you will see in other reviews Salvatore's onsite coordinators can virtually be invisible during the event. I definitely did notice this at my wedding and that is why if you choose this venue and don't wasn't to have stress you really need to have a separate day of person. I saw my wedding coordinator talking to the band, my rabbi, the delivery people, keeping tabs on the time line, Q-ing everyone down the aisle Ect. And during all of this I had no clue where the Salvatore's coordinator was. In fact the Salvatore's coordinator didn't even say a word to me during my wedding. Â
- I didn't really deal with the payment side of the wedding however I know that my mom had an issue with the bar being open during dinner and there was also an issue with the fact that they charge for the venders meals and don't let you use the left over meals they made for your wedding for free.
- They are vey fussy with the timeline and making sure it is always in there favor.
Overall would I recommend this venue, yes because you will truly have a terrific wedding day there. However I would not place a lot of faith in the coordination staff and I would also read your contract carefully.
I have had 2 AMAZING experiences with large private events I have held at Salvatores this year! Â One was in October and one was this month. Â The staff, Sherife, Amra and Suzi were absolutely fabulous to work with! Â All ladies were true event professionals, prompt with responding to emails and on top of every detail on the day of each event. Â They were the best and so lovely to be around during each event! Â Their wait staff is also incredible, attentive to every guests' needs and quick on serving time. Â The food was delicious and the presentation was an A+. Â The venue is also beautifully maintained, filled with elegance and warmth. Â Thank you Salvatores staff for your continuos hard work! Â I would highly recommend your 5 star venue to anyone!
Review Source:Tara, Amra, and Dean were a pleasure to work with. The menu and prices were pretty much set- it was all about liking the food or not, and we LOVED it! Our guests even commented that the pasta and chicken dishes were absolutely tasty. We enjoyed doing family style for our rehearsal dinner so that our guests could casually interact with one another. The ristorante setting and decor of the restaurant were also perfect, as the place is set in scenic Lincoln Park.
Review Source:I was introduced to the restaurant by a friend who has known this place for years. I came here to celebrate my 20th birthday, and I must say, it doesn't get any better! First of all, the atmosphere was great. The place portrayed romance, elegance, and was quiet enough to hold a conversation. The food was exquisite, I feel as if I picked blindly from the menu, I would still love it. The choice of wine was remarkable and service was beyond anything I could ever imagine. The waiters have worked there for years, and they know what they are doing. I was very surprised to see that the place was not crowded on a Friday night. I must say, it is definitely one of the hidden gems of Chicago. I will definitely be coming back!
Review Source:I have been meaning to write this review for a while now. My wife and I had our reception at Salvatores earlier this year and it was perfect. Suzi and Amra were awesome and the venue is excellent. All the guests loved it and I would highly recommend checking it out if your are getting married in Chicago.
Review Source:My friend recently had her wedding reception here. Â The space has a charming and quaint grandeur about it. Â Its multiple rooms make it easy to coordinate cocktails, dinner, dancing, etc. Â It was all so seamless and effortless. Wait staff was on top of their game too. Â There is also a beautiful, secluded back patio should you require a moment to escape. Â Pasta dish (the vegetarian one served at this wedding at least) was heavy and kind of bla - my one and only quip with Salvatore's. Â Overall though, it is an excellent choice for a wedding reception venue.
Review Source:My husband and I have visited Salvatore's a handful of times within the last couple months and we can't wait to go back. Since they are only open Thursday through Sunday, it's hard to find a time when they are open and not hosting a wedding.
The food is fresh and delicious. My husband loves their veal dishes, and repeatedly tells me that they are the best he's had in years. They have great bruchetta, their house salad is perfect with their enjoyable house dressing, and their pastas are outstanding. It's obvious to me that they have been in business for years for a reason. They definitely know what they are doing!
The decor is wonderful and very old world charm.
My husband and I had our wedding and reception at Salvatore's August 2011. We liked the location and it accommodated the smaller wedding we were having. I had anticipated giving Salvatore's a 4 or 5 star rating. Ultimately, they earned 3.5 stars.
The food and waitstaff service were great. The wedding plan coordinator was severely lacking the day of the wedding. I had a "day of wedding" timeline written out with Salvatore's and the coordinator was MIA during the entire event. I saw her once when she spread out my train as I was about to walk down the aisle with my father and never again.
My husband and I had to drive the timing of all the events of the day (cake cutting, first dances, packing up) with family and friends which was very stressful. The only thing that saved it was how highly organized we were.
I don't mean to be overly harsh because we would get married there again if we had to do it over. We were simply very disappointed in the "day of" service of which we paid a 20% required tip plus an additional tip to the coordinator (our choice and we weren't aware of some of ball dropping until days later). Â It really negatively tainted what should have been a lovely and carefree day.
Sadly, we haven't gotten any followup from Salvatore's to ask us how it went or to thank us for our business. Â After spending thousands of dollars, I think a handwritten note or even a call or email would be appropriate.
This is not a real review, but I feel obligated to write it because I'm pretty sure the folks at Salvatore's are "connected" in some way. I mean, I'm a pretty sassy gal. I buck convention and always question authority, but I quietly nodded my head and obeyed every time one of the waiters gave me a stern look or pointed their finger at me as if they were saying "don't mess with us, Missy, or you'll sleep with the fishes!"
Of course, I don't know this for a fact and I'm not trying to slander anyone, but the staff at Salvatore's knows how to keep people in line. Â Even me.
On to the review...
I recently went to a wedding at Salvatore's and they did a nice job. The ceremony was held in the dining room and then we adjourned to another dining room and outdoor patio while they added tables and chairs to the area where the ceremony was held.
This was an appetizer wedding and the waiters made sure that everyone got some food and the things that I tried were delicious. The bartenders were very nice and no ones glass ever went empty (which is no easy task when you have a bunch of Irish and English people in the house!)
I really enjoyed the outdoor patio. It was secluded and had a real "back yard" feel to it. Also, the restaurant itself is tucked in a nice little area of Lincoln Park, which makes it feel very homey and exclusive.
The folks at Salvatore's do a lot of weddings and it shows. They ran everything like clockwork.
I've attended many weddings, not only in Chicago, but all over the US and I've got to say, from start to finish, the experience I had a Salvatore's was among the best I've been to. From the beautiful setting, the attentive and well above average service, to the amazing food, I feel that the entire crew at Salvatore's have the wedding game down pretty well.
I would have no problem attending another wedding here and would go as far as to recommend it as a site to anyone who would listen to the very positive experience my newly married friends and their attendees had at this beautiful event.
I wish I could give this place negative stars. The restaurant was almost empty on the Friday before Valentine's day (should have clued me in to how much this was going to suck).
The restaurant was freezing. We asked for the heat to be turned up and in response the owner turned the music down. Wtf.
The wine was ok but overpriced and the selection was crap.
The waiter didn't seem to understand how to answer a question about the menu.
The oil on the table was rancid.
The food was mediocre to bad. My entree was manicotti and it was so bland and watery that I sent it back. If something is made of noodles and cheese, it has to be absolutely terrible for me to send it back.
My boyfriend's food was just ok, and tiny/overpriced.
After we sent the manicotti back, no manager or owner came over to see if I wanted anything else. The owner was busy sitting on her ass eating dinner with her friends and didn't seem to care about the customers at all. And her boots were ugly.
The restrooms were kind of dingy.
I am so confused as to why people are giving this place such high reviews. It felt like a funeral parlor and the food was like ash in my mouth.
response to owner's comment below:
-My review is not being made with "malice." It is true and it is my opinion.
-The olive oil was rancid. It was. I don't care what you say, it was rancid. I tasted it, and it was rotten.
-The manicotti was absolutely the worst manicotti I have ever attempted to eat. It was dry and flavorless and the sauce was extremely bland. Olive Garden's manicotti is ten times better.
-The boots were ugly. I'm allowed to comment on what I want to. Basically, she was not dressed professionally and I thought it was inappropriate.
-I will state whatever opinions I want, thank you very much.
-I did not think your staff or restaurant was anything approaching "wonderful."
-My boyfriend already tried to go complain the night that we ate there and he was brushed off completely.
My sister had her wedding reception here December 6th... and the whole day especially the reception was so lovely and beautiful that I will:
A) have to get married maybe 10-20 years from now just so that people either die off or have a higher probability of forgetting her gorgeous wedding & reception
2) get married in a completely polar opposite fashion, i.e. in the summer, outdoors, catered.... or maybe Vegas???????????
d) make my future fiance plan the wedding so that at least I can blame him if things go to $h!t.... Â
But seriously I cannot imagine how any Chicago wedding could be more beautiful! Here's some highlights:
the price was VERY afforable... as my sis's maid-of-honor I had a sneak peak of her frugle budget as well as the amazing accommodations Salvatore's had for any budget range...
you will have a gorgeous former 20's hotel space that was converted to a romantic restaurant within the last few decades furthermore specializing in wedding receptions (it's a Ggrrrreeeat! space to say in the least)... the feeling of wedding in a large hotel room with the fake wood floors for dancing (accompanied by a some cheesy DJ) feels beyond typical (barf)... but you won't get that here as there is a beautiful bar/dancing room, a spacious L-shaped dining room (with the L-leg being the opened pasta-vino room), a corridor bar-room (pasta-vino bar), a lobby with a beautiful grand piano, an outdoor patio with seating and lighting (and you can rent heaters if it's cold), as well as an outdoor garden with a fountain (probably more enjoyable when it's warmer)...
you can get lost in any room... listening to the cello-piano duet during a delicious dinner, hearing the live big jazz band jamming in the dance room (great acoustics), getting a photobooth picture in the setup next to the large bar, smoking a cigar on the patio, sipping on a hard drink (ah and the drink package was inclusive for the WHOLE NIGHT, WOWSER)...take a look at their floorplan here: http://www.salvatores-ch… ... whatever you imagine Salvatore's will surely be accommodating to see that you have your dream wedding reception!
If you want outside food here as well (aside from dinner that is... which dinner was amazing I wouldn't have opted for somewhere else if I even had the choice myself!) you can have your cake made somewhere else and bring cookies and such for your dessert table. They catered the midnight snack of grilled cheese, mini-brie-n-raspberry tortes, and meatballs and such so everybody was sure to leave full and satisfied!
Best of all was AMRA... she was friggin DOLL... she made planning so lovely and sweet, even when things seemed crazy she was cool, collected, accommodating, encouraging, and proactive. For instance, I had last minute decided to play a song after my maid-of-honor speech - I gave Amra the CD and said I needed her to start playing on the cue of a particular sentence. With her sitting two rooms away, I feared maybe she'd get distracted there, maybe a chance she'd forget (it happened over an hour later after I asked!), BUT NO, she was ON CUE! Because we all know that if you play the laugh track a minute after the joke the moment could be lost! Amazingly, 75% of the room shed tears to the song I played after my speech, music PERFECTLY on cue, but I couldn't have done that without Amra in the background following through!
After dinner we had 2 performances... one ballad by my brother on the piano, and another solo acoustic guitar tribute from my talented cousin. Beautiful. Not only the performances were stealing, but the way the host captured everyone's attention when different performances were going on was important for everyone to be on the same page enjoying everything.
I've been to a handful of what I thought was gorgeous weddings, including one at the top of the Sears tower... but this reception venue tops any I've seen before! SoOOOsoooooo CLASSY.
I still here lovely comments on how beautiful my sister's wedding was. I will need a WILD imagination to figure how I will some day top that!
We got married at Salvatore's this past Sunday, and it truly was the day we had always hoped it would be and more:
1) Fantastic venue - our guests are still complimenting us on our choice of ceremony and reception.
2) Amazing food - no wrong choice, but we went for the Wedding Extravaganza Package including 4 hor's douvres, individual plated dinner service including a choice of three options (do go with the fillet). The cake was included and it was from Rolf's Bakery - tasty!
3) Friendly and professional staff. Everyone of our guests left impressed.
4) Amra and Suzi were both amazing - thanks again ladies for making sure our wedding celebrations were such a great hit!!!!!
We had our wedding at Salvatore's in April. It was the absolute perfect venue!
Salvatore's is one of the best values in the city for a wedding without sacrificing quality. The food was amazing, we continually get compliments on how good it was. We did the Extravaganza Package, which is their top package and includes everything from cake to champagne to a 5 hr premium bar. Suzi and Amra are great to work with. They are so laid back, but also super organized. This place runs like a well oiled machine. They do so many weddings and events, they really have it down to a science.
The day of the wedding Suzi was attending to our every need. As soon as I walked in, she was getting me a drink, letting me know how everything was going, etc. We dropped off all our things (escort cards, pictures we wanted out, accessories, guest book, etc) a few days before. They set everything up exactly like we wanted it. They are super responsive and answer the phone when you call. I usually emailed and they got back to me within the hour most times, but definitely same day. The actual space is so beautiful. I really liked the 2 separate rooms because people who wanted to talk could sit in the other room while our band played. Overall, I would highly highly recommend Salvatore's, they went above and beyond for our event and totally exceeded our expectations.
We get tons of compliments from people still about how great our wedding was. Definitely A++
GORRRRKA!!!!
That's about all I remember from one of my best girl friend's wedding reception that was held here last night. Â I was told that "Gorka" is Russian for the word "bitter..." Â You yell the word "GORKA" instead of dinging your glasses to have the bride and groom kiss in order to convert something bitter to something sweet.
Ya I'm still a bit confused about the whole idea but hey, it's cultural, and definitely expected at an event combining a Russian and Albanian family into one.
Salvatore's Ristorante is a pleasant event space for wedding receptions and the like. Â It's elegant, romantic and a tad outdated or better stated, conservative in decor.
My biggest concern was the limited space. Â The interior seemed to be made of three main rooms (east, west and central/main). Â The central room was used for the reception and was extremely small. Â The videorecorder could not roll his camera's tripod around without people relocating. Â The waiters had a hard time as well, even though they were probably accustomed to it. Â Oh and the bride! Â She had difficulty fitting through to visit each table to pay a visit. Â Even worse...The grand entrance of the bride and groom. Â They had to go through a labyrinth to make it to the mock alter. Â
In the adjacent room was another wedding that seemed to be of Mediterranean descent with loud music, clapping and probably belly-dancers. Â Unfortunately, it masked over the sweet words shared between the bride and groom even with all the doors closed.
As for the food, I have to admit that it was wonderful. Â We started off with a mixed greens salad topped with a light dressing and fresh, warm bread with olive oil. Â I had to have the veal tortellini that everyone raved about. Â They served a huge plate of these decadent noodle circles smothered in a thick cream sauce. Â I'm not quite sure if anyone finished their meal...even though out eyes and taste buds wanted to.
All in all, Salvatore's is a great venue and location for a wedding reception. Â I had a blast and it seemed that mostly everyone was pleased with the evening (even though it's impossible to please every single person).
Its taken me a year to get around to writing this review. Â I have such mixed feelings about it. Â I had my wedding in this spot and the wedding/reception was beautiful. Â The food was great and the wine was excellent, my guests all had a great time. Â One of the coordinators at Salvatore's however, almost ruined the day. Â From the start she was very rude and disorganized. Â I would get contracts with incorrect prices (higher then discussed of course) and she seemed bothered every time I asked a question or showed up at the restaurant. Â She was even rude to a few of my guests on the day of. Â Luckily after she get the wedding started she disappeared and we didn't have to be burdened by her horrible attitude until we were leaving when she was in full b*** mode kicking us out. Â
I loved my wedding, but I will say we didn't go back for our 1 year anniversary. Â It may take a few years.....
My fiance and I knew we didn't want to get married in a conference room, hotel ballroom, or anywhere with sliding dividing doors - we wanted something unique and intimate and reflected the city of Chicago and Salvatore's was the PERFECT venue for our big day! Â
First of all the price - b/c that's the first thing on your mind when you're wedding planning - the price is right at Salvatore's! Â We were determined to have a city wedding but the hotels were expensive as you can imagine - Salvatore's is very reasonable for the quality of service and food and the beautiful venue!
Friends had told me I needed to hire a day of wedding coordinator but that's not necessary with Salvatore's - Suzi and Amra will take care of you from the moment you book throughout the event itself. Â Suzi was SO attentive and on it - she asked me if I was ready for my flipflops after hours of dancing, she fixed my bustle once, she arranged for my wedding party to have the passed appetizers since we missed the cocktail hour - I was SO impressed with them! Â I didn't have to worry about getting my presents the night of my wedding because they locked them up in their office overnight along with my bouquet and some items from our trolley. Â Lastly, Suzi and Amra have GREAT relationships with their vendors - everytime we'd tell our photographer, dj, etc. our venue they were very familiar with the space.
The food is ridiculously good and we opted for the family style Italian - everyone raved about it and the servers would bring more platters as needed - the veal tortellini is worth the upcharge! Â The servers were very attentive and nice! Â We had an open bar for 5.5 hours and the wine, champagne, liquor options were above average for weddings I think. Â
The venue is super cute and intimate and doesn't need too many flowers. Â We didn't want a 4 hour dinner - we wanted people to get out and dance so it was a great setup for our night. Â
I love Salvatore's - would recommend it to anyone. Â I'm looking forward to returning on my anniversary for some veal tortellini!
I recently attended a wedding reception here and the venue is absolutely fantastic. The dinner was family style and we enjoyed several pasta dishes and chicken piccata. Overall the food was excellent for a wedding reception. Ohh and there were also some pretty tasty appetizers now that I'm thinking back. Delicious bruschetta and a spread of calamari so large I could swim through.
The bartenders could all mix a mean manhattan and the dance floor was the perfect size for this medium size wedding crowd. The bride and groom opted for a live band which really helped bring out the charming setting of Salvatore's. I can only hope that more friends choose to have their reception here so I don't have to crash some strangers' wedding.
I say this is a 3 - A-OK. My guests say this is a 4 - They are fans.
When we first went to visit, we were generally impressed. The place requires little decoration because it is so nice inside with the mirrors and dark woods. The patio is lovely. We spent most of our time with Amra who we also generally liked. We decided to hold our ceremony here with a lunch reception and rent out all of the rooms. We put down a deposit and came in for a tasting. The food and cake were quite good. We decided to go with an open bar tab. All prices were extremely reasonable.
Occasionally during planing, it was hard to get a hold of the staff. Sometimes it was tough to get the answer to a question we asked. The coordinators share one email address and I was never sure who was sending me the email and to whom I was replying. I was a little nervous about our plans being nailed down - the place obviously holds many weddings and I just wasn't convinced that the details would work out the way we had discussed. A lot of little things weren't documented or communicated well.
I hired my own coordinator to handle the day-of details. I am glad that I did, because I think we had too much going on for just the Salvatore's coordinator to handle. The day of, there were a few things that bothered me. We opted to move the ceremony inside from the patio because it was raining so hard - our coordinator had a little bit of pushback from Salvatore's about this but it they finally got it done. Champagne was set out for each person (I had asked that sparkling grape juice be available because half of our guests do not drink). They asked us to cut the cake during salads, before lunch was done. The courses weren't timed well (salad took forever but main entree was short).
We dropped off our stuff (programs, favors, baskets, vases, guest book, etc) the day before and Suzi questioned my fiance and opened every box inquiring about it's contents and why we were dropping it off (Amra told us it was fine to drop things off the day before). Communication seems to be a little bit off between the coordinators themselves.
Most importantly, there were other people there checking the place out for their own event DURING OUR CEREMONY. I find that completely unacceptable, especially since I had provided a detailed schedule of when and how long the ceremony was. This should have been completely avoided.
Additionally, the person that "called us a cab" walked up to Clark to call the cab and then rode back in it - a charge on the cab that we had to pick up. I would have just called one myself.
As I stated, we opted for an open bar instead of a bar package. We were still required to pay a deposit on estimated alcohol. In the end, we had money refunded to us for this because our total was less than the "95% estimated deposit." I know this isn't a huge deal, but it meant that my dad had to go over the paperwork after the reception because we couldn't just pay a bar tab. It was just unneeded confusion.
On the flip side, my guests were unaware of the problems and loved the place and the food. They thought everything went smoothly and had a good time. They thought everything was beautiful and perfect and we have had nothing but compliments since the big day. I give Salvatore's credit for only stressing/inconveniencing only me and not my guests.
I just had my wedding at Salvatore's last month, and it was just wonderful!! Â I had my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at Salvatore's, and it could not have worked out better. Â I'll first say that Amra, one of the coordinators there, is a total doll. Â Every single time I have met or talked with her, she has been friendly, helpful, and willing to work with me. Â Suzi is the other coordinator, and while she is ok, she isn't quite as much of a people-person I would say. Â That being said, she was very helpful as well. Â
Salvatore's is very competetively priced...for the city. Â If you come to the city looking at wedding venues and think you're going to find a place with suburban pricing, well you're got another thing coming to you!! Â We paid $84 per plate (*discounted* because it was in the winter), and that included the appetizers, dinner, cake, and top shelf open bar for 5 hours. Â The food is delicious, and much more unique and better than food you'd get at a standard hotel or banquet hall for a wedding. Â The cake I hear was very good, but I was too busy making the rounds at tables to get a slice! Â They do offer valet parking for guests, and we chose to cover that cost for everybody ($15 per car)..and everybody really appreciated that because it's very hard to find parking in this area. Â The only negative was that Arlington Pl. (the street) was completely torn up on the day of our wedding, so people had quite a bumpy ride in! Â We also opted to provide our guests with coat check, and covered that cost as wel ($1 per coat). Â In total, we ended up having 115 guests and it was perfect for the size of Salvatore's! Â Not too scarce, yet not too crowded.
The waitstaff at Salvatore's was also amazing..very polite and friendly, and I didn't hear about any spills or crashes :) Â Salvatore's was also able to fit a head table in that fit a total of 11 people, and that everybody in the restaurant could see us. Â
Everything was just perfect for our little, intimate, Italian-like wedding...if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Salvatore's again in a heartbeat!
Our daughter had her wedding there about 4 years ago....and it was WONDERFUL....the setting was perfect; the food was excellent (just the tasting several months in advance was a great meal); the several rooms worked out great...bar / dance floor separate from the dining; other rooms also...all great....follow their lead on stuff like a DJ etc...they know their stuff....
good thing....reasonable (very) pricing versus the downtown hotels....
I was here this past weekend for a wedding reception where I was the photographer. Â
Nice that they have a valet (since you can't park anywhere near there without a permit), but valet costs $15! Â
I thought the place was rather small, especially for the number of people that attended. Â Not sure what the capacity is there but felt extremely cramped both in the dining area and dancing area. Â
Food was only okay.
I attended a friend's wedding reception here and it was great. The ceremony was set up very nice with a simple and elegant decor. We were then moved to a cocktail room which had great, fast bar service and nice appetizers. During that time the ceremony room was transformed into the dining room and it looked fabulous. I knew I would love the place when my table already had a cup of grated parmesan waiting for me. Our servers were quick and helpful.
I'm not sure on the price but I had a great time.
I had my wedding here. Â It went so smoothly. Amra was such a help, perfect day of wedding coordinator. The outside courtyard where we had the wedding was so well groomed and everything was perfect.
The food was AMAZING. All my guests loved it. Not a single word except for amazing. They use Rolf's for the wedding cake and I give them so many kudos because it was also delicious! Â
I loved Salvatore's and anyone who gets married here will be completely satisfied. 100%
I was here for my friend's wedding reception last weekend. Â Excellent place for a small wedding reception. Â
They have the whole place. Â We first had a cocktail hours-great drinks!!! Â I like the little outdoor patio!!
Then we had dinner in the main dining area. Â The food was excellent - I had the filet mignon and my bf had the salmon....they were both cooked just right! Â
They have a separate room/area for dancing after dinner. Â It is just big enough for people to move around...and for people to hang out closer to the bar area. Â
The service was pretty good....staff was helpful
Salvatores is tasty. We went on a Wednesday evening for their BYOB night ($5 corkage fee). The place was quiet- only us and one other couple planning their wedding reception. The service was top notch and the food was delicious Italian. It also was not as expensive as I anticipated. The dishes at near-by Basil Leaf Cafe are heartier and more authentic...but Salvatores wasn't bad at all. Check out their website for drink/food deals during the week.
Just a note...I used to live thisclose to Salvatores and you could frequently hear wedding receptions on weekend nights. Impossible to sleep with drunk guests laughing and shouting during smoke breaks.
Total disappointment when I came here on a Sunday night. The wait staff was not attentive at all. We had to wait nearly 10 mins after we were done for them to see that we needed the check, after asking them twice. I ordered the pasta primavera which was bland, to say the least! My friend ordered the tortellini and that was not good either, considering it had a cream sauce to it. The best thing on the menu was the bread that was served to us as we waited for our meals.
Review Source:Wow, a lot of people have had their wedding receptions here! Â I went to a holiday party here for my work. Â I don't mean to offend the establishment or any one who has had that special event here, but I cannot give it more stars do to the "little buddy" who joined us at the dinner table. Â Our little buddy was the cockroach that had stowed away on the underside of the butter dish and ended up on our table. Â When my finance went to pass the butter to one of my co-workers our little buddy Mr. Cockroach bolted from under the plate, across the table and dove under the radiator... Â
This is actually the second year that we've had our holiday party here, the food is okay at best, but the service is decent and the private dining room and bar is nice. Â Cleanliness in the kitchen is obviously a huge concern of mine now, and if we pick this place again for next year I may reconsider my attendance.
We had our wedding reception here, and have dined only one other time. The service was excellent and the food is very good, very authentic.
Our wedding reception was perfect - the atmosphere is romantic and very classy. The service again, was excellent, and the food was great.
We paid for valet parking for all of the guests at our wedding, but we usually spend a lot of time looking for parking when we come here to stop by for dinner. My husband doesn't "do" valet for some reason. Haha.
Anyhow, I can't stress enough that the atmosphere, service, and food are all worth a stop at Salvatore's. The only star lost to this great establishment is because the Event Coordinator here can be quite rude, and even tried to change the pricing conditions on our contract at the last minute. I found her to be unprofessional at times and I was embarrassed that she treated my wedding coordinator so rudely.
We had our wedding reception here and have dined on several other occasions. The atmosphere is great and the food has been terrific.
If you get invited to a private party (or are thinking of throwing one) the veal is definitely not to be missed if it's on the menu. The Veal Tortellini is spectacular.
This place must be a big hit for weddings! Â I came here for a wedding brunch, and the setting was beautiful! Â Lots of dark wood and fancy linens. Â There's a room off to the right that started off as the cocktail hour location then turned into the life of the party where a live band played music and encouraged a lot of guests' participation for the typical wedding games; a good sized room for dancing. Â The main dining room is where the tables are. Â I don't remember the food much, but it was basically buffet style with eggs or salmon, salad, and assorted sides. Â Because of the separate rooms, you can't eat and watch people dance or hear music at the same time. Â Parking it a little difficult since the streets are so narrow in this area, but they do offer free valet for weddings. Â Overall, it boasts an intimate atmosphere on the fancier side for 100 or so guests.
Review Source:I came here for a wedding reception on Saturday and thought it was a beautiful setting for a small intimate wedding or other event. Â The layout was great and the service was top notch. Â The food was pretty standard wedding fare, but not bad. Â I had a chicken dish with a mushroom sauce and my date had salmon. Â Extra points to the bartender for making a high impact Manhattan and a very refreshing bellini.
Review Source:This was our wedding reception site and we returned for our first anniversary dinner. Â It's a gorgeous place and the food is quite fine. Â Everyone remarked what a great wedding it was - we had fun too! Â When we had our dinner for two later on, it was romantic. Â Awesome hospitality. Â For events, you get better value at places like Maggiano's, but the food and atmosphere make this place worth the extra money.
