We're big fans of Polish food and have gone to just about every major place in the area. Â That being said, we are used to being somewhat ignored and that weird feeling when you first walk in and are not met by a hostess, but stared at from afar because you are supposed to just walk in and act like you own the place and sit down.
We had driven by this place a bunch of times and finally decided to go in. Â It was slightly before 6 on a Saturday and there were only two other people inside. Â We decided to eat a bunch of things - got some Polish beer, appetizer of pierogi and two entrees. Â Husband had the breaded pork cutlet with fried potatoes and I got the stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes. Â The pierogi were pretty standard - nice size for two to split. Â My stuffed cabbage was really good - liked the sauce and that they serve it on a cabbage leaf so the potatoes stay free of sauce. Â Those were chock full of dill - yum! Â Husband was happy with the pork but thought the pierogi were too oniony (his complaint about everything). Â All of this food cost under $40 - and he had two large beers - they were only $4 each!!! Â Seriously, every time we eat out for dinner it is an easy $60 for just drinks and entree - so this was amazing.
Our waitress was really nice and helped the husband pronounce the beer without giving him attitude! Â She also, when asked by him, totally guessed he was Irish - he was so disappointed he could not pass for Polish and she laughed at his ridiculousness!
I tried this place out some time ago with a friend. It was actually my first time at a Polish restaurant. The restaurant was kind of dead, and the service was ok. I ordered a pork dish that wasn't too good but it sufficed. I kind of felt awkward eating there and not being Polish LOL. I mean, should you ever feel like that at a restaurant? (Do you ever go into a sushi bar and feel like, wow, I'm being stared at or being talked about in a foreign tongue). All in all, my friend seems to like the place, but I don't know if I'd come back.
