This place is amazing.  The bartenders - Shak, Katie, Neje, Shaw, Z - the list goes on - make Sandbar the best sportsbar, ney BAR in SoFlo.  Food is great & cheap & big portions.  Outside seating makes people watching in the Grove a sport in & of itself.  Broke - come for Happy Hour & limp home...

Great weekend spot, Friday nights are the best though. Sit out front at the outdoor bar, you can never go wrong with Annastaysha as your bartender. She'll concoct something delicious for you.

They have great food here as well, don't sleep on the crispy chicken wrap, Joey style, 2 sides of  chipotle on the side, whaaaaaat!

Please note that my review is for the food only.  We came in at 11:30am and were the only people in there. I can tell you this though, it smelled like a party had happened in there the night before and it looked like the kind of place I would have raged in back in my partying days. But anyway, we just wanted to grab a quick lunch before all the July 4 festivities. I ordered their wings, but the waitress came back and informed me they were out of wings. I was disappointed, but what can you do? I ended up getting the Mahi melt and I was happy I did because I thought it was a nice dish. The fish was fresh, it had just a hint of spiciness to it and it had nice ripe tomatoes, a tasty slaw, and some melted cheese on sourdough bread.  I had a similar dish recently at another place and this one was clearly the superior sandwich. The fries were average as were the cheese sticks. The mahi melt, prices (less than $25 for 2 sandwiches and an app) and the friendly service place this establishment clearly in the "above average" category for me. We will come back (hopefully they'll have wings next time!).

I don't care what any one says- u get a nice bang for your buck. Its loud- drunk college kids, if you want an intimate evening at home- have one, don't come here! Their tacos and seasoned fries are sooo good. Fish and chicken tacos were my favorite and that category 5 hurricane was no joke! I had two- got the job done. They're half priced on tuesdays or wednesdays I can't remember which. I want to say wednesdays and they have a DJ so we sure did sweat and party!

Have to love Sandbar if only for their tacos. Stop by on Mondays to receive 50% off all taco varieties. I personally have 5 steak tacos every Monday, rain or shine.  Viva Taco Monday!

    Pro-tip: TACO MONDAY!

Picked up 5 steak tacos for under $10!! The kicker?? They use real steak!

Honestly, my friend introduced me to taco Monday and he goes religiously every Monday and has been for like 2 years. If you are in the area on Monday, this is seriously a no-brainer.

Side note: The place is a bar... expect nothing fancy.

Dive bar appeal.  Sit outside on the deck with the old rubber tires and watch all those hot South Florida girls making sloppy parking attempts out front in their Lexus' and Land Rovers (some of them can't even see over the steering wheel) as they pretend to parallel park while bumping and grinding against someone else's car.  No one left a note.

Great happy hour.  Cheap beers.  Can't go wrong.

Sandbar...all these years I have passed by you. All the years I worked in the Grove and not once stepped foot in your establishment to grab some lunch. Oh, please forgive me.

Now...I am not a fan of sports bars/dive bars. I like to eat where it is super clean. But my my buddy was moving out of town and this was our last get together. Plus, he sweared by the tacos. Ok, I'll try it.

The place was empty on a Sunday evening. Perfect. I have read the reviews/seen the crowds on the typical college nights and while I am not THAT old...I have no time to deal with drunken frat guys. We basically had the place to ourselves.

Now, for the amount of people that were in the place, the waiter should of been a thousand times better. Slacking on taking orders. Forgot the order once, had to come back, no napkins, etc.

I ordered 2 shrimp tacos and one carne asada taco. Get 3 tacos and get a FREE side of fries or rice and beans. Fries, please. The carne asada taco was awesome. Just the right amount of meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions. The real star of this show however, was the shrimp tacos. Come to think of it this was probably my first shrimp taco ever. Glad I got two of them...I might just brave the crowds to come grab half price tacos on Monday!

Washed it down with a cold beer. I didn't get sick. I didn't die. My bar food phobia might just be cured....or maybe I'll just stick to sandbars tacos for now.

No, I would not advise anyone to have food at Sandbar...At its best it's mediocre bar food.  Let's put it this way, the best thing on the menu is their mozzarella sticks.  Because, how can you mess those up?

But I still give this place a solid 3 stars.  Why, you ask?
First of all, happy hour is stellar.  Come before the UM crowd does and you'll find it to be quite a peaceful place to get wasted before the sun goes down.  Also, trivia on Fridays.  This is probably my favorite place to do trivia in Miami.  Winning team gets a 50 dollar gift certificate to use on food and/or drinks, which we won once.  It was awesome.

You'll never find me here past 9pm, ever... It gets way too crowded and way too obnoxious, but like I said... It's pretty solid for happy hour and for trivia- and that's good enough for me!

Okay, so maybe it's my inner white girl. No wait, my inner Miami public school kid loves this place too...IRREGARDLESS--all I know is that Sandbar is like that friend you could always trust to lend you a pencil or spot you for lunch. This place is RELIABLE.

Whether it's our first stop choice or our man-it's-a-quiet-night-now-what-do-we-do meeting point, one thing is for sure: the beer is flowing, the DJ is spinning, the people are mingling and happy to be there. In fact, our Wednesday to-do list looks like this: laundry, Publix Run, 30min jog, Sandbar penny beers....it's a weekday must. Get there early on Wednesdays b/c when the UM kiddos have migrated back south, it gets packed!

And don't forget about their half-priced Hurricane drinks (if you're looking for social lubricant, ignore the category one drink, all it does is tickle your belly). OH and you can't ever go wrong with the wings--lots of 'em! SO yeah, cheap bear, funny freshman trying to grind to..well, everything, (free entertainment, people!...HILARIOUS) and half of UM under one roof--in my book, that's a gold star!

Sandbar is a staple in the grove that draws in crowds for sport events and happy hour drink specials.  This sports bar is great to catch you college or nfl games.  The food served here is sure to pleasantly surprise you.  I am a huge fan of their fish tacos.  Very few places make them as tasty as the sandbar.

If you are in area, stop in and giv his place a visit.

    SAY CHEEEESE!!!!

Whenever I wanna add a lil FAT to my back I head to Sandbar!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE their "Cheeseburger in Paradise". I've been coming here for years and it's the ONLY thing I ever order (without that orange sauce though). Unlike a lot of burger joints in this area Sandbar's burgers are HUGE, come with a side and a pickle spear AND it's only $6 on Wednesdays!!...CANT beat that!!  PLUS its consistently good and always cooked perfectly to MY liking.

Their wait staff, however, is NOT consistently good.  Its like flipping a coin with a Friendly, Efficient chick on one side and a rude BIMBO on the other. Same with the service: sometimes its fast, other times NOT...I just ALWAYS make sure to add a few extra coins to the parking meter just in case.

Oh and aside from their cheeseburgers, I love the ENERGY in here. There's LOTS of tvs and music on at ALL times and you see ALL types of people dining/drinking/hanging out. I like that you can sit outside and people watch too.

Its a COOL, casual spot...I recommend it.

We stopped in today for a day drink and our amazing server/bartender Rosie talked us in to the lobster tacos with french fries and the hurricanes because everything was on special. Everything was great and she was very on point. I'd definitely go back and ask for her!

It is a drive bar so we didn't expect much. We ordered beers and I had a strawberry daiquiri which was very good but verrrry sweet. I ordered fish tacos (which were half off) and fries, fiance ordered the fish of the day and his nephew a burrito. Our table thought the food was very tasteless and bland (even the broccoli tasted like water and that's hard to do ... it's BROCCOLI!) and the waitress was almosttttt rude. She was not friendly what-so-ever. It is a very authentic Florida restaurant though, all it's missing is a view of the water. For drinks, I would definitely say to check this place out.

I won't say that we won't come back here but I won't say that we will either.

    SECURITY IS INCOMPETENT

Just to be absolutely clear, I completely understand that it is in the business's best interest to ensure that they do not serve alcohol to the under-21 crowd, that a business needs to be vigilant in screening for fake ids or risk the legal and financial consequences.

That being said though, you would have thought that a place like Sandbar, a place that is very popular among the younger crowd from UM, a place that makes money off selling alcohol, would follow the most rudimentary rule of business running and hiring a competent staff.

However, that apparently is not the case based on what happened last night when I was escorted to the front door after attempting to buy a (second) drink, told that my ID was fake, and asked to leave the premise. In the head bouncer's words, "California IDs aren't glossy. Goodnight."

Here's the thing: my ID is 100% real. I am almost 24 years old, and I have never in my entire life had a fake ID, let alone need one now.

Okay okay, I understand, it's in the best interest of the business to take the risk of throwing someone out with a legit ID than serve someone with a really good fake. Anything to keep the liquor board from yanking Sandbar's right to serve beer and booze.

However, let's be honest, if you hired people who could truly differentiate a real and fake ID in the first place, then they wouldn't have to find themselves in that situation to begin with.

And for a place who has a guy on staff who 100% incorrectly identified a 100% real ID as a "fake", that does nothing but speaks lowly of the Sandbar's security.

You had one job, you failed at it, and now you've lost a customer.

All I have to say is Mahi Mahi Wrap. Kbye.

I'm not a big drinker, and I'm not up to watch games at a bar, but Sand bar's food is worth the noise and the few people who've had a little too much to drink. The Mahi Mahi wrap is meaty, tangy, spicy and tightly wrapped so that nothing gets away from this tortilla of heaven! The fried banana cheesecake burrito is to die for you cannot leave without sharing it!

    College Heaven

This place is not for me. Food is mediocre at best and drinks are ok. Big bar with tables and chairs and sand on the floor. I guess they need the sand on the floor to soak up all the vomit from the drunk college students. Drinks and beers are overpriced.

Invariably, whenever you head to the Grove, you end up at Sandbar. It's just fact. An immutable truth. Like a black hole, once you cross the event horizon that is Grand Avenue, you are sucked into Sandbar's unforgivable gravitational pull and are crushed under the weight of your own inebriation.

I'd been DYING to drop some physics in a Yelp review!

Sandbar is certainly one of those places scattered across the Miami bar scene that is known by just about everyone. When you're under 21, you try to get there early enough so that you're not carded. When you're over 21, you make your way crosstown for Penny Beer Wednesdays or for a quick pick-me-up before getting your night started. (Obviously, by quick pick-me-up, I mean a huge mug of beer or one of Sandbar's signature drinks named accordingly for the strength with which it attacks the coastline of your sobriety, i.e. Category 3, Category 4, Category 5...)

OK, now I'm just being obnoxious.

The point is, no matter what, the Sandbar is the Sandbar. It's always been there, and it'll probably always be there.

This place is totally unassuming, kind of dirty, and really, more Pig-Pen than Charlie Brown. Translation: I totally dig this place, and I've frequented it for longer than I can remember. (Really, I physically CAN'T remember. The drinks are that inexpensive, that strong, and that prevalent.)

    So why three stars?

The dreaded bathroom attendant! That judgmental faux elitist who looks at you like you slapped Jesus for refusing to wash your hands on your way out!

That, and there are way too many UM students/fans.

    Waaaaaaaaaay too many.

I know this may be unpopular to some of you -- and really, downright sacrilegious -- but I hate the University of Miami. Absolutely abhor it.

I would apologize for feeling thusly, but I just can't. Just like I can't lick my elbow. I'm just incapable of doing so.

Friday's Trivia Night is a blast.  If you get there a bit early and form a team, the Sandbar will extend their Happy Hour specials to your team for the trivia competition.  The Hurricane drinks are cheap (around $3 with the happy hour deal), surprisingly good, and have a decent amount of alcohol in them.  My theory is that the regulars at Sandbar spike the new teams' drinks in an attempt to knock them out of the competition.  My team has shared the nachos before, and they have a great kick from added jalapenos.

From what I'm reading in the reviews, it seems like the Trivia Night serves an older crowd than normal weekdays.  The music is kept at a reasonable level, and I haven't seen any drunken college students staggering around.  Definitely an acceptable place to invite work colleagues for some relaxation and trivia.

I used to make Scotty's my Coconut Grove pick when craving a grilled fish and cold beer. Then, on my last visit there, I found out about the acronym, BIOYA, found on every receipt. Meaning: blow it out your ass. Really? I'm going to pay for your overpriced ocean's catch with that attitude?

So this weekend when in search of fish + beer, I checked out Sandbar. Apparently, they're not just good for college kid Wednesday or Thursday-night beer specials.

The blackened mahi fish tacos were awesome and the grilled mahi mahi with a spritz of lime hit the spot. Even found out the mahi comes in fresh daily. Pair that with a basket of fries and a ceasar salad and lunch was complete. Even if you're not in the fish kinda mood, the menu's chalk full of Mexican American standards. Plus, the staff is super friendly and the prices are way reasonable.

Came for a Happy Hour on Friday night after work. The place is really nice and chill to hang out and have drinks after a long week. They have a trivia game where you can participate and win gift cards which was different and fun. They have really good drink specials and half off on some of the menu items. We got the nachos and the steak quesadillas which were really good. The only reason i would give this place 4 starts instead of 5 is  because of the time it takes for your food and drinks to actually be served to you.

PS- A friend of mine told me all the tacos are half off on Mondays. Which ive heard they are awesome!

I'm officially a fan of their brunch selection! Cheap, delicious (if somewhat greasy ... this isn't an egg white kinda place) and totally filling. Bottomless mimosas and bloody marys are $10, or $3.75 each. Um, hello day drinking!

So really, you can't go wrong in this college dive. Brunch, afternoon snack, dinnertime drinking ... it's all good.

Came here for the first time to watch the Canes vs Maryland game. This place is a ton of fun, full of excited fans, cheerleaders and even the UM Maniac!
Can't beat the prices!, come here for happy hour between 4-7 , drinks and appetizers are half off!. We shared the Nachos and cheese quesadilla, yummy!
Service is friendly and on point.

An excerpt from the Yelp Bible from the Yelp Reverend

    A Taste of Heaven

On a Wednesday night, the Lord and his disciple, Richard K, were both having a rough week and it was only hump day, so they agreed to meet for beers. However, both were on a tight budget, the Lord had 89 cents, while Richard K was carrying around three George Washingtons of the dollar variety.

Reverend (chiming in): "That would be three dollars for my members of the congregation not blessed with intellect by He".

Decisions were truly limited for the two, but the Lord turned to his disciple and said, "I know you dislike the Grove, but how about "Penny Beer" night at Sandbar. I am buying." Richard K,not wanting to get struck by another bolt of lightning when he last disagreed with the Lord, responded, "Gee golly, sounds like a swell idea."

At Sandbar, the beer was flowing from the limitless penny supply provided by the good Lord. The Wednesday worries were quickly replaced by drunken tomfoolery. Soon thereafter, the supply of five kegs was tapped and penny beer night came to an end. However, it was not the end of the night. Sandbar had "White Trash" Wednesday next on the schedule.

When the Lord found out, He blurted out in a drunken voice, "I thought we only had that in Heaven. Also, what the hell is that smell?"

Richard K replied, "I am pretty sure what you are smelling is my puke. My bad." In a rage, He shouted, "My favorite sandals and robe ruined". As He sat there smoldering, th booty shaking competition began and instantly He smiled. It was filled with women riding women, thongs, women doing booty popping splits, and enough booty shaking to measure a 8.0 on the Richter scale.

Drinks continued to flow with their $1 well shots as did the raunchiness. Next, it was time for pudding wrestling.

In the first match, the women ripped each other's tops off and at that moment, the room was full of dogs as if none of them had seen a pair of boobs in their lives. The first match ended in a forfeit when the white, skinny girl got her panties ripped off by the bigger Latina girl.

In the second match, the exposing party had its boobs at the party. Next, to join the party was a penis' best friend, vajayjay. The disciple and the Lord were really getting a kick out of the pudding wrestling. "Dimples" whooped on "Classy Sassy" and since they were both naked, "Dimples" exhibited her dominance by playing "Little Drummer Boy" on her vajayjay.

Stumbling back to the car, the Lord smiled and said, "How did you enjoy getting a little taste of Heaven?.....and.....My God, I made some nice boobies tonight." "Oops, I used my name in vain." (Laughter). The disciple with a goofy smile responded, "Better than a strip club"

Reverend (chiming in): "What lesson did we learn?".....(pause followed by clueless looks from the congregation)..... I will answer it. First, Sandbar is raunchier than a strip club. Second, if you are broke, go to Sandbar for cheap drinks."

So, I finally made it to the Sandbar. It was on a weekday celebrating the last day of work with a friend. The specials I didn't think were all that great considering what I've heard about this place ($4 coronas). Standard bar food, nothing to really write home about. I did have the interesting experience of trying corn fritters while here. A sweet, deep fried concoction. I'm still not sure what to make of them.

I heard this is normally a crazy college hang out, but it was pretty tame when we were there. They have a bunch of TVs so, it would probably be a decent place to catch a game during the week.

Did anyone know that Sandbar plays the UFC fights for FRIGGIN' FREE?!?!  I feel so left out of the loop here.  Seriously people, keep an arse-whoppin'-addicted woman in the know.  For the love of muscles and semi-homoerotic mat moves.

The Sandbar makes me feel...well...OLD.  Mostly because I've been partying here since it was the Hungry Sailor with its penny beer nights and rock-out ska music.  (Puzzled glares abound from anyone born after 1985 in Miami).  And yes, it's definitely a college hangout.  As someone mentioned before, if you're over 35, know that you've become the resident cougar for the night.

It's also a "fallback" bar of sorts - the kinda place you go to when you want some strong drinks, decent bar food, ok music and don't really feel like putting on much more than a pair of jeans, a tank top and flip flops.

Completely decked out in a threadbare, beach-y fashion, you can count on the Sandbar to get you nice and toasty (Hurricane #5, anyone?) without stressing out your wallet too heavily.  *Especially* during happy hour (4p - 7p) where all drinks and selected appetizers are half off.  The fish tacos are pretty deelish and the wings can definitely hold their own.  A word of advice:  If you love your colon, for He-Man's sake, stay away from their chili.  Just sayin'.

If you're poppin' in after 11pm, you'll notice a shift in the bar scene.  No, they don't slip any of *that* -ish in the Alligator Alley...it just seriously becomes packed and a bit more "club-ish".  The music gets louder, the people get younger and space is in more demand.  Get those elbows and shoulders ready!  10pts for showing a youngin' what the "running man" and "roger rabbit" are all about!

While it isn't my first choice for a casual bar hangout night, the Sandbar isn't disappointing either.  Hook it up with a Hurricane cocktail and *I* just might school *you* on what the running man is all about.  Whatcha got now?

This is a lively happening place to go on a Saturday night. We hit this place on the Mustache Dash Pub crawl, so its hard to say if the bar is great... or just the company.

However this bar was packed, and I had no problems getting a drink. They even had super large sized beers for those crazy enough to drink them. ha ha. No names being mentioned. ha ha

Since I was here at the midnight hours, I never got to try the food and haven't watched a game. But as a night-time bar, I recommend.

I originally intended on only staying long enough to just order dessert here. But thank goodness for my sweet tooth, because this place is a gold mine.  A bit livelier than the rest of the Coconut Grove area and mostly bustling with college students from the nearby University of Miami. Lots of televisions tuned to various sports station, a bar, numerous places to dine/sit.

Anyway, I had myself a key lime pie and nibbled on my boyfriend's fish taco entree (1 baja style, 2 charbroiled). The Baja fish taco had really crispy and tender fish. The charbroiled was alright, fish was a little dry. We both agreed that the Baja fish taco was definitely the better of the two.  The key lime pie was tasty, LOTS of key lime juice and flavor to be found. My only issue with it was that it was more like a key lime cheesecake rather than a key lime pie.

Service was a little slow, but our waitress was at least really helpful and friendly.

And check out the 5 Pound Burrito challenge ($25). Finish it and you get your name on the wall.

I haven't tried the food here, but have stopped a few times for beers or to have drinks after having dinner in the area or taking in a movie at nearby CocoWalk.

As you can see from the photo I posted, this place isn't terribly beautiful or modern looking from the outside. It looks like a building made of old barn wood with various college pennants and decor nailed to it and looks more like a bar you might find in some sleepy little seaside beach or fishing town.  You can either sit outside at one of the high tables and stools along the sidewalk or on the front porch, or inside at one of the bench seats or tables. You can also belly up to the bar. You'll find lots of maritime memorabilia, framed photos, college sports team banners and "stuff" hanging from the walls and ceiling...And lots of flat screen TVs everywhere for watching sporting events.

As mentioned, I've never tried the food here, but they offer a menu which is a step up from typical bar food (burgers, wraps and sandwiches, tacos, burritos, wings, salads and a bunch of different appetizers). All of their sandwiches and wraps were priced the same when I was here - $8.25.

They also usually have different drink specials nearly every night. Last time I was here was a Friday and they had BOGOF on select beers.

Sometimes the service here is OK, at other times not so much.  During my last visit the waitress was there every few moments trying to get us to buy more rounds of drinks almost faster than we could consume them, but then when it came time to get the bill and cash out, it took a while to get her attention.

O.K., so maybe this review isn't fair, since I didn't drink and the drink specials seem incredible, and it is a bar hang out.  But, I was aching for a burger, and since this was a place I hadn't tried in my neighborhood, I figured I would just get the cheeseburger and go.

Service was excellent, and the place was cleaner than one would expect a bar/grill to be.  The burger was o.k.  Clearly, not the reason to go to Sandbar, but, probably satisfying if you are drinking WITH your burger.  The bun was giant, and while the burger was a pretty good size too, it just looked small in the bun.

So, why not give it a better review?  Because I didn't enjoy my burger.  It wasn't made with fresh ground beef.  I know my burgers, and this was a frozen patty, perhaps with a little freezer burn on the edges.  It was acceptable, because to be honest, if you make burgers at home, it is probably from a frozen patty placed frozen on a hot grill--which is how I know the look of a cooked burger made from partially freezer burned patty.  But at a restaurant, I want a fresh burger, without the tell-tale stamped out shape. It was o.k. in flavor, and would probably satisfy if I hadn't been hoping for a good fresh burger.  In fact, it would probably be great if I had been drinking.  So, the lesson learned from this experience:  next time drink with meal.

Yes, I know this is a classic college kiddies bar but I like it.

The second stop on our PJ Pub Crawl adventure. Sam (non-yelper) and I were ridiculously hungry and agreed to share nachos. We didn't think the plate was going to be so big. We tried to coerce other members of our group to eat to no avail. Them nachos were mighty tasty!

The waitress sucked. We had to chase her down for the food, for the bill, to get the bill from her, well pretty much everything. That's why they get three stars.

Otherwise, large bar. Bunch of TVs all over the place. Inside and outside seating. Bartenders good and fast. Nothing else to complain about.

This is my neighborhood bar! Monday they have half off Tacos! The lobster and Shrimp are delicious! Great place to watch football games! As far as partying goes Sandbar is awesome, granted they used to have pudding wrestling, they have cleaned up quite a bit. Hoppin spot for locals on a saturday night, and on thursday (during the school year) you can find it packed with coeds. Drinks are reasonably priced, but you can't smoke inside.
Last year they had a very fun Octo-beer-fest, so if you are in the area in the fall keep an eye out for that!

If you are here to impress a date.. run... go somewhere else.

If you are here to watch a game, have some fun with friends and in general just hang.. come on IN!

We have had the tacos here and they are really good.  Not gonna say "OMG I FEEL LIKE I AM IN MEXICO" good, but hey here in Miami that would never happen anywhere anyway!  So yes, they are a solid yummy.  We also had an order of Calamari,  yum.. its hard to screw up Calamari.. well they had YUMMY Calamari here! Wings?  I wish they served more but oh well..

The beer specials apply to the beer I don't drink (y'kno the generic yellow wimp beer starting with a B, an M or a C and the word "LIGHT" shoud be banned from beer- wtf? You are actually going to WATCH your calories when you drink beer? You WIMP!) Soooooo my beer was regular price which still wasn't bad.

Good beer, good prices, college crowd.

On my recent visit to Miami, i decided to spend an early evening at the sandbar and grill for drinks and eats.  The Sandbar and Grill is a mixture of college pub and sports fanatic sports bar. My favorite thing about this place was definitely the food.

Calamari for starters, then I ordered the Baja tacos with fries and drink.  My gf ordered fajitas.  We killed my baja tacos, they are really good.  The fajitas was good, and the calamari was the best I'd ever had.  The prices of food and liqour isnt too bad either.

The service is mediocre (a mixture of bad and good), and the bathrooms are gross.  Is that a real dead cock roach or a fake one on the floor, either way its disgusting in a restaurant bathroom.  I'm both happy and sad i saw that after I ate, and I have to take a star away for not cleaning that joint up.  I still recommend this place but if you want to keep your appetite, use the bathroom somewhere close by then come here.

So I decided to meet a couple of girlfriends here. They are a bit younger then me..so I can now I understand why they liked this place. Well, apparently on Wed, they have some crazy deal...$0.01 gets you four glasses of beer! I am not a beer drinker so for me...this wasnt anything of a big deal.

I actually felt a little out of place..I believe it was because I was overdressed...

Anyhow, its a cool place to go I guess if you just want to grab some cheap drinks and fried food...just not my cup of tea!

I decided to write about the Sandbar because I could really go for a fish taco right about now.  I used to live in the Grove and as anyone that lives there you just walk to all the neighborhood shops and restaurants and it becomes your little stomping ground.  I only lived in the Grove for about 3 months but while I was there  one of my favorite restaurants was Sandbar.

This place is a gritty College bar that during the day had bums sitting outside and also when I lived there the waitress that we always seemed to get was pregnant and in a little Sandbar tank all the time showing off her belly.  I would never say its a classy place but it is GREAT FOOD.  I worked at FAT TUESDAYS and we would always order take out tacos from the Sandbar.  They have a night I think its Sundays where they have 1/2 price tacos.  They have Chicken, Fish, Shrimp, and beef.  And OMG if your ever in town try them!!!  They are soooo worth it!!!

OK, so from the reviews below, it looks like Sandbar's not doing too well.  What you have to remember about Sandbar is this...  It IS a college bar.  Don't expect anything else from it.  It's UM's local watering hole, with Grove ambiance.

The food is decent, not the best, but you know what, its edible and does the trick.  The Joey Wings are the BEST wings you can get!  Well, I know House of Wings gives it competition, but they are definitely one of the best wing's in Miami, so if nothing else, Sandbar is worth that!

The drinks are pretty cheap, decent prices for the grove.  Shots can be expensive.  The Happy Hour is awesome!  You have items on the menu that are labeled HH for Happy Hour, and they are half price.  All the beer is half price during happy hour too.  So it helps!

Sporting events are a must-see here!  The vibe is really fun and everyone has a good time cheering, no matter what the event!

So give it another chance.  Don't hate on Sandbar!  :)

These Ain't no california nachos but I guess it's better then nothing there edible

Do not have the mixed drinks weak weak weak.....

The Fish and Chips were like some fish sticks but the fries were good at least

The burger was pretty big but not that great
