A great place off Broughton and something different to most Savannah Bars. The people are a little older and more mature, the music is great, and everybody in the crowd is always fun to talk to. The atmoshere is great as it has an Asian/Ethnic vibe. You can have a blast by grabbing some seats if you are there early enough to get them and just hang out with your group, or by dancing. The music/DJ's here are always very good. This is more of an upscale scene so dressing nice is a must. With all upscale spots, be ready to spend some money for drinks while here. It is not the cheapest by all means, but for the different vibe and atmosphere it is well worth a visit here and there. I find myself in Saya once or twice a month.
Review Source:I had my reservations about going to this spot. It appeared to be a tad too uppity for my taste. I dig mellow joints but not to the point of pretension.
Luckily, Saya made a liar out of my assumptions. The layout is beautiful, spacious and calm. My friends and I checked it out on a Tuesday night and maybe ten other patrons came through. The bartender was a cool cat and the music was just what I was looking for - a smooth mix of soul, Hip Hop and Reggae.
I'm not in Savannah often, but when I return I'd like to check out Saya on a busier night. Seems like Savannah shuts down on weeknights, save for the drunken tourists walking about.
No cover, great music, good bartenders, and a nice crowd--all you can ask for on a night out. Â I was visiting Savannah from New York, and my travel companion found Saya via Yelp (thanks guys!). Â The dj spun hip hop, r&b, reggae, and house the whole night, rivaling some of the dj's in NYC. Â I had a great time, and I would certainly come back if I ever come back down to Savannah.
Review Source:I have to agree with Jay B. when he said "he didn't know a place like this could exist in Savannah".....neither did I.
It's one of those places that you walk into and you forget that you're in Savannah, because you had no idea that Savannah could have such a hip spot. I mean the decor is just beautiful, with an Asian/Ethnic theme to it. The crowd was just what we were looking for, a bit older, and mature, and the DJ was good, the way he was mixing was awesome. I really enjoyed it. I wish it was bigger, but hey you can't have everything you want now than can you?
We happened to grab a seat, because we were there early enough, and it's nice to cozy up with your man/woman or chat with your girls over some martinis!!!
Way to go Savannah, at least next time I come down, I won't have to play the "bar hopping" game to figure out whats a good spot.....I just need to head straight to Saya!!!
I have fun every time I go to Saya. Like Marie R. said, there is a good mix of people all hanging out or dancing to the DJ. The lounge is downstairs with an entrance off Broughton. It can get a little hot down there so be sure and drink water in between martinis. The cocktail waitresses and bar tenders are super nice and while finding a spot to sit can sometimes be hard with all the people, the seating is really comfy. I'm glad Savannah has a more upscale lounge like Saya - it is a good change from the bars and pubs at City Market.
Review Source:Fan-friggin-tastic!!
We stumbled into this amazingly decorated basement club apparently a few weeks after it opened. The music was fabulous, the decor was to die for, and let me tell you, I danced my ass off until i could barely walk.
The music was a huge mix of 80's, 90s', Pop, Hip Hop, Bangaa, and Caribbean.
The crowd was a good mix, and though only a few people were dancing, I think that will be changing with more patronage.
Go. Here. Gohere.
