Not worth it for me. Â It was cheap but bad service with portions on the smaller side. Â Yelling across the restaurant and banging plates on the table. Â The servers like to talk "behind the customers back" in Chinese. Â The $3.95 special outside was not on the menu. Â We ordered the sunrise (2 eggs, bacon/sausage, home fries, toast) $4.95. Â We asked for butter but they never gave it to us. Â How they leave the milkettes out on the table also bugged me. Â No idea they had been sitting for and Hawaii was hot. Â They were not big but the breakfast special was bigger. Â At least the pancakes were bigger.
Review Source:Great basic breakfast for cheap!
I got the coconut pancake special for $7.99, which came with bacon, eggs, pancakes. It was more then enough for me. I normally don't even eat pancakes but the coconut dipping sauce for the pancake was soo good. I love coconut!
They didn't add the grat to our bill (I always look at the breakdown items). You just got to check and be nice. Our coffee was filled up all the time, everything was good!
I like the food its really good but the waiter tried to rip me off.
Can you believe that for $2.50 you're going to steal it from your customer . You are forewarned gratuity is already included.
I parked across the street so I told the waiter hey I'm going to go feed the meter and he said wat you have to pay me first so I said sure iplaced 20 on the table . My breakfast, was $11 and a cup of coffee .
Then I asked the waiter hey how much was my bill when I saw he only left about 250 in Change. He said your bill was 17.25 I was thinking Hey funny fuzzy math. Oh well the French toast is good.
When the guy across from said wow this place is cheap look at that they have a 3.95 breakfast special. Anyway I told my waiter can I get a receipt . He comes back with the receipt that says $14.50. What are you kidding me.
So I say hey is gratuity already included. He says yes. Oh my.
Look I was planning to just leave the whole 20bucks you know when he's trying to weasel two dollars out of me give me a break on top of that the tip's already included.
So if you eat at this place lookout for the waiters and for God's sake don't leave any tip because it's already included and make sure they're not charge any extra tip. A.k.a servers service charge.lol
Walked in for breakfast. Took a while to be seated with multiple tables available. As soon as i sat down i was immediately greeted by my waiter and gave me fresh coffee. Ordered the meat lovers burrito which came with home fries and salsa. The decor had the typical hokie hawaiian tourist wallpaper. Signs all over the windows for a $3.95 pancake breakfast which comes with bacon and eggs. They have a bunch of specials for cheap breakfast food. Eating in hawaii- especially in waikiki isnt cheap so sometimes places like this is a relief on your wallet. The food came out pretty quick and the presentation wasnt sloppy. Â Even tho i enjoyed my burrito, i cant help but wish my homefries werent as big but more bite sized.
Over all- not bad. Cheap. Good food. Fast service. Clean.
Walking distance from the Ohana Waikiki West that we stayed at. Trust the reviews and get the coconut pancakes with the coconut syrup! Â They are that good. The fresh OJ was really good too. One of my favorite meals from our trip to Hawaii. Quick and friendly service, reasonably priced.
Review Source:Good value, diner-style place in the tourist area of Waikiki, HI. I really like the Local-style breakfast. The hot tea is quite good, which is rare in the USA. It's a shame they have to remind the non-obviously-American customers about tipping, but I understand why with so many customers whose culture doesn't tip. I find there's no line if you get there just outside popular eating times, as in say 7a or 10a, for instance.
Review Source:Best value in Waikiki. Â I've only been here for dinner but every time I'm in Waikiki I stop in here. Â The atmosphere is admittedly tacky but the food is tasty and plentiful. Â It's "comfort food" and for under $14 you get a complete dinner including a little salad, garlic bread, two entree choices (e.g. steak AND fish), corn on the cob and great roasted potatoes. Â My only hope is that more people come here as it's been rather empty here in recent years and I don't want them to go out of business!
Review Source:Very cheap breakfast... Small portions but perfect for me as u don't eat a lot for breakfast... Coffee is not good so I would suggest to get a juice. Very fast service. Very busy in the morning so you need to be ready to wait in line between 8 and 10.
We went there couple of times as we run out of ideas for breakfast...
Very typical diner. Â Dark, not too busy... CHEAP Breakfast.
We came here for their breakfast .. and I liked that it wasn't too expensive compared to other places on the island. Â Except I didn't really enjoy eating here too much. Â But it was just a meal.
Come here if you are looking to save money. Â The food isn't horrible, but it isn't great.
The Japanese people here are fantastic at stayng busy and keeping things clean. However if you  are light hearted and can take errors in stride, this is a very entertaining place. Orders were mixed up, we had to swap plate items, so what. We laughed it off. If you can't be that way about errors, consider a different place. But the people here are so friendly and polite.
Review Source:My hotel was very close to this restaurant so my friends and I came about 4-5 times during an 8 day trip.
I never came for anything else other than dinner so I am only writing on my experience during breakfast. They have breakfast specials which is a very good deal but I always preferred to get the Spam Breakfast. The staff is efficient and the food comes very quick. I think the breakfast meals are all a good value.
Out of all the times we've been.. they only added gratuity on the bill once which we thought was odd. Other than that, the experience was good.
I ate here for breakfast, had the breakfast special. The price is right and the service is pretty quick. This is more of an  in and out place before starting your day. If you are looking for a good value and don't care about how the place looks then this place is great. Its clean, cheap and fast for breakfast, I don't know about lunch or dinner.
Review Source:Seaside Bar and Grill is right across the street from our condo. I've only had two breakfasts there (so far) but...I'm a fan! This is like a small-town mom and pop restaurant. The staff is friendly and meal is served almost before you finish ordering! (Take a lesson, Eggs 'n Things!) They have daily specials and their prices are very reasonable. To some of the negative commenters, all I can say is if you want linen tablecloths for breakfast and you're OK with $19.95 eggs Benedict, there are plenty of hotels in the area!
Review Source:$3.95 Breakfast plus a 2 for 1 orange juice coupon will fill you up fast but you get what you paid for. If you are a little light on cash or don't feel like wasting money on a crazy breakfast this is the place for you.
The meal is good. eggs, bacon, pancakes but don't expect all that much taste.
Still... it is really cheap!
The food was just ok. I had (I know I know...) the NY Steak special and my buddy had the coconut shrimp. It wasn't bad...but definitely not worth the nearly 40 bucks for two meals. Â You're way better off going to Denny's down the block for larger portions and better food.
The service however was excellent, so I'll bump my rating to a 3 because of that. Otherwise a 1-2 star joint.
We saw this place while on a trolley ride to Ala Moana Shopping Center. Our hotel only has pastries from breakfast so we had to try the $3.95 breakfast. Basically it is scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 bacon strips for $3.95. A great deal in Waikiki where everything is expensive. Not the best breakfast deal we have had, the best was for $2.95 at Bon's Off Broadway in Vancouver, 2 eggs, 2 bacon or 2 sausages, 2 slices of toast and coffee.
Anyway, you can't beat that price for breakfast, The bacon wasn't crispy enough for me, the eggs OK, pancakes were pretty good. Oh I can't complain.
Just beware, when you walk in, they ask if you want coffee or tea. $2.25 each. Â Better deal to take the $2.75 Orange Juice buy one get one free. I didn't like my coffee the first day.
The only thing I didn't like was they included 15% gratuity to the bill. We only had two people, I don't know if they are allowed to do that. I like to be able to decide how much to tip based on the service and food. Oh well, still cheapest breakfast in Waikiki except for the free one we got for watching a time share presentation.
We were looking for a place to eat dinner our last evening in Honolulu and this place seemed like a good place. We went in and tried some of their dinner specials (seafood) and weren't disappointed. Everything was tasty even the little salad that comes with it and the sides. I'm kind of sad we didn't find it earlier, so we could go there more than once. Service was good - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and not too overwhelming and pushy, just the way we like it.
Review Source:When we passed the sign offering 2 pancakes, 2 strips of bacon, & 2 scrambled eggs for $3.95 we knew we had to try it. The food on Oahu is so expensive. Earlier in the week, we spent $27 on breakfast at McDonald's. Â
When we sat down to eat we knew we made the right choice! The food was fantastic. There was even coconut syrup. Â Yum! There was even a special on orange juice as well. The coffee was expensive but cheaper than Starbucks and the decor was charming but dark.
We loved it so much we came back for dinner. Ok we loved the idea of Steak and lobster tail (there were other cheaper options too) for $13.95 with $5 drink specials. We don't know how they make money but we do know if we return, Seaside grill will be a daily hangout.
I was very recently in Honolulu for a conference and since my significant other was with me, we stayed in Waikiki - with its nightlife, shopping, beach, and excellent people watching. Â The last two nights of our trip ended up being pretty late, and both mornings I woke up with a hunger something fierce. Â After having walked by a sign advertising very cheap breakfasts for several days, we finally decided to venture into the Seaside Bar & Grill. Â Upon entering, my partner was welcomed by a mosquito, which decided to have its own breakfast as we were seated. Â The wait staff was mostly Cantonese-speakers (according to my partner, a Mandarin speaker herself). Â A chorus of heavily-accented alohas and mahalos could be heard everywhere, as the wait staff seemed to use these words at every turn, and almost without thinking about them. Â The staff was attentive enough, and kept my coffee cup constantly half-full (except when I actually asked for a half cup near the end of a meal, and they proceeded to pour me a full one). Â However, they were also - by American standards - blunt, non-friendly, shrill, and stern. Â My partner assured me I was not to take this personally.
The food was relatively cheap, especially for Waikiki. Â As other reviewers have pointed out, the coconut pancakes are pretty good, but I will say this is only true if you enjoy things that are sickeningly sweet (the "coconut syrup" might as well be cookie icing). Â It's nothing special, but if you're hung-over, desperate for coffee, and don't mind a dark and tacky interior and a slightly hostile wait staff, I recommend this place. Â We liked it enough to go back two mornings in a row. Â And I choose to believe that the wait staff really liked us more than they let on!
Great spot for a pretty good affordable breakfast in Waikiki. They serve the regular breakfast foods, eggs, pancakes, breakfast meats, etc, some with a Hawaiian twist. My favorite is the coconut pancakes, which are delicious! The service as mentioned by others, is efficient but impersonal, but don't let that stop you from coming in for a yummy breakfast at very reasonable prices. Â The only negative it that a tip is automatically added to the bill. I would have tipped anyway, but for some reason automatic tips are irritating.
In the end, this is a really good breakfast spot!
Our hotel was within walking distance and the prices brought us in.
Its a cozy place with quick service and super cheap. We came here atleast 3 times during our stay. I had their pancakes and the shrimp omelet (Sooo good! a must have)
Great place to save money and get good food and good service.
Every morning we would pass this dark little dungeon when leaving our hotel. Â And every morning, this place would be jam packed. Â As it turns out, this place has the breakfast of champions, and it's all for 3.95. Â That's right baby, 3.95. I'm sorry, but 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pancakes? Â That's cheaper than my usual chick-fil-a fix. Â And for everything to be perfectly prepared? Â No wonder this place is crowded.
As for ambiance...um, no. Â Well, maybe there is some sort of squalid charm in being in a place that hasn't been updated since 1977, Â but this is a basic, bare bones sort of place. Â Any light that could filter inside is effectively blocked by the huge yellow signs that advertise their many specials, but it was light enough for me not to miss my mouth with my fork, so who cares? Â
Service ranged from all business to super friendly, and they don't waste any time. Â Food comes out quick and hot, your coffee cup will never run dry, and did I mention that you leave full and happy? Â Enter into this cave like establishment and start your day off right! Â
P.S. I did read some negative reviews about them adding the gratuity  on, and that was not the case....maybe they only do that after lunch?
My family and I really like this place. You cannot get a better breakfast deal anywhere and especially in Honolulu. We were on vacation and saw the banner advertising breakfast platter of 2 pancakes, 2 bacon strips, and 2 scrambled eggs for $3.95! Seriously?? You can't find that anywhere. That's cheaper than McDonalds. I ordered the Coconut Delight for $6.95. That came with 2 coconut pancakes, 2 eggs anyway, 2 links, and home fries. The food was all yummy. Fluffy pancakes!!! Of course it came with coconut syrup. Mmm. The service was quick and good too.
Definitely a nice place to go when you're on a budget. But the quality is NOT budget quality food.
Waikiki is full of overpriced restaurants, so turning to Yelp to find a cheap breakfast place was definitely a good idea.
Seaside Bar & Grill was walking distance to our hotel. Their coconut pancake special was only $6.95 (pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, homefries). Their pancakes were melt-in-your-mouth and the coconut syrup topped it off 100%.
Service is okay - there's a few waiters/waitresses that are super happy and helpful and a couple others that would just ignore you but overall, pretty awesome place.
If you don't like dive restaurants...stop reading! Â This place is for sure a dive locale for the local crowd. Â Tourists find there way in for a less costly meal and semi-off the beaten path of the bustling Waikiki strip. Â For about $7 bucks you can walk out satisfied not only because your belly is full, but because so is your wallet! Â
"Interesting" staff that barely spoke English, small restaurant, diner style atmosphere, yet settling :) Â It's definitely a get in, eat, and get out joint but service was still good and for the price of the food you can't beat it anywhere in Waikiki. Â Recommend it for a quick meal when you're in a hurry, but definitely not a place to take a first date! lol
Super-cheap breakfast specials listed, but once you get inside, you realize that it's not really a lot of food or a lot of options for that price. It's not false advertising, but more of a bait-and-switch since it's really price that draws people in. The gentleman serving us had a quirky sense of humor but was certainly friendly, which was cool. The ladies working seemed rushed and lacking in manners in a general sense. Food was so-so, nothing to write home about.
Still, it's close to everything, it's cheap, and it's decent. You could do worse. But you could also clearly do much much better.
ONE OF MY FAV BREAKFAST SPOTS ON EARTH
It's approximately a 1 block walk from the beach on Waikiki
I eat here every morning I can when I'm on the island of Oahu (even when staying in Kailua or further). Delicious breakfast, super affordable deals, always ready on the coffee refills - Coconut Delight is DELISH!
My partner is a big dude - 6'4, 230, and he is ready to chop lumber after their Prince Kuhio platter - he loves portuguese sausage and they're usually flexible about subbing other meats out so he can get his fix.
I think they should make a separate listing for this place at breakfast, cuz I bet it would universally get 5 stars - I've never eaten here for dinner, but I could see how for other meals it might be a tad funky. Â But really - the breakfast can't be beat. Â It's not mimosas and fresh picked berries with french croissants - it is amazing DINER BREAKFAST with beautifully delish hawaiian twists
Hate to say this but Sandbox was exponentially better than here, surprising right!?
Came in for the breakfast deal which did not turn out to be such a great deal. First the service was extremely slow. We ordered the buy one get one free deal for the OJ, but there were three of us. So we intended on ordering 1 deal plus 1 extra OJ. After 10 minutes of explaining to the woman what we wanted instead of ending up with 1 extra cup of orange juice we gave up and said give us two OJ specials.
After waiting 15 more minutes for someone to take our order, the man was extremely rude. It was about 9 am and there were only three other families in the whole place so I don't know what his deal was. I asked if I could substitute the eggs in one of the deals and just get bacon, pancakes and potatoes. He gave me a firm "NO" and said I'd have to pay the "side order" price. I said fine, whatever. Once the food arrived (about 15-20 minutes later) my potatoes tasted cold and hard and I asked if I could have them warmed up. I'm sorry I don't enjoy eating stale cold potatoes, sir.
Once we received the bill we were shocked that the 3.75 deal for our breakfast was more than we expected and they had added their own 15% gratuity. we paid our bill and left.
Never again.
