Let me start by saying that I'm a *bit* of a brunch snob. This place? A little gem? I beg to differ.
Firstly, they only serve one type of coffee and don't offer soy milk, which is absolutely bonkers in a state like Vermont, which has tons of eco-minded vegans and vegetarians.
Secondly, the serving sizes were pitiful and the quality/originality of the food wasn't anything to write home about. When asked which would be more filling, the cornmeal pancakes (which were described as "not as thin as a crepe, but thinner than a pancake") and the french bread french toast, she recommended the corncakes. My husband ended up ordering the french toast and *both* dishes were tiny, not nearly filling enough for a day of snowboarding, and lacked depth of flavor. At least they served real Vermont maple syrup - the only saving grace. On top of that, the menu lacked diversity and had no unique breakfast meats, like turkey sausage - only the usual meats like bacon, sausage and ham. Major womp.
Thirdly, our server was either having a bad day or is just generally disinterested in her job/customers (I'm a server, and I invest myself in my customers - I know they're my livelihood - this young woman clearly didn't seem to have the same opinion).
Having spent the previous breakfast at Up For Breakfast (just a few blocks away), we were completely let-down by this breakfast joint. Just save yourself the disappointment and go to Up For Breakfast instead.
This little gem in the depot district of Manchester, help fuel my snowboarding excursions, during my stay up near mount stratton. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and is pretty quick to fill up on most busy days, so try and get there early.
The service as most things upstate was top notch. The grub selection sources from most local offerings, i had the Corned beef hash one time and the herbed scrambled eggs the other and was very pleased with the plates. I even washed it down with some fresh squeezed orange Juice.
So if you don't want to end up being a grumpy soul for not having a good breakfast to start your day right , you know now where to go.
Disappointing....ordered pancakes and something called corned beef for breakfast...pancakes were just fluffy but nothing spectacular, syrup & butter too ordinary..the corned beef not what we expected, it was dry and felt like chewing on lil squares of cartlages...hot chocolate would've been ok if not too sweet. Will not go back again. The waitress was nice enough though, was past breakfast time but let us order from bf menu.
