While on a recent vacation in Oakland, my aunt and uncle took my husband and me to this small bar/restaurant for lunch.  We really loved it, beginning with the PISCO SOURS!!   This is  the national drink of Chile, where I lived for two years.  It is not something many bars serve, so I was surprised to see it on the menu.  When the drinks arrived, they looked gorgeous and tasted perfect.  The owner/manager (?) was kind enough to come to our table and give us the low-down on the locally distilled pisco that Sidebar uses in its pisco sours.  The brand is Marian Farms, and it is made right in California.  I can't get it at home in Milwaukee, but you California folks should check it out!

All four lunches were beautifully presented, and the taste was delectable.  I had a watercress salad with trout that was perfect.  I would definitely come here again.

Sidebar has really great cocktails, the food is good and it stays open late, which is a pretty unique thing in the East Bay.  I am a fan of their chicken thighs dish, the deviled eggs and the hamburger.
