The Silver Palm

Good value, simple, no fuss food. Huge portions...almost too big. A nice place, although I think the Anthony Bourdain hype is overrated. The ribs are amazing.

My buddy was in town for the Super Bowl and he happens to be a huge Anthony Bourdain fan. Going to the Silver Palm for the Three Little Pigs was on his Chicago bucket list. We went on Friday night after Second City. We got a table in the train car and loved the atmosphere. 4 out of 5 of us got the Three Little Pigs. It is definitely not low calorie. It was a good sandwich - not great. Definitely gets gluttony and unique points. I think my only complaint was that it was a little dry. Perhaps some honey mustard or some other sauce/condiment might have helped. The other person in our group got the duck sandwich which he raved about. There were definitely other things on the menu that I wanted to try. Pretty good beer selection as well.

I'm not exactly sure why this place is rated so poorly and I refuse to look at my fellow Yelper's reviews for fear it will influence my sacred duty as an impartial ranker.  I also don't understand why The Matchbox is a separate Yelp entry, one that is held is such high esteem.  To me these places are one in the same and the reviewers got it right with The Matchbox.

The Silver Palm is well above average bar food with very interesting twists. The Southern Pacific Railway's Duck Club Sandwich is my go-to but really everything they offer is delicious.  Plus, for the bold they offer the famous feat of gluttonous excess (redundant?), the Three Little Piggy.  If you love food, specifically the act of force-feeding yourself over-indulgent, artery-clogging awesomeness, then eating the Three Little Piggy should be an experience akin to seeing the Louvre is to an Art buff (Three Little Piggy:glutton::Louvre:Artist).
