Do you want fries with that? It'll cost you!

We stopped here for lunch and I had a burger: $1 for cheese, $1 for bacon, $1 for 10 fries... draft beer was $7 for a tall. Overall, we spent a LOT of money for an "okay" lunch, the burgers were clearly patties.

We would have been happy eating at Chick Fil A's instead.

So where do I start... The beer was great. Oh but wait that's not made here!  So the food came to the table and that's when it went down hill... Ever been served a rubbery raw fatty rib, the whole half rack.  Amateur would be putting down so many great small businesses, so let's just call it a failing business. The managers solution to a death attempt was a free desert.  If you really want BBQ and ol' SB is busy, I heard the mcrib is back.

Wings are to die for and probably the best I have ever had. Nice robust smokey flavor. various style of BBQ sauces on the table are a bonus. Though the pulled pork and brisket were good, there not the most tender or smokey flavor I have had. I will more then likely come back.

OK. It was Friday night and it was very busy, but the service and food was bad. For starters, we were seated at a table without utensils and had to ask for them when the food was brought out. My wife ordered a steak salad and they served something else. I ordered a steak cooked medium and it was undercooked. There were six in our party, four women who only ordered salads and yet the food came out in five to ten minute intervals. I visited other Smokey Bones and had a much better experience. I would avoid this one.

I eat here once a year with my family after Christmas.  There is usually about 12 of us and so we have never had any issues.  Food is good...I usually get the ribs.  The wait staff is friendly, food came out in a reasonable time considering there is 12 of us and drinks were always full.  We go to the one out at Greenbrier and it is a chain so I cant speak for any of the other ones.

More of a sports bar atmosphere...

Its big and has a lot of televisions, a large bar and a gigantic menu. The food was ok and it did take a long time for our food to arrive, it did have flavor and was tasty. Drinks were strong all night and that s what I like, not overpriced like outbacks BS cocktails. I try to stay away from chains like this but sometimes your not the one making the decisions.

I dont really have anything bad or great to review, it was an ok experience for my first time! I think I knew what it was going to be like before I arrived....I was right

I hit this place up on a Monday night for a quiet birthday dinner with a friend. The server was pretty quick and attentive throughout the night, bringing refills and additional items before we needed to request them. For that I'd give 5 stars. The food was a different story for me.

If you are an aficionado of the beloved Q whether it be Memphis, Carolina, Kansas City, Texas or Virginia style, please skip this spot. This is like the Applebee's of Q. I ordered the brisket (staple at any BBQ spot for me) which came with a choice of two sides. I went with broccoli and mac and cheese.

Let's start with the brisket. The cut strips of meat were pretty thin in texture, chewier then I'd expected and not as smokey as I would've liked. Perhaps I should've gone for the ribs since these sorts of places seem to add brisket to their menu as an after thought, instead focusing primarily on ribs. The broccoli was steamed and seasoned nicely with what seemed to be sea salt and garlic. It wasn't crunchy though so if that's your preference, alert your server when you place your order. The mac and cheese reminded me of the frozen Stouffer's brand baked with real cheese on top. Skip it and order the loaded mashed potatoes instead.

For dessert I ordered one of their Sweet Shots, a small dessert stuffed into a shot glass since that was all I had room for. Being the good southern girl that I am, I went with the bread pudding. I should've passed. It was less of a bread pudding and more like bread stuffed in a glass with whipped cream on top. Lol Disappointing for sure.

To be fare, I feel the need to revisit this place to try the ribs, burgers and a different dessert to make a proper assessment. Service was outstanding (5 stars) ! The food....meh (2 stars).  Which brings it around 3 stars.

If anyone has had an amazing item on the menu, please suggest it for me to try out and I'll post another review.

I'm going to go with four stars...I'm taking the plunge. Honestly? It is probably two and a half to three for the food; pretty much your run of the mill corporate/cookie cutter/chain restaurant food, but the service always, always comes with a smile, and your drink is never empty. In fact, I have to admit that last night I grabbed a quick beer at the bar ($2.50...über cheap), and tonight my husband wanted ribs, so we were back for dinner. Two nights in a row was a bit much, but whatevs. He has some loyalty card thing, so somehow an appy, salad, two entrees, AND drinks for two managed to be $17. Anyways, they have just about everything on the menu, but save room for the mini doughnuts. They are probably the best thing on the menu. I literally have come for beer, and those hot, delicious bits of heaven. Yes, I am that girl.

OK, so I was in town on business and was hungry for some decent Q.  I, being an avid viewer of "BBQ Pitmasters", was stoked when I saw Leann Whippen's WoodChicks BBQ was fairly close.  Better check the reviews just in case..........Wow, I was surprised at the terrible reviews.  So, I passed.  Still hungry for some Q and not wanting to venture far, I wind up here.

So here I am sitting at a chain BBQ restaurant.  At least one that advertises that it does BBQ.  I settle in at the bar fully expecting a 2 star experience.  Well let me tell you what kids, it was almost a 2 start experience.  Had everything not gone wrong, it would have been fully deserving of a 2 star rating.

I sit at the bar and meet the tender, Adam.  He takes my drink order and then my food order.  It took ten minutes to flag him down to get some splenda for my unsweet tea.  He was pretty busy with the other 7 customers he had, I guess.  So i order the combo.  Pulled pork, brisket, and wings with a side of beans and fries.  I order the wings garlic buffalo flavor.  He comes back a few minutes later and says "garlic parmesan" on the wings right??  I said nope, garlic buffalo please.  No problem and away he goes.  Oh by the way, my tea is gone and so is he.........

Food arrives, or something that sort of resembles food.

Pulled Pork-Very moist and tender.  It tasted like somebody dumped 5 pounds of salt on it.  WTF???  I didn't put any sauce on it because i always want to taste the meat first, then make a sauce decision.  People, sauce wasn't going to save this!

Brisket- This was what I will call 50/50 brisket.  It was 50% brisket and 50% fat.  Literally.  No joking.  It was dressed in some sort of BBQ sauce that wasn't going to help it either!

Wings- Garlic Parmesan.  Yep.  Not Garlic Buffalo, even though i ordered them twice.  Tasted terrible.  Told Adam and he froze.  He was thinking "oh my god, what do I do?????  I said just bring me some hot sauce to dump on them.  He did.  It was terrible as well.

Tea is empty again.  Need lots to drink to wash this shit down.  Hello!

Beans- Tasted like i was eating beans with sugar on them.  Really really sweet.  No thanks.

Fries-Hard to screw them up.  Guess that was the only thing that was OK.  It would have been nice if i could have gotten some ketchup, but oh well.

So I ask Adam for the check.  He brings it.  Guess what?  It was wrong.  What a surprise!  Please remove the Bud Light from my bill.  I just had tea.  A little bit of tea....................

I kept my expectations in check here and I got what I already knew was coming.  A bunch of crap!

Smokey Bones is a great middle-of the road restaurant in Town Center when you want to take someone to lunch or dinner, but you don't wanna ask what their budget is. It is a very laid back environment but still has the cool factor with the sports bar in the middle of the restaurant. Most of the time there is not a terribly long wait, but to me it is worth the wait.  I HEART their BBQ Chicken! The service is always very nice and I found out today that they have free wi-fi.

What happened to happy hour? I went here around 5 and the server says no specials on food, just drinks. Last time I went to Smokey Bones in Newport News and their HH was something like 1/2 off all appetizers. :(

Food was mediocre. I had The Cuban sandwich (greasy and overly toasted) with fries (good but skimpy amount) and BBQ baked beans (too saucy, need more beans). I had some of my friend's kettle chips for an app: small portion, but tasty trio of dipping sauces. Beware: these are more like round french fries than potato chips.

Our server wasn't very knowledgeable. She didn't know about happy hour specials, so had to ask the bartender. When I presented a 10 off 20 coupon, she said "are you sure you want to use it?" Then she split our checks and swiped my friend's card twice.

Was able to get seated quickly for a saturday night but after eating then we understand why.  Ordered a sampler platter to start and it was good just the right amount for the two of us. I ordered salmon and my friend got ribs and smoked sausage.  It took an hour to get our food and the salmon was overcooked and the bake potato was luke warm. Smoked sausage was over smoked and dry and there was only 3 ribs that could of used sweet baby rays sauce. For the $50 that it costed we were not happy at all.

It was so damn cold in here!! Dont make no sense in November to have NO heat.  Selection was very slim but I must admit I enjoyed my Turkey Avacado Burger.  My friends ordered some Asiago pasta that looked dry as bricks and request extra sauce.  You know they had the nerve to want to charge a dollar extra!! I complained at it was free.  Not gonna have us sit here in the cold and serve us dry pasta and expect us to pay extra!!! I really dont see myself going back honestly

I've eaten here twice now and i think it's pretty good. Both times were for lunch and both times I had the buff-a-que wings and the brisket sandwich. I liked it and the service was pretty good too. Hubby has eaten here for dinner before and said he preferred the lunch. All in all, not bad and I would eat here again.
