Great place to watch a game! Â I especially enjoy stopping by the south side when I know Hammer is behind the bar working hard. Â A little confused with a guy they call Hungo, or maybe it's Mungo, he walks around this establishment as if he owns it.....he reminds me of the little fat white kid from the movie The Hangover but only with a penis tattoo......I would definitely recommend this place when watching a game
Review Source:Absolutely horrible. Â The floor is always soaking wet with beer, it's always obnoxiously loud with a mixture between college-aged kids and 40-somethings playing 'frat house'. Â The beer selection is limited to Bud Light, Budweiser, and Heineken--and only bottles. Â Literally nothing on tap.
If you're not allowed to have parties at your apartment (and your parties usually consist of a bunch of obnoxious kids you don't know ANYWAY), then this place is for you. Â Except expect to pay a lot more for the same bottled beer you can get down the street.
On the weekends they have live bands, which is the only redeeming quality about this place and the only reason it's not getting one star, as it operates much better as a small venue while the dive-bar atmosphere fits the live band vibe nicely.
If you want to go to a bar, go to a real bar. Â If you want to go to a sports bar with great food, go to Coop's. Â If you want to watch a bunch of drunk frat boys yell at each other while hitting the "Punching Machine" in the corner, women in their mid-40's pretend to dance to music they've never heard before, and the staff ignore spilled beer, dirty bathrooms, and paying customers trying to order food, while you enjoy a $4 bottle of Heineken, go to the South Side Tavern.
If I could do 3.5 I would. This place is kind of like a legal frat party with great tvs and actually really good food. Â I kind of envision it as a place where the might be a good drunk ruckus before closing time on Saturday nights. Â We got there at 6 on a Friday and no one was eating but that's actually why we went. Â No table service, you order at the bar (which was fine). Weird that our beers had to be poured outside but whatever. Â The nachos were really good and the burgers were really well-above average. Â The waitress did literally wipe food off our table with her bare hand but honestly, I wasn't too surprised? (Nor was I offended, I mean, I wasn't eating off the table!). Â I wasn't quite sure the toilet was actually secured to the ground but overall it was an adventurous time and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to watch the game, grab a few beers, and have some good pub food.
Review Source:Dive bar in my neighborhood that I can walk to. Been a few times and it's good for a casual night out at the bar. Food is ok. pizzas and typical bar food. Waitstaff is friendly and there seems to be a bunch of regulars when we go. When I drive by on weekends there seems to be a younger crowd outside so is probably a mixed bag depending on what night you go.
Last time I was there they were setting up beer bong but we had to leave unfortunately. Would like to make it back for that since it seems to be a weekly thing.
used to be called the Cottage and I think a lot of peoples reviews fall under that heading.
The South Side Tavern is literally 4 doors down from my house, has great bar pizza, and is a good spot to catch the game. It's small, as it's former name (The Cottage) suggest. The staff is friendly and the place can get pretty busy. There's a tiny outdoor seating area and plenty of parking spaces. There's been beer pong here on Thursday nights, which I think is pretty awesome.
