My wife and I have been twice, once for dinner, once for brunch.  Both were outstanding.  For dinner we did tomato and watermelon salad, seared foie gras with caramelized apples and a port reduction over brioche toast, grilled octopus with chorizo and fingerling potatoes, brussels sprouts and blistered shishito peppers.  Everything was superb.  The service was top-notch, attentive without being intrusive, and table visits from the owners and managers, who were charming, made us feel very welcome.  For brunch we split a marinated beet salad with honey ashen goat cheese, walnuts and arugula, and a ricotta and mushroom frittata topped with mixed greens, shaved parmesan and a very light lemony-caesary dressing.  Amazing.  Looking forward to going back.

Amazing experience! The food and the service were both perfect. The menu changes weekly, the food is sourced locally ( where possible) and the staff is helpful and knowledgable.

Phenomenal. Everything.  Food was great, service was wonderful, drinks were impecable.  We stayed there for, I'm embarrassed to say, 7 hours.  And it was over before we knew it.

I've come to the conclusion this is the best cornbread I've ever had, and I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur.

This place is quintessential SONO.  It's the perfect blend of fine food, great bar and cool atmosphere that the neighborhood should be known for.  The owners/ managers /bartenders are among the best and most experienced in the area, which helps explain why it  was an instant hit. Cuisine and service rivals similar restaurants in NYC and there are few better places to be on a warm summer night when the "garage doors" are open.  Regardless of the season, whether you're in the mood for a sit down dinner or a hang at the bar (or both!), The Spread is a great choice.

It's great to have another great restaurant here in SoNo.   My friends and I were impressed by the food, service, and atmosphere.  The front door is flanked by two huge garage doors that they open up when the weather permits.  As a foodie who lived in Manhattan for 8 years, my expectations were high and I wasn't disappointed.  This is now one of my favorite spots in SoNo along with Barcelona, Mama's Boy, and SoNo Bakery.

Yummy gnocchi, chef sent pork belly to die for! Bartenders/ owners are truly amazing, fun, knowledgable and hospitable- charming to say the least. Fun place, and then the Dj started....probably shouldn't have had that tequila shot! But oh it was worth it!

2nd time for Brunch and even more impressed.   The menu changes frequently so you can't wish you are going to get the same dish you enjoyed the last time... but the new dishes you try easily become another favorite.   I love the ambiance of the place brining the garden outside inside the place.   The wait staff, super friendly, attentive and funny.   A MUST GO!  I will definitely go again and again for lunch or dinner any day.   Their changing menu keeps me interested to find out what surpirse yumminess to experience.  :)

Great food!  Def worth trying.  The only bad thing about this place were the drinks, not sure if there was any alcohol added. Next time I will be having wine, you can't cheat there.

Yummy for sure - both the food and wine choices and the Latin bartender.

Great space makes you feel as if you could be in NY or LA.  Wonderful bar area.

    Plenty of interesting vegetarian options.

Would likely return sooner if not in SoNo - for some reason I don't really like going down there.  I find it easier to head into NYC.  Or, would also return if they were open mid-day.  I like my day drinking and eating.

One of my besties and I were wandering around on the Sunday after Nemo with nothing to do...so we decided to hit brunch. Spread is where we ended up. First off, love the layout. Open and inviting. Music was perfect. We were two of the first people in there and opted to sit at the bar--but were offered a table. The bartender was welcoming and came right over with both food and drink menus. We opted for their version of a bellini-which was delicious!! For food, we went with their version of a croque monsieur and eggs Benedict. Both were phenomena; everything was fresh and well cookedl. I personally enjoyed the sandwich a bit more over the eggs...but I have a soft spot in my heart for that dish. I definitely will be back to try dinner!

Ate here last night with friends celebrating birthday. Table in bar area not lower floor as requested. Restaurant was loud, loud, loud. Couldn't have conversation across table. Service was horrendous. No bread to start. Appetizers came out in dribs and drabs. Multiple waiters. Rude attitudes. Asked for drink. Didn't arrive. Have to ask repeatedly for everything--drinks, food, utensils....Entrees came out one by one. It was my friend's birthday and 2 of us got meals, eventually the 3rd came out. Then we waited & waited. Finally had to find waiter to find out what happened to the birthday girl's meal. Called for owner to express dissatisfaction. Owner was rude. Apparently had forgotten the cardinal rule: the customer is always right. The food was ok, but the service and attitudes were unconscionable. I predict they'll be out of business in a year just like the restaurant, Tuscan, they ran into the ground in New Canaan.

I have to say this is a fun and great restaurant.  If you want a relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food, this is you place.  My only problem was not being able to taste all the food.  A good reason to return soon.  Great specialty drink menu that certainly has diversity for all thirsts.  The food is sort of tapas style for the most part but has some larger meals that serve as a traditional meal as well.

There is something for everyone!  We had wonderful cheese and meats to start, then a fig/lardo (fantastic), steak tartare (wonderful and the fries rival the best I've ever had and that's saying something...but don't tell my wife!), carrots (what a wonderful taste on them), beet salad (I hate beets but my wife wanted them... and I have to say I think I ate almost as much as she did, that good), gnocchi (a must have) and the brick chicken which I have to say was perhaps the best chicken I've ever had.  It was succulent and simply melted in my mouth.  Not something I'd ever expect to say from a chicken dish in a restaurant.

Well you can see that I just wanted more of everything as there was nothing that disappointed.  Enjoy!

I had very nice experience dining at this new, unique restaurant last night. The food in this place is served on the antique china while you are sitting by the table that is made of rustic farm door. Restaurant has big bar area and a small lounge area, open kitchen, living wall and two large windows that can open up like a garage door.
The service was great and food was just amazing! For the starters I enjoyed Kale salad (that was prepared just like caesar salad with fried anchovies, parmesan cheese and croutons) and Cabbage salad (with truffle mushrooms and hazel nuts). Both salads were delicious. For the entrée I had cheeseburger, which was by far best cheeseburger I had in America.  My husband enjoyed Beef tongue, Octopus salad and Hanger steak. He was very pleased with his choices too.
I can't wait to go back there!

I went here the other night with a friend. We were actually at Barcelona and it was packed and too busy for a quick bite to eat.  So i mentioned to her about The Spread..some of the managers of Barcelona got together and opened a new restaurant.  I've heard from other friends about their experiences some great and some not so good.  I ordered the Organic Egg and Shrimp with Polenta.  Both dishes were amazing.  The Organic egg had sardines and basil on top of a crostini.  The shrimp dish was simple and tasty.  The service was okay, too many people helping you it got confusing.  Its a must try...

Great food, attentive service, excellent beer/draft selection, nice decor - modern, but not trendy obnoxious. Enough light so you can see your food and crew. The night I was there, it was not loud but i can see how if filled with people and music going - it could get noisy - but that was not my experience.

I sat at the bar chatting with a friend for a few hours, we knocked back a few drinks and a light dinner - and it was great. I had a burger - my basic test of a restaurants kitchen on the first visit - and it was great - cooked through on a nicely toasted bun with some spot-on crispy fries. Served with some fresh greens - this reasonably sized burg was just what i needed.

My dining partner had some killer looking mussels, i barely got one before she snarfed 'em down. It was really good...

Lots of parking (lessening pre-meal stress), reasonable prices, great food, good beer selection, a crew who works there that obviously cares and wants you to have a good experience.

My ONLY gripe is pretty silly, maybe even ridiculous - don't hate me for it - I wish the beer taps had the handles that identified the variety.... lol, i know, i know.... i'll sit down now and shut up

I am definitely going to go back and do some free-ranging on the menu, this is a place I can see becoming a "go-to" spot. The clincher for me is the owners are all local smart, young dudes who have designed the place they wanted to not only work at, but would frequent....they did a good job - this is the type of place I'll support with my business

We must have hit it on an off night. We arrived and were seated in the middle of a hallway and the waitress kept having to squeeze by to access the table next to us. This would have been fine if the food was exceptional but it was fair to good. We ordered the duck terrine which was nice. The farm egg was ok but any egg flavor was overwhelmed with the dressing. The gnocchi was the best dish of the night. Light, fluffy potato pillows with an excellet sauce. The pork belly was fair. The meat was tough and stringy in parts. But the dish showed a lot of potential if cooked properly. The service seemed scattered during the night with dishes being lost and the kitchen seemed overwhelmed. Thinking of going back on a different night and hoping for a better experience.

Couldn't tell if the food was any good or not as the music was SOOOO LOUD we didn't bother to stay. We ended up going down to the Gingerman instead. Loud music is fine, but it was so loud it was painful. Hopefully the DJ they had on Jan 11th will read this and realize his music was too loud and the SPREAD lost my money due to it.

Oh, and walking through the crowd of smokers huddled by the main door was great too !

Chef Arik Bensimon is constantly re-inventing himself in an effort to bring to us unique ingredients and preparations.  For instance, you must try the Beef Tongue with arugula, truffle and bruschetta.  Wow!  (BTW: If you get hung up on the main ingredient in this dish, you will be missing out on something delicious).  Or how about the Octopus Tandoori?  I mean!  Who would have thunk?!!!

I loved how the Octopus Tandoori with Chickpea Porridge brought together wonderful Indian/middle eastern flavors to my palate.  One of my favorite elements of this dish were these really crunchy whole chick peas that brought a wonderful textural note to the dish and managed to elevate the chickpea porridge to a new level.  Well done, Arik!

A favorite of mine was the Harissa Mussels.  So yummy!  The harissa was wonderfully incorporated in the broth so as to add to the depth of flavor but not overwhelm the dish with spicy notes.  I was so glad they gave us the big spoons with it to sop up all the goodness in that bowl.  The white wine aioli served with the bread alongside this dish added a well-paired and slightly tangy note to this dish.

Excellent restaurant with an interesting menu. Some of the apps were just okay such as the beef tongue and lardo with figs. Entrees were delicious! The chicken with polenta, veal and pasta dishes were all amazing. Menu is similar to Napa and Co. but a lot more affordable.

The bar is great. The owners, I believe bartend, and it's awesome. But, it's way too loud and the food is over priced and scattered. If it was smaller and quiet I could understand the pricing. But all in all, great bar, good food, but dim the damn the music down. Is it a club or restaurant?!? Make up your mind!

    YUM!

I am eating the leftovers of wild mushroom gnocchi as we speak and was compelled to review my experience from last night.

The staff was very friendly, genuine, informed and attentive. The food was inventive, delicious and served on mismatched colorful vintage china. Loved that.

The atmosphere is lively, thoughtfully designed and worth returning for a date night. Do be prepared to raise your voice to be heard by your fellow diners, as the music is loud, but I really am not complaining.

I'll be back soon. Oh! Especially intrigued by Mad Men themed NYE party!? That's worth the purchase of a new dress with tulle....

BIG FAT 5 STARS!! The Spread is what SoNo has been missing. I could barely wait to go here and finally went last Friday night. The service was excellent, our water glasses were never empty, our courses were brought promptly and our server made great suggestions. Finally a place with interesting cocktails (no canned juices or gross pre-mixed anything here, Washington St take note) and a creative, eclectic menu. If you're tired of the same old menus everywhere, you will appreciate the eclectic choices here. Everything was delicious especially-wait for it-the beef tongue with arugula and truffle. Some people are scheeved by eating tongue, but if you can eat a hot dog you can certainly get over it and try tongue. Its just like really tender slices of beef. So good. And the creme brulee is the best one I can remember having. Cant wait to go back and try more things and eat more tongue. 4 of us each ordered a cocktail and shared 6 plates and 2 desserts and it came out to a very reasonable $40 per person. It gets busy around 8pm so I suggest making a reservation. Only drawback was the noise. It has an industrial style with a high ceiling so all sounds are amplified. Not unbearable, but worth mentioning. Go, and enjoy!

Very cool place. Great vibe. Excellent service. Everybody there is helpful and nice. Most of the food is amazing. The cheeseburger is my fave. but there is a dish or two that needs a tiny tweak. Like maybe the lamb chop has way too much butter. Also, the menu is confusing. Apparently there are different "courses," but it doesn't really indicate that. So people's food may come out at different times, which isn't really a big deal. But for instance, I ordered the scallops, which I thought was an entree, but there were only 2 scallops on my plate which makes me think I ordered an appetizer version.  Luckily, the scallops were amazing, and Im not a big eater so I didn't mind. Just wish I had been more aware of how their menu works.

Soup to nuts these boys hit it out of the park!  You are first hit by the vibe when you walk in the door.  Best looking bar/restaurant in the area.  Met a friend for dinner and drinks on a Thursday night.  I started with the steak tartar..excellent!  Comes with perfectly seasoned fries, which was a surprisingly awesome pairing.  She had the country pate (not my thing) she thoroughly enjoyed it.   Both were decent sizes.  We also had cornbread which did not disappoint!  We then shared the  Gnocchi.  Well, these little pillows from heaven were almost seared on the outside and the mushrooms that accompanied them were the outstanding.  If you are a fan of mushrooms this dish is for you!   We had a signature dink to start..can't remember the name but it was a gin drink w ginger beer, very good.  We switched to wine which our waiter suggested as a dry white w no oak.  LOVED IT!  Wish I took a pic of the bottle for future reference.  The service was fantastic.  Oh, and the music was perfect.  This is a detail I feel that restaurants in the area seem to forget about and kill the overall experience.   Great music playing the entire time!!  Excited to come back when there is a DJ.  You can tell that these guys know what they are doing!  Could not be happier about a place that is going to breathe new life into SoNo!  It was long overdue!!!!

Great food, friendly service...upbeat, fun vibe!! I went to The Spread with a friend around 8pm on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but we were able to get seats at the beautiful wood-top bar. Andre at the bar recommended delicious wines. We ordered the beef tounge (absolutely, melt-in-your mouth wonderful!  Not something I would have typically tried but I am so glad I did), the octopus (delicious, pretty small portion though), the steak tartare with french fries (steak was perfectly spiced with capers and a bit of onions) and the steamed mussels (fresh, delicate broth). I was really impressed with the food. It's hard to find a good, fun vibe in the area lately...but this place definitely has it! I'll be back :)
