End of story: Classic French Bistro food in New Canaan. Go there for the steak and frites.
We go to Boulevard 18 quite often, probably the most of all the restaurants in town. Â I would have given the restaurant 4 stars but have noticed that food consistency is going down a little bit. Â For example, I was blown away by the French onion soup the first time I had it, but most recently, the soup I had was too sweet. The potato-wrapped sea bass was succulent and crispy the first time I had it and flaccid the second time. Â Not good.
Still we go for the gougeres and steak and frites, which my kids love. I also love the kale salad. Service is also very good.
Very nicely done table settings white table cloths, beautiful crystal etc.. We had the Halibut special very good. Â They still have growing pains staff gathers in corners chatting people moving things through the restaurant while dinner service is going on. Â They couldn't find the bottle of wine I ordered they eventually did &Andrea our Server apologized.
Not an inexpensive place as a matter of fact very pricey. Â Good not great.
Just okay. Went back for a second visit it's Just okay not great &with the tariff they charge they have to be great. Â Maybe we'll give it another try not sure.
It's a good restaurant. Â People are very friendly and the owners are nice guys too. Â Two women sat down and were blabbing all night long and wouldn't leave our table for our 8:00 reservation. Â They comped us some appetizers and we had a nice time at the bar, and then gave us a nice big table, while they apologized profusely for something that was completely out of their control. Â The food was very good and they make excellent drinks also.
