I really like this place. The food tastes like home cooking, Korean style, and you get so much I can never finish it all in one meal. I love the touches of all the Korean side dishes you get with meals -- the homemade kimchi is wonderful.
You have to try their homemade Red ginseng tea.
The owners/staff are really nice and always very accomodating. I live nearby so stop in to pick up carry out more often than eating in and get wonderful service never the less.
Eating in is warm and enticing though as the sizzling platters coming your way make receiving your food seem extra delicious.
Homey ma & pa restaurant that I'm really surprised isn't more busy. Slow-cooked samgyetang (ginseng cornish hen soup) made by a sweet Korean grandma. This is as authentic as it gets. The broth is delicate and has the perfect hint of ginseng. It is nice being able to add my own sea salt to taste, and the traditional bean rice is delicious. Â
Ssyal offers honest-to-goodness food you can't find nowadays. Really friendly service and great food. A must, especially on those cold days or when you're craving some comfort food! You leave feeling all warm and good inside.
