Ok...so I completely didn't notice the "gay bar" label when we were yelping for a good place for drinks...which shortly became quite apparent when all of the patrons were male and this bartenders were equally well oiled, tanned, and muscle bound. That being said, this was one of the most interesting bars that I've visited in a long time. The place definitely has a bar/club vibe and it was near immaculate. The drinks were very affordable and there's even a ginormous tv near the end of he bar with awesome 90s music video on the background.
Overall, I would definitely come back again and recommend everyone to come for for a great time and cheap drinks.
Ambiance: 5 stars

"It's always a good time!"
A small little hole-in-the-wall transformed into owner Michael's cowboy/stable fantasy. Â Allows for a large group of patrons to enjoy the atmosphere with tasty cocktails. Â The bartenders are always very courteous and knowledgeable, using the latest cutting-edge recipes to keep us all coming back for more!
I've had many good experiences here at The Stable with my friends and even my mother! Â The music videos are always current (unless it's an 80's retro special) and entertaining!
Here's to many more years of business!
You don't have to be gay to LOVE a gay bar! Every time I go, the company is great, the bartenders are always on point and friendly and I never want to leave. I always feel welcome and the atmosphere is so inviting and enthusiatic. I love their sangria! Red, white and pink! YES! Parking kind of stinks but it is well worth it!
Review Source:I love Stable!! This bar is the best! Whether your gay or straight, early 30's or late 50's, this is the bar for everyone.. The staff is super friendly, very attentive and the drinks are great and prices are very reasonable. The best part, on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night, NO COVER!!! The patio in the back is a nice place to relax and have a drink! Would I recommend this place, ABSOLUTELY! Michael Slade, you are the BEST! Stop in, ask for Michael and ask for a Sangria, I've never had a better Sangria than his!
Review Source:I LOVE the Stable.........yes, it's a gay bar, however...... even if you are not gay.. (and I'm not)... you will feel so comfortable once you go inside. Â You can easily make friends with everyone......... Not to mention you might have the opportunity to meet one of their famous Rhode Island drag queen guest bartenders........ That in itself is worth the price of a drink (which, by the way, are very, very reasonable)!!!
They make everyone feel welcome and it is a pleasure to sit in such a nice, CLEAN bar, also they have added a very nice outdoor patio, which makes having a few drinks outside on a beautiful New England afternoon/evening even more fun. Â
The owners are so very nice and the bar staff could not be more friendly. Â Â I would HIGHLY recommend the Stable! Â (oh, and ask for the free snack mix........ in my opinon... it is THE BEST)!
We were on our way to a show at Lupos and realized that we were a tad early, so we saw and open door, two seats at the bar and popped in. After getting settled, my other half takes a look around and says "I really like this bar." Great location, plenty of parking, good music... can't go wrong. We'll certainly be going back.
Review Source:I'm a huge fan of gay bars and this location is pretty rad. Â
Bartenders are always courteous and prompt, even if I am a woman ;) Â The drinks are super cheap. Â The music is always loud and will get you moving at one point or another while you're in there.
The inside bar itself is a bit narrow; there are stools at the bar and few tables around, but this place can get very crowded on a Friday/Saturday night and you'll find it's hard to move around. Â
During the nice months, there is a cute little patio out back which is probably my most favorite area of The Stable. Â Great place to come on a Sunday afternoon for Sangria Sundays with a few friends, sit on the patio to breathe in the fresh air and catch some rays.
I started coming here with a few classmates  before and after my Thursday theater class across the street. Always a good time! The bartenders are really friendly. The best part are the terrific, cheap drinks. I always get Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic- Josh always makes it nice and strong and it's only $6! The only con is the street parking. Sometimes I have to drive around a few times before I find a spot.
Review Source:I came here as part of a NYE bar crawl. It was packed with attractive polite and friendly staff and patrons. No cover chage was definitely a plus. The drinks were fairly priced and generous in portions. Â It's a bit narrow which results in a tight walk to the small dance floor or the bathrooms but worth the trip just to see the sights. Of all the bars we stopped in that night it was by far my favorite. Looking forward to a return visit.
Review Source:It's a nice place to meet up with your friends before going out dancing or whatever. I'd be cautious because either on the off-nights or early in the day, the bartenders are lacking the ability to card when appropriate, leaving underage drinking very easily accessible.
The music is ok. The bartenders could be a bit nicer and less prissy and prude. I've had better luck at Dark Lady and Alley Cat.
I lived in RI back in the late 80s and early 90s when Providence was far from a nice place, especially after dark. My goodness, what a delight to see such a beautiful gay bar with smiling bartenders. I wasn't drinking alcohol and was prepared to pay a fortune for a bottle of water. What a surprise when the smiling, handsome bartender handed me a very large bottle of water and told me it was $2.00! I would ABSOLUTELY go back next time I'm visiting RI. Kudos to the owners for providing an exquisitely-restored  (the tin ceilings and the faux painting in the restrooms are lovely!) meeting place for gays and straights to enjoy an evening.
Review Source:I'm one of those gays who stay away from 'the scene' as much as possible. Not because I'm against it or anything. I just don't like annoyingly loud clubs packed with 2000 Lady GaGa worshipping twinks. And, most of them have a cover charge which is super tacky. I just don't like clubs; gay or straight.
But, occasionally I will give bars a try. So, on NYE, me and my friend were walking from AS220 (amazing place btw. Really bohemian) to the newly opened laid-back hip bar The Salon behind the City Hall. And, we saw people at The Stable having a blast! And, we wanted to give it a try. I heard only great things about it.
I have to say, this really is a great place. Mostly a 30+ crowd who obviously came here to have a drink or two and cheer up for NYE with classy (and friendly, not annoyingly loud) drag queens. Bar tenders were SUPER QUICK serving drinks to a quite packed crowd. I was impressed.
So, we stayed there for like 30 mins, then wanted to hit other places too. But, after checking out 2-3 bars in the area, no place had the vibe we wanted. So, we went back to The Stable! And, the friendly chubby guy at the entrance said "Honey, y'all are back ? Come on in!" :)
If I have to go to a gay bar in the area again, I think I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Stable is hands down my favorite bar in Providence. They play music videos all night, sometimes it can get alittle old school... but I can deal. This place is small, like most bars in Providence... but it's perfect for meeting new people and chatting with friends. Cheap drinks and great bartenders! Their sangria is awesome too... especially on sangria Sundays! It feels like its never ending! Def give this place a try!
Review Source:Last Thursday for my first night on vacation in New England, my friend Jay took us to a new bar in providence that he likes, called Stable. It really is just a small bar, with the main thing being a large bar down the side. There were tvs with sports games playing, and at the back, a large screen making it a video bar. The music was horrible 70s disco. Â There didn't seem to be room for dancing, so this would be just a chill bar. There's hardly anywhere to stand behind the bar and bar stools themselves, if you stand behind them, you'll be pushed out of the way. Minus the bad music (which was too loud for conversation), this would be a good place for people who like a bar bar (as opposed to a dancey bar). I'm not a bar person but I can see how others would like it, if they lower the music and put something good on, so I'll give it a 3 stars. It was not crowded by the way, but I think it's because it was the start of Pride weekend in Boston.
