It's a very good place to order sashimi. Â The cut of the fish is thicker than other places I've been to. Â Price also seems fair when I think about the quality of the fish used. Â The mom and pop owners are very nice and really did make my stay enjoyable even though it was super busy the day I came in.
Review Source:How in the heck could I give this place anything less than five stars?! You want quality sushi in SW Vermont? Well, this is the place that you'll want to go to then.
I've pretty much stopped eating sushi in NYC mainly because it's just too darned expensive and it's just not really all that good these days compared to this place. Eating sushi at Manchester's Sushi Boat is a real treat though and I do so every chance I get!
It is a very intimate place, tucked away off of the main drag in Manchester and it offers up a lot of charm. Ralph, the chef/owner is a great guy and his wife who fills in as a server could not be nicer.
As for the food, you would not believe you're in landlocked VT. Everything Ralph serves is incredibly fresh and tasty, from the lemony mackerel to the buttery yellow tail to the ocean fresh tasting tuna and salmon. Ralph used to run Mika's, up the hill to Bromley  and that was a great sushi restaurant. Now that he's running his own place though, you can rest assured that everything here's being done right and the sushi's even better than Mika's could have ever dreampt of being. Just look at the pix I've posted!
Also, Sushi Boat's BYOB so that's great in keeping your prices down. Bring your own beer, wine or sake and order an extra roll, instead! Speaking of rolls, I had the special Spicy Shrimp Dragon Roll last time I was here and it just about blew my mind! The taste of that thing lingered in my mind for the next few days, at least! Take THAT, NYC sushi joints! Seriously, if you don't eat here while in Manchester, you'll be truly cheating yourself.
Okay, so I know this makes NO sense... Â but it's true, this is some of the best sushi we've ever had. Â And we've eaten sushi in many many many places over the course of 15+ years now. Â I must admit to having been a bit nervous as to how Vermont sushi would be, and I'm glad to have been pleasantly (VERY pleasantly) surprised. Â We have eaten there several times and been happy with absolutely everything, including the service.
One small complaint--the price. Â Probably 1/2 to 1/3 more than we'd spend elsewhere, and no lunch specials or multi-roll plates or anything like that. Â Food in Manchester in general is pretty overpriced, though, so I guess we're sorta used to it by now. Â At least this place is really really GOOD for the money.
