Very good food. You may have to wait a while for someone to take your order in the drive through.

I love TBK. I've usually been drinking for several hours before I eat here, but I tried it sober last week and its still awesome. Huge burritos and great quesadillas. They have a bar too, but I always seem to forget that until its closed. People expecting gourmet food are going to be disappointed, but I never am, I love it.

The TBK by my office is fine, but this one's worthless. Haven't been since one time when it had just opened, and I honestly forgot why. Just reminded today when I went to the drive-through. Waited a minute for anyone to respond at the order station. Placed my order. Got to the window and waited a few minutes for someone to show up and ask me what I'd ordered. Then I waited about 7 more minutes. I wish I could comment on the food quality, but I have no idea. Gave up and left.

Can't beat the price or the speed when you're in the burbs and have a burrito craving.  Super legit green sauce too.  Next time you find yourself heading to Chipotle, save yourself $2 and get a better burrito by coming here.  You'll thank yourself.

I've been to TBKs in the city that are much better than this location.  Let me start with the good stuff about this place.  There's plenty of parking, they have a drive through, they're open 24 hours, and there's a good amount of seating inside the restaurant (something that's lacking at some of the other Taco Burrito King locations).  That's...about....it.

Food here is not great, so not great that I question why I continue to go back.  I keep thinking it'll be better the next time I guess, and they keep proving me wrong.  This last time I got their enchilada plate (comes with 2 enchiladas, salad, and rice & beans).  I ordered the al pastor and I'm pretty sure they didn't prepare it properly as I'm fairly sure al pastor is not supposed to have gristle in it.  In the past I've eaten their fish tacos as well as their chicken burrito and both seemed a little bland with no so much filling.

At this point I think the only reason I'd come back would be if it was super late, nothing else was open, I was in the area and starving.  It's not a combination of events that happens often so I don't see myself coming back any time soon.

wow. I never thought I would give a place 1 star but this place had possibly the worst burrito I've ever had. There was barely any meat and what meat I did have, had no flavor to it. I used to frequent TBK in Chicago when I was in college and enjoyed it a lot.  I was sad I couldn't relive the nostalgia in Niles/Skokie. I stole some of my friend's al pastor enchilada  and it tasted similar to bad microwave food.

    They have a big t.v u can watch from.. I guess that's a plus?

Husband loves it. It's okay. Portions are huge so you can usually get 2 meals out of the burritos which is nice.  Drive thru is suuuuuuuuper slow.

I have a vague memory of eating here at 2 am after a night out, but obviously it wasn't very memorable.

Food is meehh, even at 2 am I'd still like something decent. I'll take Mickey D's for my late night snack to prevent a hangover any day.

    Yes, I'm that classy.

I have been eating at Taco Burrito King since they opened the little hole in the wall site on Harlem near Higgins. (they got bigger since then).  When they opened on Touhy it was great.  The last few times I have gone there, not so good.  Don't know if they changed vendors for the ingredients but it taste good no more.  The rice steak and refried beans taste like low quality taco bell.  Perhaps their growth required more cash and they had to cut back on quality.

Before you go there, take a look at the great looking food on their web site thats how it used to be.  Now look at what you get served.

The boyfriend, a taco king, swears by this place which is most likely due to the late-night memory association. Regardless, I've joined him on two different occasions (one early evening and one late night). I wouldn't say it's the best mexican food I've ever had, BUT it's not bad. It's actually pretty good.

There are places I'd pick over TBK, there are some places I'd pass up for TBK. I've had their enchiladas, and yum, I was pleased. The rice and beans are delicious too! On my other visit, I ordered chicken tacos with cilantro and onion. My only complaint, the onion clung to my breathe until the following day, after I brushed my teeth about five times. I'm pretty sure fresh onion isn't that stanky...

I've been coming here from time to time ever since they opened. Seems like the service is an issue over the entire time. I assumed they were just getting started back in 2008. But now it seems it's a trend that continues.

The last visit was probably the worst. The order came in sporadic parts: the fajitas, the burrito... nothing, then the quesadillas and fries... nothing again.... then a side of rice when I asked for a side of beans. In all that they forgot to give me the drinks too.

The burrito seemed underfilled and even the usual whopping fajitas were smaller than in the past. TBK has gotten expensive too for a fast-food Mexican place.

Now there's so many choices out there besides TBK in my area that I'd pick ahead of this place now. I miss not living near the original flagship store by Harlem & Belmont where their service was consistently good. This place just doesn't live up to the TBK reputation.

I love the food from here! The burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas: everything is good! I love their horchatas (I think they are authentic, and not made from a mix). The food is always ready pretty quick, and at this location they have TVs so you can watch something while you're eating. If you want real good Mexican food, this is a place to go!

When it's late in the evening and I just don't feel like cooking, I think of this particular TBK.  I live closer to one of the TBK's on Harlem but I never go to that one.  I almost always end up at this one.  Maybe I've got repetition compulsion, who knows.

The food is good, but it's not like I'm eating down in little village good.  Still, two steak tacos, an horchata, and I'm set.  I read a review that said this was a smidge better than Taco Bell.  Are you kidding me?  The tacos here look and taste like real tacos, not anemic pale shadows of one.  Read a different review that complained there was no horchata.  Hmmm, I always get an horchata whenever I go here.

It's not the finest of taco places.  However, it will forever be on my short list of places I eat at when I'm tired and just want something to get in my belly.  It's open 24x7.  It's clean.  It's inexpensive.  It's got a bar.  It's got parking.  It's good to go.

For the cyclists, this location is a quarter of a block off of the North Branch Trail.  Making your way back from Fort Sheridan and Honey Stingers just not satisfying your gut?  A steak taco will surely satisfy...  Of course, the numero uno pit stop is just a few short miles away, Superdawg off on Devon.  Who knew riding a bike trail could make you so dang fat?

I ordered the biggest burrito they had. It was called the Super King, and it's wrapped in a 13  1/2" inch flour tortilla with some of the best asada I've had. I got it with beans, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and onion. The tortilla was grilled nicely, maybe a little too much as it lost some of its flexibility. That was ok though, as it was sacrificed for a great slightly charred flavor. This massive slab was only $6.95!! I squeezed a little salsa verde onto every bite.

I wish I had taken a picture, because it really seemed like it was still 13" after having been folded. It was at least 5" across. I ate about 4/5 of this monster before having to give up before my stomach exploded.

I will try again though. Soon. It was that good.

After passing by this location many times, I decided to stop in for lunch. The building's exterior is attractive and well kept. It includes a drive-thru and off-street parking. The interior is less attractive, less clean and fairly small.

On a Saturday afternoon, there was a regular flow of customers. I ordered the daily special--a combination plate. The menu said it was $5.99, but I was charged $4.99. Soft drinks are provided in plastic bottles and you may request a glass with ice, but not standard by default.

My combination plate included rice, re-fried beans, taco (w/choice of meat), tamale and quesadilla. You won't leave hungry. In my opinion the food was average.

It seemed odd that a fast food restaurant had a full bar. It's in a separate room and had no customers when I was there.

All of the staff and most of the patrons were of Mexican decent. Probably a good sign for authenticity. One of its staff was a crooner and serenaded us the entire visit.

There was nothing outstanding on my visit. Including the dirty bathroom and cold hand blower. I probably won't be back, but maybe you'll like it.

My cousins have been dogging me out because I live on a street where there are 3 TBK's and have never gone to any.  So which one do I go to? I go to the one NOT on my street, hence the drive thru 24 hour location off of Touhy.

On this particular end of summer holiday, me and my cousin wanted a quick bite.  So 24 hours applied also to Labor day, and they still honored their Monday $4.99 taco special.  Their horchata was pretty rich too

I dunno about the other loations, but this one has daily specials. Guess I'll have to go to the other 3 locations to find out

It would be nice if Yelp had it so we can rate the food and the service separately this place would get 5 stars for food and 1 star for service!

First they have the slowest drive- thru in North America, if you want fast food go to a fast food restaurant not TBK. 2nd No matter how many times you tell them " NO SOUR CREAM" these morons put sour cream on your food, WHY, most real Mexican places DO NOT put sour cream on everything!
3rd they are not friendly, they have this were busy 24/7  so we don't really care what you think attitude

Lastly when they do get it right they get it right,  Their Steak Sopes are awesome

Ok so I been only thru the drive thru 2x.....both sucked....and .....well read on.

The place itself is a hop skip and jump away, but I had always heard negatives about it, yet always see other ones packed.  So I went thru the drive thru (the other places I know dont have this) and ordered.

Now I am kinda big on customer service, I dont expect the guy to bring it to me and to be super duper motivated, but nice would have been  more than enough.  This is 2x I have been here; the first time I drove up and ordered...and the guy working the window (both times the same guy)  was rude as hell making the faces like I was inconveniencing him..  and I seriously don't try to let it bug me, maybe he had a bad day.  I went back again and this time he thought I ordered something else with what I got and gave me this look like it was my fault.  Then tried to tell me I don't normally get sauce with an order (which I later found out I did).

So will I go back?  Yeah as I am on lent and gave up all meat  and products related to it.  Will I go thru the drive thru?  Probably not.  But if the service inside is better than the idiot at the window?  I will upgrade to 3 stars.  Sorry guys.

Oh this locale is 24 hours.

What can I say? I love TBK and that's it. This one has a drive thru also. Now that I live in Denver, I miss the late (after club drunken) nights even more. If only they would open on or a few in CO... hmmm do they franchise?

Ohh yeah... I was suppose to review the food and place. Love the burritos and drive thru...never been inside.

Late night snack? Craving some mexican any time of day? 24/7 all day everyday!

If you ever have a late night craving of mexican food this is the place to be. Monday-Sunday they have deals going.

The horchata alone keeps me coming back.

My favorite dish would have to be the torta plate.  if you go on a friday its only 4.99! comes with a large torta with your choice of meat or chicken.  Comes with rice and a side of beans.

Another great thing that is not on the menu is a california favorite, carne asada fries! Just order cheese fries with shredded cheese, guac, and sour creme. only for about 5 dollars! well worth it. just make sure they use the shredded white cheese.

    paper and plastic accepted.
they also have a drive thru which is a + if you need the late night action and eating on the road (which i dont recommend)

    Nom Nom!

I had a craving for super nachos today and what other place can you get them?  TBK baby!

The nachos were fatty, cheesy, and meaty!  As nachos should be!

The only qualm I have about this place is that the cashier wasn't paying attention to my change and short changed me.... I would double check their calculations.

Ok So if my bestie didnt go to the King a couple hours after me and had such a horrible experience I think I woulda gave the king a 4 star.I know I know it wasnt my experience but still I feel like it should count since what she ate was just the old version of what I ate.

So BF and I stopped by to grab a bite to eat before meeting up with some yelpers. I liked how clean the inside was and the fact that they are open 24 hours a day with a full bar! The employees were very unpleasant especially man that took our order. He wouldnt even look us in the eye and acted like we were wasting his time. But.... the food was really good I ordered the veggie tacos, bf got the steak tacos and we shared the veggie nachos. I really liked that the veggie taco actually had grilled fajita style veggies on them.Yuymmy! The nachos had the same veggie on them but a touch to much sour cream,I need more chippies pweaz.

I probably wont be back unless its late night, I'm cruising the area for some odd reason,a nd my stomach is eating itself. So if all those stars aline I would eat at the king again.

During my exile to the Northwest side, I was turned on to this place courtesy of a 24 hour operating schedule and a drive up window.  Hello, semi healthy, late night, never get out of your car dining?  Yes, por favor!

Steak tacos are my favorite things from south of the border and the steak here is a really decent cut, tender, flavorful and not an ounce of fat on those bad boys.  My usual special order would put the scene from When Harry Met Sally to shame but they always accommodate and turn out a pretty awesome product.

The real test of their mettle came today when I returned from a medical appointment and was prescribed some potent pills that require a full stomach before ingesting, enter TBK!  Three giant steak tacos with tons of cheese and lettuce for a meager 6 bucks.  Hello!   The the tacos were fantastic an laid a perfect pre-med foundation!

I've had the quesadillas, Yum and delicious guac and chips.   My friend raves about the fish tacos and the flautas too.  I had a flauta but in all fairness, that night was a little foggy if you know what I mean!  I found the drive up service to be super fast, friendly and really accommodating.  Maybe I go at weird times when they have nothing to do but be nice to picky, picky me, but I will take that as an honor.

TBK, I am so crushing on you!

So I hear people rave about TBK on this side of town. Well... sorry, Charlito but I'm not from around here and this gal just ain't buying it.

That it's open 24 hours, has a drive through, decent sized sit down area, and a parking lot probably help Taco Burrito king with its cult like following, but on my visit last night, the BF and I were less than impressed. I got some veggie tacos, the BF got some pork tacos, and we shared some veggie nachos. I'll give it up on the veggie nacho portion size and topping ratio as there wasn't a dry chip on the platter and the size was large enough to feed a pack of ravenous dogs, but ravenous is what I'd have to be to order it again.

If you go, don't expect fresh or quality ingredients and be prepared to scoff at any Mexican authenticity you may have been anticipating. My veggie tacos didn't have many of the fillings that were listed on the menu but I didn't bother going back up as the guy behind the counter was clearly over working his shift for the night. I'd call my veggie tacos more of an onion salad, nay, salad sounds too fresh. How's bout a place where onions go to die? Yup, that's more like it. They were not very delicious and I deeply regret the calorie intake for such a disappointing dish.  My BF agreed that his tacos were less than stellar and almost immediately afterward he wasn't feeling too good.

The nachos look great but don't taste it. I don't how there can be that much stuff on them and they still don't have any distinguishable flavor... it was like you threw nachos and toppings in a blender and in the end it just tasted the one mish mosh blah flavor.

I've heard the burrito is the way to go hear but unfortunately, I didn't hear that until after I'd already gotten my two not-so-hot items. I don't think I'll be racing to come back anytime soon.

This is just one of those places that I keep going back to, even after having so many "ehhh" experiences. Sometimes it's because it's one of the only places in the area that is open 24/7 and I'm with a group of friends... and most times it's because my husband and brother can't get enough of this stuff, so I'd say, "just bring me back quacamole," since they were there anyway. Either way, I'd never come here on my own. I'll give them credit though, I remember placing an order for a group of people on Christmas late at night and it made everyone generally happy.

I like that this is a much cleaner and larger TBK than the others I've been to, but as far as food goes, I'd say that it's not all that great here. I prefer the location on Harlem by the Blue Line rather than this location. Must be the years of grease built up.

    The Good:
    - Open 24 hours.
    - Giant veggie nachos.
    - Parking lot.

    The Bad:
    - TBK = pretty much "faux" Mexican. Where is my horchata?! I should have know better though.
    - The food is just not very good. Acceptable if you're in Niles in the middle of the night and starving however. I guess suburbanites have severely limited late night options.

Seriously, so many better places on Clark. El Famous Burrito has a delicious churro, great tacos, and the friendliest staff in the world... and horchata! El Quijote (now Lindo Guadelajara) remains my favorite with everything you could ever want from a late night Mexican joint.

Ok, so here's the deal.  If you want something "authentic" don't you think a name like Taco Burrito King would tip you off that this is most likely not what you'll be getting?  There's a reason why Rick Bayless doesn't call his restaurant The Mole Castle (that's pronounce moh-lay, BTW).

That being said, TBK serves up a monster burrito at a good price.  I've only been through the drive-through so I can't vouch for anything inside the restaurant; however, at (eh-hum) 2AM their drive through is hopping and serves up burritos the size of your thigh quicker than you can take a sobriety test.

    Don't drink and drive.  Ever.

My friend and I drove though this place this past Friday evening after a night of darting at the Windy City Open.  He'd never had them before and ordered some tacos; I got the super grande burrito with pork.  I almost dropped the bag because I seriously was not expecting the weight contained within.

Upon returning safely to our abode we opened the bag and it gave birth to a tremendous burrito and three tacos.  My friend was immediately jealous of my new child.  We were gonna name it but then I probably would have felt bad about eating it.

And I ate the entire thing.  Seriously, all of it.  Gone.  Nothing left except the hugely satisfying blob slowly moving through my digestive tract.

In the famous words of the Governator, "I'll be back!"

    TBK is A-OK!!

    One word for you... DRIVE-THRU!!!

    Or is that two...

F-it.  Either way, drive thrus rock.  I can really appreciate getting delicious food handed to me through my open car window.

And, ahhhh... such food.  I had a steak burrio and it really didn't disappoint.  I added the gualcamole... good call on my part.

I mean, what can you really say?  It's a taco place.  It's a good taco place though.

This TBK in my opinion is the best in the area.  You don't have to fight the crowds and parking is plentiful oh yeah and they have a drive thru.

This is served best for an after midnight late night possibly drunk meal that you will regret for sure.  However you will be very pleased at least while your eating.

Everything on the menu seems pretty good I just go for 2 soft tacos.  They have a bar serving beer and mixed drinks.  Business as usual seems like a safe place to come late night for a taco feast.

This place is horrible. I love me some tacos but this place is like the Mexican version of "chop suey" chinese restaurant. there is nothing authentic about this place. The tacos are weak and the tortilla is something similar to one step above taco bell. The meat is lacking in quantity and flavor and when ordering a taco from an authentic establishment I only want 3 things. green sauce, onions and cilantro. Never would I dare put a large dollup of sour cream on it!
Even drunk, this place was inedible. Ok fine so I ate it, but was upset about it during and after.

Got burritos here on my way home from the airport.  The burrito was HUGE and very filling - only ate half.  The guacamole was some of the best I have ever had.

We stopped in mid-afternoon, service was quick and everything was quite fresh.

Will def. make follow-up trips here on the way home from the airport again...but not good enough to drive out of my way from Evanston to eat at.

I love and hate this place at the same time.

The nachos are disgustingly delicious, but had a horrible effect in/on my stomach. This place is open 24/7 and is conveniently located in the middle of Niles. The portions are large, the prices are low, and the service is quick.

Next time I crave extremely messy, fattening, and delicious (not so very) authentic Mexican food. This is the place for me!

Go here instead of Taco Bell. You'll spend about the same amount of money but you'll get way better food. And alcohol. That's why TBK (or Taco Burrito King as the uninformed call it) gets five stars from me.

Seriously the combo plate is really really awesome. And really really cheap. And the margaritas are generous and half price on certain weekdays. There's a drive through too in case you are too lazy to go inside.

But in this age of get-it-now digital downloads and instantaneous bank transactions, you should really slow down a little bit. Enjoy the good things in life like eating inside of TBK. Chips are good.

I love their Steak a la Mexicana. Just a bunch of skirt steak mixed with pico de gallo with sides of rice and beans. Yum!

They don't seem to be concerned with the portion size. They just fill your plate until there is literally no more room for food. It looks like a mountain of steak.

** If you think that a burrito is supposed to have rice in them, TBK is not the place for you. **

There should be a prize if you can finish a king sized burrito in one sitting. This place has a drive-thru window (!) the first TBK that I am aware of. I like this one better than the one on Harlem and the Kennedy, cleaner, less crowded, more tables.

    What I always order:
Jr. steak burrito, extra cheese, guacamole, no beans, hot sauce + extra large horchata

Grab a bottle of hot sauce for the table and a lot of napkins. There is truly an art to eating this burrito.
