+ Sushi? A+++++++ Â Delicious!
+ No muss, no fuss. Â This is a "cafeteria style" restaurant. Â You come in, you order right away, you pay, you sit down and wait for your food. Â Your food is called out, you pick it up from the counter, you eat. Â When you're done, you put all your utensils/bowls on the tray and bring it back to the counter. Â Then, you leave.
+ Chef Tanaka was behind the sushi counter when we came in and gave a warm greeting. Â His sushi creations are delcious! Â
- Cashier could be friendlier
No foo foo, high fallutin' stuff here. Â The place is small. (Probably holds 20 customers max.) Â Just straight up good food. Â No mood lighting, no warm ambiance here. Â (The place was freezing that we were wearing our coats while eating.)
Not suggested for date night/romantic night. Â More for "I'm hungry and I just want to grab a quick bite before going back to the office/ back home/ back to the college campus.
That's all, folks!
While this was NOT the best sushi I have ever had, Tanaka Sushi is still pretty damn good.
I have a love hate relationship with sushi: I love the taste, but I can only have a little because after a while the textures get to me. (I have the same problem with shrimp, lobster, and mushrooms. S'weird, whatever.) So knowing myself, I ordered a spicy California roll, and a spicy shrimp tempura roll to try initially. I figured I could switch textures back and forth and be fine with my food-weirdy-ness.
I can tell you, I woofed those two rolls down in about four minutes flat. Super delish. It was way better than I was expecting and both rolls I ordered were sprinkled with panko crumbs for a little healthy crunch that I really enjoyed. Looking over their menu, they have a lot of interesting rolls to choose from and I can't wait to try some more!
So far I've only ordered take-out, but I like how clean and uncluttered the interior is as well. It's a quick stop shop kind of place for a great work lunch, but maybe not so much for a sit-down-meal.
