Great authentic Chinese food at a value! Â Not the best decor, mind you -- they used to have a fully size restaurant next door, but the increase in rent forced them to downsize. Â They are now more of a take-out place with limited seating, but the food is still amazing! Â If you're not sure what to order, you can't go wrong with the family meals, from which they are more than happy to substitute items.
Review Source:Went here for a Saturday lunch on the recommendation of a Chinese friend, who advised me to order from the Chinese instead of the American menu. I've heard of Tong's before, but always assumed it was a standard chop suey joint. Anyway, I went all the way and ordered the Cantonese style lobster and a stir-fried eggplant dish. Wow - the lobster ($26) was about 1 3/4 lb and as delectable as any I've had in Chinatown. It was cut up before cooking, and stir-fried with ginger and green onions. The eggplant was also great - it had the distinctive "breath of the dragon" taste, which comes from being lapped by the fire coming up from under the wok. The only concession I made was ordering the egg rolls, which my friend told me were made fresh daily. They were also very good. Overall, a real gem in an unexpected place.
