Chevys Fresh Mex Restaurant

UDPATE:  This place is closed now.  Not that it didn't deserve it, but we had just purchased gift certs for my father-in-law (who inexplicably loved the place) very recently!!  Another reason to not like this place!  Called the company and they said he could go to Schaumburg...ugh!!!

A 1.5 rating...It got an extra half star because the only thing that helped me make it through dinner was the very good watermelon margarita and watching the tortilla maker to help us pass the time.  A loud and obnoxious place, with really watery salsa and even less flavor.  

I don't remember the one in Schaumburg being this craptacular.  But I always went to the S-burg one for lunch since I worked out that way.  Three little shrimp on "the platter" with "smoky" (i.e. burnt tasting) beans.  SLOW service...andale, amigo!  Necessito mas agua, por favor!  It got an extra half star because the only thing that helped me make it through dinner was the very good margarita.

We've gotten better food (and service) from street vendors.  I also wouldn't recommend Las Palmas, but that's for another review.  Check out Potter's in Naperville or Front Street Cucina instead.

Not good. Yes, it is a chain so how authentic can you expect it to be but you are better off going to las palmas near by. The salsa is bland & watery and the main courses are unexciting.

Moderately-priced standard Mexican fare you'd find when mostly white people are dining.  It's a good choice for a lunch when you need pretty efficient service but would rather be waited on than to just pick up Panera for the 50th time.  Since I always went on lunch breaks during work I didn't get to try the margaritas.
