Stopped in here for some tacos from a friend's recommendation, and was really pleased! I had two tacos de carne asada and two al pastor, and all four were delicious! The quality of the meat was excellent, which makes sense, seeing as how they are connected to a grocery store. Also loved the spicy guacamole. Definitely fresh. If you want an authentic taco made with quality ingredients, this is your spot.

One of my top Mexican joints in the city, very good and worth the drive out. The smoky smell of wood in the meat of their bbq al pastor is divine. The restaurant is attached to a grocery store so I imagine they have a really good pick of ingredients in their food. I often eat heartily here with another companion where the entire meal for us two is less than a Jefferson. Seriously, try the Al Pastor taco and shrimp empanadas. The seafood platter looks really good, I will try it one of these days.

Went here on a recommendation. We split the half grilled chicken. It was very dry, crazy dry. I would have given 2 stars but it seems that their specialties are more in the seafood arena. The chicken came with grilled onions and rice/beans as well as waffle fries? It was a nice amount of food for the 2 of us for only $10. I left chicken on the platter, which I never do, because it was so dry. It had to be just bad luck, but I won't go back because there are way too many other places to try.

Food is okay.  Las Isla Marias has better seafood but the other entrees are okay.

This place has the tacos you pick when someone asks you if you could only eat one food the rest of your like what would it be? And you can pick up toilet paper in the attached store on your way out!

Three of us passed Ricardos on the way back from checking out cheap furniture at Big Lots. Given the prevalence of Spanish signs in the area, we suspected tasty Mexican food might be at hand.

We've had positive experiences at other restaurants-connected-to-markets so decided to give it a shot.

Ricardos did not disappoint. The grilled chicken is quite good, however the standout are the al pastor tacos. This is the best al pastor I've ever had: the pork is well seasoned, finely chopped, grilled to perfection and served with a grilled scallion. We also tried the carne asade tacos, they were good, but not outstanding, I think Allende is better.

The decor is pretty basic, although they spice it up with some random tree-trunk chairs. It's connected to a Mexican market which has parking. The menu is quite expansive and we plan to explore more of it. I only wish it was located closer!

Omg! The chicken here is awesome, grilled over wood. The waitresses are so nice and the smell of burnt wood reminds you of Mexico. DEFINATELY will go back!

I love Ricardo's.  I live right down the street.  It reminds me of what Chicago east of Kedzie used to be like before Potbelly's and Cold Stone Creamery. There's a store attached to the restaurant.  I walk over to "Ricky's" all the time. They've got amazing fresh salsa and churros.

I was skeptical when the restaurant first opened because it looked like it was violating every fire law possible but wow! I love the roasted chicken, tacos, carne asada, and chicken soup. Oh and the horchata. This place is a gem.  The owner is always very nice.  So is the staff even when there english is a little limited. Don't let the exterior intimidate  you!

The first time I came here it was by accident. My friend and I  couldn't find the taco place we had agreed upon so we ended up coming here.

Wow, I'm glad we got lost. The tacos and tortas are great. They grill the meat over a wood fire which gives it a  great distinct flavor.  The ingredients are definitely fresh since the restaurant is attached to the supermarket next door.

The prices are great too.  One of my coworkers and I went there for lunch today and the total for both of us was $10.05.  I had ordered two tacos and an horchata. She ordered a torta and an horchata.  We walked out of there ready for a nap. Good food, good portions, small price; that's my kind of restaurant.

There's metered parking along Diversey and the supermarket has a parking lot. In the summer they sometimes have a guy out in the parking lot roasting corn on a huge grill made out of a steel drum.  The smell is amazing.

Look past the crappy exterior and just GO!
