Taste Of Shoyu

Just like the others have said, poor service and forced tip.... Sorta. You can deselect the tip and it will not add any. Tried the place twice, wanted to ask for no sweet sauce on the MSP Roll and couldn't....then had to ask for water by placing a request on the machine. So, 60$ meal gets you a call F service... I'd think the 18% tip we left could get me water....

I can't believe the negative reviews!  This place is awesome!  When I'm bummed out because I have to travel to Minneapolis in winter, this place is the saving grace!  You can have a really good Asian inspired healthy lunch or dinner before getting on your plane and not feel laden down by heavy greasy typical airport garbage.  Plus the iPads and iPad ordering is great.  I had no difficulty using the iPads and found the service and servers to be quick and very polite.  Had Goya, sushi and salad.  Will have udon next.

It's a cool little place @ MSP near the intersection of courses G & F. There is an iPad at every table that you use to order your food and to browse online, play hangman, checkers, whatever while you wait for your food.

Pros: Great ambiance. Very chic and fun.

Cons: Food, Service, Price.

Food- I ordered a beef udon and MSP roll. Beef udon was brought to me within minutes of ordering. The broth was flavorful and the beef was very lean and tasteful.  MSP roll- didn't fit the description on the menu too well.  There are 6 pieces- a little too sweet for my liking. There's supposed to be "crunch", which you'd expect it to be panko crunchy crumbs. Well, what I got was what looked like the bottom, leftover crumbs of a generic breadcrumb that came out of a can...

Service- There were no clean tables. I sat down at a table and no one came by to clean (since there's no service until you order via the iPad).  A man dropped off my udon first, didn't stick around long enough for me to tell him that I would like a water, utensils, and a napkin. No one else came for a while, so I just took utensils & napkin from another table.  I was finished with the udon and waited about 10 more minutes when the sushi (MSP roll) finally came out. Before the server put down the food, I asked for a glass of water. The server came back with a pitcher and started filling a dirty glass that had been sitting there from before i sat down. I informed the server that it was a dirty glass that wasn't mine and that i'd like a new glass. Took another 10 minutes. No other server came by to check on the quality of the food or to see if I needed anything else.

Price: Udon=$13. Pretty reasonable.  But MSP roll (6 pieces, not very good)=$17.

Would I dine here again? NO.
