I had a wonderful time at Tate's! Â I was only in Winston-Salem for a few days, and this was the highlight of my trip.
My review is based solely on the cocktails. It is expensive, but you are paying for what you order, which is fancy, creative cocktails. I had two cocktails, The Kitchen Sink, and a strawberry, prossecco, vodka, balsamic one (which I am disappointed because I can't remember the name).
The strawberry drink was divine: muddled strawberries, balsamic syrup, prossecco, vodka, probably some other things, and garnished with a strawberry. I loved watching the bartender make it and using fresh ingredients. It was divine: strong enough that I knew I was drinking alcohol, but the fresh strawberry made it just fruity enough.
The Kitchen Sink was also amazing. More hints of strawberry, but with some gin, and garnished with green pepper, cucumber and strawberry. It made me feel healthy when I drank it!
The patio is small, but nice, and we enjoyed the warm evening. I wish I had tried the food. The music was good, the drinks were good, and I would definitely go back if I am ever back in Winston-Salem.
This place was totally my jam.
Expensive for Winston, but definitely fun and lively. The bar maintains an intimate atmosphere, with young bartenders in ties. My favorite drink here is the blackberry julep. It's piled high with blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries. Yes, it's very girly and oh so delicious! A must try.
