This place has gone downhill quickly. I used to come here a lot when they had a different karaoke host with some friends.I stopped in here recently and left almost as quickly as I got there. It's a shame this place is right around the corner from me. It would be a great spot if it hasn't fallen apart since the new owners took over a couple years ago.
Review Source:Oh the Lameness!
This place is super divey, and not in a cool, kitschy way.
You can't tell by the reviews, Â but they turn over karaoke hosts pretty regularly. And for a bar that features singing several nights a week, it sucks that they have really lame mics and a pathetic sound system. No one sounds good. I was in a karaoke contest here many a moon ago and it was a disaster. The judges were all doing shots and just picked the last 3 people they saw (likely it was all they could remember). I left at that point, but was told a fight broke out after we left!
The bar staff is iffy with drink knowledge in our experience, and it's laughable that sometimes they run out of something and simply don't buy a new one. At a bar??
I would *completely* steer clear. If you sing there are much better options out there.
We have been to Thursday night Karaoke twice now and have had a blast both times. Great KJ, almost anything you can think of to sing, supportive crowd, and great drink prices. It definitely has the feel of a local bar, complete with the occasional drunk karaoke singer, but it lent more flavor than distaste. And the crowd is small enough you get to sing often. We will definitely be back!
Review Source:I love that the crowd is small but supportive for karaoke. Â I wish I had been able to sing more songs but there was a little hub bub during a disagreement between a very intoxicated fella and another guy...
it definitely had that neighborhood dive kind of feel with the token funky old men (who left by 9pm when karaoke started)
but chances are you'll get to sing whatever song you desire because the KJ types it in online and pulls up the version you're looking for.
I'll be planning to go back, though steering clear of too-intoxicated men who might start fights...
I returned about a month ago for another karaoke attempt and it was a whole new ballgame. The crowd was extremely supportive of all the singers, the KJ was incredibly nice and had pretty much every song you could imagine (several of which weren't listed in the books). In fact, there's really no need to look at the books unless you're trying to find inspiration. They don't take slips of paper - you just go up and put your name in, and when your time comes, you hop up, tell him what song you want, and off you go. I definitely plan on returning.
Helpful hint: Ben Folds' song, Army? Not a good karaoke choice. Ayii.
I first got back to Denver, gosh, about 16 months ago now. When I got back I was informed by a lot of my old high school classmates that they liked to hang out in this place, so I figured on giving it a try.
Each time I've gone in I've had fun. I love karaoke, and this particular karaoke place always has a great rotation full of people. Some of them can sing and you get impressed. Some of them absolutely can't sing, and I wish I was still a smoker so I could grab a cigarette and hide from how hilariously bad it is...
That's karaoke for ya. It's always an adventure.
The crowd always seems to be good, and every time I've been in I've had fun. The bartenders tend to be okay...sometimes my drink is too strong, but that's just me being picky. Off the main room there is a secondary room with pool tables in it. I think seventy-five cents is a fair price for a game of pool, so that makes me happy too...
My one complaint...and only complaint...is that as a dive bar they don't really carry all the things I'd like to be drinking. I guess we can't keep me happy about everything though, can we?
