We stopped by here while waiting for family to come in at the airport. It was a little intimidating when first walking up, but we quickly became comfortable. Service was friendly and food was good.

Not just a place to drink late in Gundo!

Needed to get some work done and use the Internet. Ditched the coffee shop idea for beer. Better than hanging at a coffee shop on a weekend. Free WiFi :)

Love this place for a quick lunch.the Lion burger, mac n' sheese, caprese salad, tavern dog sliders, clam chowder. alllll great! Specials are really good and well thought out. Speciality drinks are also a nice touch without a crazy upcharge.

Ahh the Tavern....

Full bar, SUCH good food (it's bar food and it's awesome...you should expect a little grease), friendly-but-not-over-friendly staff, TVs everywhere, and a trivia game that can get really fun as the drinks keep flowing. It's a local dive scene for the most part, with younger groups on Thursday to Sunday nights and other weekday late nights. Happy Hour M-F 11ish until 6:30pm, and a great bruch on Saturday and Sunday. Such a great place for a party - kids or adults. Large back room!

One of my top five favorite burgers on the planet is the Tavern's Lion Burger. Blue cheese, bacon...I don't think I need to say much else. They have a ton of other great specialty burgers at prices that would be upwards of $20 a plate at other "trendy" places in SM or MB. Get the beer battered fries. Don't skip the mac and cheese. I'm a calorie counter, can you tell?

Go to the "Tav"; bring your friends, come hungry, leave very...very happy.

Solid place.
Good beer, good cheesesteak, pissy waitress (just that night I wonder?)... and smoking patio in the front. Plenty of sports to watch and easy mingling with strangers.
I got here on a Friday night around 9:30 or 10 and it wasn't too crowded yet. It got busier later, and drunker!

Came here after most bars had closed. I was happy that they served food late but the server Corinne seemed less than thrilled.
The Mac and Cheese was really oily and greasy... Gross. The turkey BLTA was decent but was out shadowed by the lack of service. Maybe it was because its a UCLA bar and they're used to subpar food/service... Either way, I won't be back.

So I've come here a few times, but last night was the last straw. There were probably a 100 of us celebrating and it was hard to move around. No worries though because we all know each other and are thrilled to hang out and catch up! I was starving so I ordered the boyfriend and I two burgers. One (with a fried egg, bacon...) comes out rather quickly despite the crowd. The second never arrived. I asked the bartender if it was coming out and she said it would soon. It never did; however, we were charged for it on our tab. When I pointed out that we never got the burger I was told that we had received it. What?! I think I would remember if I received my food order because I was excited to eat it. Anyways, we ended up paying for the invisible burger and the bartender was extremely rude to insist we had to pay for a service we never received.

So beyond the bartenders rudeness, the bouncers are out of control uptight. I heard them insulting the bf's company several times as if we were not cool enough for their bar. And as if we were inconveniencing them by our mere presence. Well, this attitude is becoming more and more apparent to everyone. After every company success, it seems that more and more of our money is going elsewhere because we don't need to be insulted for giving you all a ton of business.

Anyways, in conclusion... I'm just not a fan of this little joint. Every time I come in it is to celebrate a success for my boyfriend's job. There are always tons of us packed in because the Tavern is the closest bar. Well, it might be the closest, but it's not very accommodating. Are there a lot of us? Sure! Can the crowd be overwhelming? Definitely! But instead of rolling your eyes about the number of people shouldn't you be celebrating the fact that the place is filled to brim and you are going to walk out with an arm full of tips? Apparently not.

We spent 6 hours here watching the NFC and AFC Championship games while waiting for our son's flight to the Dominican Republic. Great food. We ate breakfast and lunch here. Good menu choices and quality food you might not expect at a tavern. They have Guinness on tap!! The place was full of Niner fans and we had a great time. The other patrons were not the hard drinking type which is nice when your with your wife and 19 year old son. The bar tenders and wait staff are attentive and polite. Just a great place to hang out and watch football, even with your family. Thanks Tavern on Main!!

4 stars for being a really cool looking UCLA bar. food options were pretty standard bar faire.

we came by for the UCLA/USC game. plenty of seating available at the beginning of the game. not too sure what the beer specials were. we had a couple rounds and some wings. the vibe was pretty cool as it related to the crowd. our server on the other hand, was probably not having a good day, or something. she didn't really develop a rapport with us nor did she make eye contact when speaking to us. very dry and matter of factly with a very disingenuous smile. but, i'll give her the benefit of having not the best of mornings. only -1 star.

we only stayed for the 1st quarter and met up with some other friends at another location. the Tavern looks very interesting and i'm looking forward to trying them out again, especially since they are the local UCLA spot.

Pretty good burgers. Best described as very solid, nothing exceptional, but tasty all around. Had the Bruin, the Trojan, and I think one other in our group.

Sadly it was lunch so we passed on the beer, but that looked great too. The side room has big TV's and is A/C'ed so it's a good place to watch the game.

Tavern on Main is a good place to catch the football game and get a sandwich after picking up someone from the airport. We came in on a Saturday night around 7:15 or so. More than half of the about 20 tables were occupied, but with 17 televisions, it was easy to find an open table for four with a great view of the game. The bar is loud - the game is on, there is music in the background, and they have HUGE fans going all over the restaurant because there is no air conditioning. The waitresses were VERY attentive, and our drinks arrived promptly. The food had Pros and Cons:

Pros:
-Awesome bread - my pretzel roll (on The Lion) and the sub for DH's philly cheesesteak were amazing. They reportedly come from a bakery in Venice. Must find this bakery - bread was so delicious.
-Huge selection of sandwiches and many side choices to choose from.
-Sandwich toppings are tasty and plentiftul - I had the Lion on a Pretzel Roll with Chicken Breast in lieu of a burger. It was topped with caramelized onions, and lots of them (yay!), blue cheese and two strips of bacon. My table mate had blue cheese dressing, and I put some of that on there with some ketchup. It was really tasty.
-Sides include french fries, pasta salad, coleslaw, green salad, onion rings and sweet potato fries - I love being able to get a green salad (simple chopped romaine with diced tomatoes and sliced red onion) for no extra charge.

Cons:
-Meat on sandwiches is not at all seasoned.
-The quality of the meat is...meh. The beef is not out of this world - even on the cheesesteak - and the chicken definitely had gristle.
-Onion Rings and French Fries are served hot, but I think that they are poured out of a freezer bag into the fryer. They do not taste super fresh.

The prices are...modest. I would not say cheap, but they are not expensive either. However, considering the prices at The Counter or Stacked, I expected better quality on the sandwich here, because they were a bit higher. Our bill for four sandwiches, a beer, a glass of wine and a soda was $64. I would go back, but I would not go out of my way. It's a-okay.

Had good food here and when the bill came I couldn't believe how cheap it was.

We came here as tourists - which is not their prime demographic. Seems like the kind of place regulars go to drink and watch baseball.

I got the hot dog which was really good (although I wish they put the relish on for you instead of giving you a bottle of Heinz), and my girlfriend got the jazzed up grilled cheese. We were both very happy with this place.

Kind of place you can slam in and out if you need to, or lose hours just hanging out and talking to the bartenders or the owner (presumably) who comes around to chat.

Need a huge beer (22oz) and a decent sandwich? Tavern on Main street in El Segundo is a cool little local spot to wash out those cravings.

Food:

I'm a creature of habit so I always get the same sandwich and wash it down with the same beer. The Tavern's Ole' Steak Sandwich gets my nod when I'm hungry. The sandwich is anchored with a round roll and stacked with tri tip steak, chipotle bbq sauce, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, and guacamole.

Beer:

I'm a huge fan of Stone Brewery and The Tavern features three variations of Stone (Arrogant Bastard, Ruination IPA, and Sublimely Self-Righteous Black Ale). I'm a big fan of Arrogant Bastard and the Ruination IPA. These are two great tasting and robust beers for those of you who haven't tried them. These beers have a higher alcohol content than the more common beers out there so be prepared for a lil' kick in the pants

Overall:

The Tavern is a cool little watering hole to come chill at in a sleepy downtown area. The place can get a little crowded around the weekend but nowhere near as packed as bar/restaurants in busier, more popular areas. Come sit down, catch a game on one of their flat screens, order some bar food, and enjoy some good beer.

The waitresses always provide good, upbeat service and are attractive more often than not for those of you who care. Parking is easily found in the area.

Cheers Yelpers & Yelpettes.

Tavern on Main is a good sized bar and restaurant on Main Street in downtown El Segundo. Each time I come here, the service is very friendly (they remember you after just one visit!) and they are very attentive. The prices are reasonable for the portions and what you get.

They have a burger "bar" at lunch where you can select your meat, cheese, and bun and then top it off with hot and cold toppings - including guacamole, chili, jalepenos, etc - at the bar. It's a great deal and it comes with cole slaw or fries.

Coming here after work is also fun. There's never a wait for a table and nothing like having a cold beer in a loud bar with friends. I recommend trying it if you're in the area!

I love this place. I just moved to El Segundo and have been looking for a place that's open later on the week nights. Most places around this town close by 8pm, but there are a few bars that are open later. The Tavern is definitely my favorite of them. You get that relaxed, dive-y bar feel in a bar that's not full of 70 year olds. The crowds here tend to be late 20's or so, the whole bar has a relaxed atmosphere and all of the servers/ bar tenders are super nice. Food is actually pretty good for a bar (the beer battered mozzarella sticks are delicious) and they have a pretty large menu. They have live music pretty often and a great happy hour.

If you're in El Segundo later at night, this is definitely the place to go. Only down side is that they only serve a late night menu on the weekend and there's no pool table. I usually find myself here at least once a week without fail.

My buddy just moved to the El Segundo area so after reading a few reviews on Yelp we decided to give this joint a shot.

It's definitely a "locals" hangout and a bit dive-ish (which I like). A lot of guys 45-50 (likely divorced) were bellied up at the bar, gulping down beers, watching the game and day dreaming about better days.

There was plenty of seating, we sat down and ordered two HUGE and ice-cold beers and asked the bartender what she recommended as far as appetizers. She suggested the Irish Nachos and Mozzarella Sticks.

When the Irish Nachos arrived - it was basically a plate of Ruffles covered in cheese, chives, tomatoes and sour cream. Really? Ruffles? WTF. This was a definite first for me. I've seen potato wedges, potato skins, etc. but never "Ruffles" disguised as Irish Nachos. I felt like I was back in 9th grade, eating some concoction I whipped up to cure the munchies after smoking some jank weed I pinched out of my brothers stash. I was really blown away (but somewhat entertained as well).

The Mozzarella sticks were basically frozen and heated to order. They tasted OK, much better than the soggy Ruffles Nachos and the marina sauce that accompanied them was actually quite good.

The bartender was super friendly and engaging. She checked on us often and even brought over a little tray leftover holiday cookies for us to snack on.

Like I said, everybody seems to know everybody in this place, which makes it feel quite comfortable. For that, I give it a BIG 3 stars.

The guy next to me ordered a Double-Cheeseburger and it looked pretty tasty. Perhaps something off the main menu would have pushed them over-the-edge for a 4 star rating. Who knows. It's close to my buddy's new house so I'm sure we'll be back at some point. If I do return, I'll be sure to update my review accordingly.

The food here is gooddd for a bar!!

I would always come here for happy hour with my job. I honestly cannot tell you anything about their prices because everything was paid for by my job but the food was always good and I never had any complaints.

The bar is a decent size with plenty of indoor seating and limited seating outside. The bartenders here are sooooo nice and accomodating and service is quick.

We would usually stop in on a thursday and there would be a little bit of music playing and I always noticed that there were a few customers besides my group of friends, but not too many.

El segundo is a very small city so there is a very strong police presence. Be careful when leaving this bar, you don't want to get a DUI.

Review Source:

El Segundo probably has way too much of a budget for police than it probably needs. Whenever I come anywhere near this place at night I can't help but notice the number of cop cars outnumber the non-police vehicles. So it's probably best if you made sure you weren't drunk or at a level where the cops could give you some shit for alcohol consumption before hitting the streets back to the 405.

Which sort of means that you can't take advantage of the Tavern on Main's main feature... the alcohol. While it's mostly your average BMC on draft, they do have a slew of craft beers in bottle form from really good breweries.

Though I have to admit that the service was pretty spotty at best, and bad all around. Salads took forever to come out as I'm sure they were growing all the ingredients in the back and the check situation was a complete mess where the server could have better laid it out or tried splitting it throughout the table.

The end result is that this place is great for you locals looking for a watering hole that have carte blanche with the local PD not to get shit for your probable intoxication as you stumble your way the couple of blocks to nurse your alcohol consumption.

As for the food, I have to say, the nachos were a bit of a let down. I think that I was expecting something massive. Even thought the table next to ours got a really great piled up version and ours was... well, a bit lacking and I couldn't help but compare it to a standard Alberto's/Alfredo's super nachos.

The other food was decent and I have to say, if you're going to put Jeopardy up on the televisions, you're going to need to turn the volume up a little. Alex Trebek may hold all the answers in his cue cards but that doesn't mean I'm an expert in reading lips and can't decipher what is the right question to the answer.

Will I come back again? Probably. I didn't hate it, nor can I say I loved it. I am morbidly curious about their burger as I read many other yelpers love it. Maybe next time. Though here's hoping that I'm not pulled over again for driving while brown.

Definitely a dive, but that's kind of what you're in the mood for when you go here. They have great beer specials from time to time, and huge mugs that those specials come in. I've only been here at night, but would imagine that it's a great place to watch football on Saturday or Sunday.

The food is not anything to write home about, but that's not really why you're there. And their bar food tastes like every other bar food, so at least they don't get anything wrong.

Might have given it 3 stars, but gave it that extra star because of all of the great times I've had there. Definitely a fun atmosphere, and a great place to end your night out in El Segundo.

I like the Burger Bar for lunch. You get a burger with a side for $8. They cook the burger for you with your choice of cheese and then you go over to the toppings bar to add all the toppings you choose. Besides the standard burger toppings, you can also add jalapenos, chili, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and grilled green peppers. Sides include fries, salad, and mac & cheese. This meal would easily be $15 at a place like The Counter considering the limits on toppings before they charge extra and the surcharge for "premium" toppings. Not so here. Stack whatever you like on your burger for the price of $8. If you have a Groupon then it's even a better deal!

They also have a bunch of TVs around which would be an added bonus if there were any day games going on.

My only frustration is that for some reason they think if you have a $20 Groupon, that you have to spend $20 for it to be used. They don't get the concept that it is really a "pay $10 to get up to $20 credit towards your food" certificate. In other words it is like a $20 prepaid card with no change back. If we are short of $20 then it's a plus for them. They are confused with a http://restaurants.com certificate where they say you have to purchase X amount to get X amount off.

Awesome bar to get some delicious, fried food!

This seems like a place for locals which was probably why I enjoyed it so much. It looks much more down to earth and less pretentious than the Rock n Brews next door...

No offense to that place, but I mean anything that has Gene Simmons' name on it is a little off putting to me personally. I will have to try it out to see what it's really like though.

But I digress...The Tavern is more of a divey place with interesting people and very basic but delicious food. I was actually quite impressed by the variety of stuff they had on the menu and even more so by the quality of the food when it arrived.

I really enjoyed the Guinness Fries, which were big slices of portobello mushrooms dipped in a nice beer batter and deep fried to a golden brown. Yum! The mac n cheese was also very tasty, their homemade chili was awesome with a great amount of spice and all of the portions are HUGE!!

I will definitely be coming back to this place to try more of their food and maybe hang out a bit. Love that it's open late on the weekends!!

My original 'three star review:

What.....!!? What.....!!??

This place is really loud. I had the misfortune of setting behind a gaggle of amateurishly loud, young girls, but the whole place was loud, generally.

We ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and also Pastrami Reuben Sandwich. They were both decent, though a little on the small side, I think.

Waitresses were busy but attentive.

Your average, comfy neighborhood joint.

I went to an unofficial Yelp event (UYE) here and it was damn good, so between my original three star-er and the UYE's five stars, four will be the average, though I get the feeling that if I keep coming back here, it'll go up.

(My UYE review from
http://www.yelp.com/biz/… )

Good times, indeed.

We (hostess Lucy, her husband and myself) were the first to arrive and were promptly greeted by the staff and shown to our reserved area (side room). From the very start and throughout the night, our server Heather made us feel more welcome than I can remember at any other place. She was super-fast, attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, warm and friendly. I made sure to tip her at 40%.

We started off with a mug of IPA and then ordered the chicken nachos and the portion was huge, smothered with the usual cheeses, jalapenos, beans, etc. Lots of chicken, too, which isn't always the case at other places.

A bit later Lucy decided to buy each table an order of nachos. Originally we had talked about getting a burger later (highly recommended by Joe, who knows his burgers) but the nachos were so huge and filling that after polishing that off, all talk of a burger was forgotten.

Then the 'Cabo Girls' showed up; staff to promote Cabo Tequila (you know, Sammy Hagar's). They offered either the reposado or blanco in little shot glasses and gave out promo items (T-shirts, key chain/bottle openers, guitar picks) to people who ordered.

So a few mugs of IPA (Blue House, Magic Hat, etc), a bottle of Lagunitas Imperial Stout and some Tequila later, we all consolidate into one table where it was nice to meet some new yelpers and friends.

A few months ago Lucy Y and I each bought a Groupon to Tavern on Main, but because of our schedules, the geography and the call of sushi we never had a chance to use them until lunch today. Well actually just one of them, because we saved the other to use for a return evening trip.

But from what I saw during lunchtime, this place has nailed food, atmosphere and service. When they score 5, 5, and 5 in those categories it isn't hard to do the math and figure out this is a 5-star joint. Neither Lucy or I are much on drinking, so we ordered Diet Cokes, which believe it or not, I am going to rave about. They serve it in a tall heavy mug, maybe 40 ounces. The whole thing must weigh 5 pounds full, and yest they refill it. Our waitress, Barbara was busy working a full section, but she kept an eye on the mugs and brought me refills without me having to ask.

They offer a number of appetizers, that sounded great on the menu, and probably would have been great, but they also would have been superfluous given the size of the sandwiches. I went off-menu for one of the daily specials, a Meat Loaf Parmigiana sandwich. Yes I said Meat Loaf, not Meat Ball, and this was comfort food at it's best. It was loaded with Mozzarella and marinara and served on a fresh French Roll. Speaking of comfort food, among the sides you can choose from are Mac and Cheese. Awesome Mac and Cheese. And it was a large bowl too; not a portion cup.

Lucy ordered a Breakfast Club burger, which was an 8 oz beef patty, topped with bacon, fried egg, jack cheese and guacamole. Lucy likes her burgers rare, and they came thru making the way she ordered it.

Tavern also offers a Burger bar, which is a fixings bar for burger customers. when Barbara described it; I envisioned a Fuddruckers type spread with lettuce, tomato, onions and the like, but Lucy reports it also had bacon, mushrooms, chili and all sorts of other fixings. I didn't go back there, so check out her review for more detail.

Or just wait for my update, because we still have a valid Groupon in Lucy's phone' but even if we didn't we would be back.

The whole tab came to $24.35 which is an awesome deal right there; but since the $20.00 Groupon was only $10.00, today's outlay including tax was $4.35, and the real cost was $14.35 before tip.

**Note to all burger lovers: put Tavern On Main on your radar NOW!**

Bill C spotted the Groupon for this hidden gem a while back and we each got one. After visiting today and only using his, I'm thankful that I have another to use to come back with!

I didn't notice their back parking lot, but I easily found a space around the corner on the street (2 hour free parking), and Bill C scored one right out front. This clearly is a lunchtime fave for people who work in the area, as it was busy during this weekday lunch hour. There are outside tables, inside booths, bar seating and even an overflow room with bigger tables. I liked the tavern feel of the place, and all I kept thinking is that I'd totally come back in the evening hours!

We were seated at a comfy booth where we could see a couple of tvs playing, and Barbara took our drink orders right away. When she brought over our beer-stein-ginormous-sized (bottomless) mugs of soda, she took our food orders and told us about the burger bar where she promised scores of condiments awaited a partially undressed burger.

She was so right! When our food arrived, my burger and I walked over to the bar and, unlike most "before" and "after" shots, my burger GAINED about 5 pounds!

My order was inspired by a burger on the menu called The Opie ($7.75) - which had peanut butter and no cheese. But what I really got was:

The Breakfast Club ($9.25) - which is topped with a fried egg, bacon, avocado and jack cheese. I added peanut butter after seeing The Opie : D. Coleslaw was my choice of sides (I could've chosen between fries, mac & cheese, coleslaw, pasta salad or mixed green salad) and a dill pickle spear came alongside.

After I went to the burger bar however, I came back with a little bit of almost everything that was laid out there:

Hot area:
Onion Rings - a little soggy and very oily, not so great but nice to see there
Sauteed Mushrooms - yummy!
Sauteed Peppers - green peppers, yum!
Chili w/Beans - tasted homemade, good spices
Bacon - and LOTS of it
Sauteed Onions - I can never have enough of these!

Cold area:
Peanut Butter - creamy, mmmm
Mayo - seriously yummy with peanut butter! (Don't judge!)
Pineapple - canned rings, Maui burger, anyone?
Tomatoes - slices of ripe, fresh, bright red ones
Onion Relish - didn't try it, but it looked good
Raw Red Onions - a must with bacon!
Pickles - dill slices
Green Leaf Lettuce - crispy and nice, dark leafy greens
Jalapenos - not for me thanks!
Shredded Iceberg - not for me either, thanks!
Guacamole - chunky, fresh, yummy guac!
Sour Cream - yummy with the guac!

(BBQ Sauce & Teriyaki Sauce were available at the bar, and yellow and Grey Poupon mustards, Cholula and Tabasco were available on our table)

Can you see why my burger put on a few pounds after my short walk?!

My burger was served as perfectly rare as I ordered it, and with all the stuff it came with AND I piled on top of it, the value and the flavor were so good and yummy and healthy, that I'm officially Tavern On Main's biggest new fan!

Bill C got: Meatloaf Parm Sammich (the daily special, $9-ish?) w/mac & cheese - this tender and flavorful meatloaf with cheese and marinara was SUPER YUMMY! I'm hoping this is going to be on the menu again, because I'm a big meatloaf fan AND a parmesan style fan. It tasted like a meatball sammich! The mac & cheese wasn't overly cheesy, but it had good flavor - and it was made with cheddar, not cheeZe.

I didn't choose to do this, but I was also impressed that you could swap out their fresh baked (soft and good) hamburger buns with a Kings Hawaiian Sweet Roll for only $.75. AND you could choose a turkey, beef or veggie burger patty with any of the burgers listed.

How's that for customize-a-bility!?

Though we were full, I had to peek at the dessert options. Their Caramel Apple (apple pie with caramel ice cream, glazed pecans, whipped cream and caramel sauce) and Brownie Sundae (cookies & cream ice cream on a browning, with Oreo crumbs, whipped cream and chocolate sauce) sound AWESOME!

Adding to the list of stuff on my to-try list here is their Portobello Fries (battered portobello slices, deep fried). They also have salads, a whole slider menu, and late night eats here! I mean, really, I could eat here every day - at any time of day or night.

With Bill C's Groupon for $20, we only ended up owing $4-ish (without tip). What an awesome deal on so much good food!

That's it, I'm moving in tomorrow : D

It might seem kinda small compared to the place right on the corner next to it but don't worry, people here will love you no matter what!

Service is always nice and come around just at the right time for your next beer. The food was not bad either. Only been here a couple of times but from what I can tell it's a nice local spot to watch some games, drink some beers and have a wake at the trivia that goes on.

Parking is pretty rough in El Segundo so take that into consideration but other than that, you'll enjoy yourself.

After your 2nd stay, they will know you and welcome you like family here.

Not much to review on this place. It's a nice little dive bar on Main St in El Segundo. They sport a diverse crowd that is pretty mellow for the most part. The workers are nice and attentive. We have a business function here about once a year and it always turns out pretty nice. They shut down the bar for a few hours to allow us to have a little privacy. They have a good selection of beers on tap including a couple of crafts from California, which I love.

Parking sucks but that's El Segundo in a nutshell. If you're lucky, you can score a rear entrance parking spot. There are about 8 of them but you better know how to drive on an incline especially if you have stick shift. lol.
It's a steep parking lot.

If I lived close by to this joint, I might come here to watch the game or something. It's chill and reasonable. Didn't eat the food but bar food is bar food imo.

Warning: Cops roam El Segundo all the time so please be careful if you drive. Don't need any accidents or arrests.

The service has taken a nose dive since the last time I was here! My friend and I came in around 6:00pm and there was not that many people here. I think they all moved down the street to this new outdoor bar that used to be a pizza joint for the longest time.

Anyways, our waitress was more interested in watching the football game and flirting with tables of guys than she was in taking care of us. I normally give pretty good tips so she was mistaken to think that the table of guys would have given more.

We ordered nachos and fries and some drinks and the food was pretty good...standard bar food. They had some live music come in around 8:30pm but these two were not very good at all. Who knows what type of music that they were singing but it definitely did not fit the mood of the bar. We left shortly after that and my friend left the tip because she knows that I would have been generous anyways. I don't think it was very much and in all honestly the waitress didn't deserve much.

Last night I was there with 8 friends celebrating my friend's birthday after having a great time at the pizza place next door, which closed and is the only reason we decided to even step foot in this hole in the wall.

We sat at the bar and I was drinking water trying to sober up from drinking next door. The rude bartender (don't know his name) big white guy mid 40's or so, started harrassing me after he noticed I was calling my boyfriend. The bartender began to tell me my boyfriend was having sex with someone else and this is why he didn't pick up the phone. He continued telling me this and much more along the same lines.

My sister (a therapist and hadn't had one drink) was sitting next to me and told him to stop and he said to her, "let me have my fun with her." She replied leave her alone!

He continued pestering me, I had asked him to stop along with my sister and girlfriend and he kept at it! Obviously some twisted way of flirtation (with his wedding ring on.)

Eventually (after perhaps the 10th time or more) I had had enough and I THREW WATER ON HIM.

At that point we left, but not before he called the POLICE on my friend for telling him 'that in an establishment you are never to treat/ speak to a customer inappropriately much less a woman, who has been drinking, and who has repeatedly told you to stop the way he did.'

Police arrived and sided with us and we went home, but the service and staff at this place have no concept of BOUNDARIES.

When I woke-up this morning, looking at my camera and pictures of last night, there are shots I had asked the bartender to take of our group of friends at the bar... well, there was also an additional picture he had taken of my boobs!

If you go to this bar, and you are a female, be careful!!!!!!!!!

This guy proved to show the ugly side of men, and distastefully this establishment wishes to have people like him on their staff.

BTW: as I left I told one of the female employees, I was sorry (thinking she'd sympathize) and she responded, "say sorry to him."

Let me just say, if somebody harrasses you incessantly, takes a picture of your boobs, and then has the audacity to call the police because he is told to take responsibility for what he did (not excusing the water throwing).... the SORRY IS NOT HAPPENING.

Forget the 1 star that I "have" to put...NO STARS FROM ME!

Cops hang out outside the bar and spy on people leaving, looking for somebody to nail. I have also seen cops inside the bar, spying on people, waiting for them to leave, and then following them out to nail them. (Extremely bad for business! I will not come back!)

Note: Daytime review.

The Tavern is seriously the local El Segundo burger joint at its best. Not only is this place the middle ground meet-up location for Bruins/Trojans, the food and atmosphere made me clap after I ate.

First off, the drinks are huge. For $2, I got a drink that was bigger than my face.

Second, there are multiple television screens on every wall--as many as 5 per wall!!

I got the Tavern Burger and it was huge and utterly scrumptious. The bread somehow maintained its crunchy, soft, flakey, doughy, fluffy texture all at the same time! The 8 oz. beef patty was hot and tasty and together the beef and bread alone made the burger. I can honestly say this was the best cheeseburger I have ever had in my entire life. I could've finished the whole thing (huge as it was) but I saved it for dinner as per the law of diminishing returns. The french fries were fresh, hot, and interesting like an exotic female you have to have--or just like a cross between sweet potato and regular fries. The pickle was fresh, crunchy, as pickles should be! The whole meal was splendidly satisfying and the Trojan and I (Bruin) ate there happily in silence watching our separate TV's--as it should be.

4.5 Stars.

If you don't know already the South Bay Bruins come here to watch UCLA sports. As a UCLA Alumni & South Bay resident I felt like it was my duty to finally participate in the group lovefest over UCLA Athletics. Unfortunately my team lost. OH WELL!

But like most of the reviews, this place is a hidden little gem where all the locals go. While watching the game on one of the several tv's, I got myself something to eat and two drinks.

Ordered: The Bruin, Bloody Mary (don't do it) & uh Sex on El Segundo (I think). I recommend both the bruin (beef hamburger with jack cheese & all toppings. QUICK TIP: Remind the waitress to add mayo or any condiments you want on your burger) and sex on el Segundo.

Parking: Find it on the street somewhere.

Bartenders: Eye-Candy galore!

Will I come back? Definitely! The only problem, this place is kinda far away from everything. Nonetheless very awesome, friendly bar.

A patron had a parrot in the bar.

We felt like pirates.

Ok, seriously how cute is this place. It's divey in the way you'd imagine a come-to-life Regal Beagle would be. At about 4pm my co-workers and I grabbed a table at The Tavern on Main. The happy menu hour prices: Dollar off of all liquor. Pints were 4 bucks, and if you wanted to go for it and get a pitcher-like glass (and literaly, it is a pitcher sized glass) it was only 5 bucks. You can't beat that with a bat!

The food here: A-ma-zingggg. Seriously. My group ordered Mozzerella sticks, fries, onion rings, nachos and BBQ buffalo wings (so basically the entire appetizer menu). Everything came out hot, crisp and delicious. We kept ordering more rounds of fries which came out in large bowls, and only lasted seconds once we were served. I also ordered a Bruin Burger: Swiss, guacamole, and bacon with a side of Mac and Cheese. Ummmm yeahhhhh the Mac and Cheese I could probably eat an entire pot full. The staff was attentive for our large group. The only complaint is that in the heat of the day, it was quite warm in there....Nothing a few Stellas can't fix!

With everything being so reasonably priced, and it being so close to work and all, I would not mind coming back here again.

I live in the area and I love this place. The food is awesome, and great menu selection. The drinks are reasonably prices though could be cheaper.

They always have something going on the weekends, and this really awesome Irish band plays once a month on saturday nights and they rock!

The staff is awesome, the locals are great, and I recommend it for sure. They have outside seating for you smokers, and it's just really a fun place to chill with friends.

You can even do that trivia game, or just watch sports on one of their MANY tv's :)

Love it.

Quick & Dirty:

For lunch this place is pretty good, especially if you want to die of a heart attach at an early age. I've never been here for dinner, only lunch and it's pretty good. Kick ass Pretzel Sandwich! I'm assuming at night it's a bar.

Long & Greasy:

I will go here every once in a while, mostly because I don't like going back to work after eating a whole bunch of unhealthy crap! Not that I wouldn't want to but until I get a bed under my desk I pace myself at lunch.

The servers are as old as dirt but that's okay, they feed me. The really nice thing about them is that they pretend like they have never seen me before and treat me like a complete stranger every time they see me even though I've been here plenty! I like to pretend like I don't know people also, so THAT works out perfect.

Pluses: Flat screens with various channels playing. NTN if you're into that. Not very crowded

Minuses: I can't drink beer at lunch.

I like their Club Sandwich, Wrap, Burgers ROCK! Get a burger, they have a whole bunch to choose from!
