Figure out how to take a Delivery Order. It's not rocket science. If you can't remember to ask for Name, Address and a PHONE NUMBER then you shouldn't be in business. Furthermore, when you mess up the order the first thing you shouldn't ask is if I CAN COME AND PICK IT UP. Â FIX YOUR OWN MISTAKES!!! You didn't even ask to discount the bill. Unbelievably bad service.
Review Source:Boyfriend and I ordered from this place last night. Delivery took 2.5 hours when they said 1 hour. They screwed up the order (even though they called to confirm the one thing they didn't send). Food was cold. And why is everyone saying it's spicy? The Spice Girls had more spice. 90% of that cold sticky noodle mess (Pad Thai) and watered down curry (Massaman) ended up in the garbage along with our $60. Â As a New Yorker, this Thai food was below average at best -- you could get better Thai food for less elsewhere. The end.
Review Source:I have been looking for great Thai food ever since I moved here from the East Coast. Hands down, this is THE best Thai restaurant in Denver. If you're looking for authentic and deliciously spicy food, look no further. Like many great Asian restaurants, the atmosphere is less than desirable, but who cares?! am actually craving some Thai at the moment and I think I may need to try the coconut soup that everyone on Yelp raves about.
Review Source:Pangang curry was great! Love how spicy the food is; level 4 is just right to where you're clearing your sinuses but dont get indigestion.
Takeout portion was a tad bit small for ten bucks. Had the value been a bit better I'd have given it five stars.
Will return to try a few other dishes! So far this may be the best joint in Denver. Unfortunately we don't have a Thai Tom's like they do in Seattle!
Don't try and be a hero, Thai Monkey Club will win! Â Their hot scale is not the same as the many others in the area. Â Anything higher than a 3 will bring the heat. Â That being said, feel free to ignore this advice and burn your face.
So yeah, it's good spicy Thai food all around. Â From the curry to the Phai Thai everything is above average. Â The spring rolls were surprisingly tasty. Â They are usually not my first choice for appetizers but I would get them again, and again. Â
My only minor gripe and I mean minor, is that they tend to be understaffed nearly every time I'm in there. Â If it was once I'd chalk it up to a fluke, but it's happened often enough for me to notice it. Â The $2 beers seem to even that factor out for me though. Â Like I said minor gripe.
best thai in denver. right up there with swing thai. the soups are great, and the pad is really good. no frills, little place in south broadway. the prices are great, and they have a good lunch special as well. good go to place if you dont want to get dressed up to go out for good thai food.
Review Source:We went here again and were realllllllllly disappointed.
First off owners -- TURN DOWN YOUR STEREO SYSTEM. I actually thought there was a car parked outside with the base turned wayyyy up but no, it's their stereo system. I couldn't even hear the music, if there was any. This was aggravating and by the end of the meal I wanted to either break dance or get into a street fight.
The food also wasn't nearly as good as I remembered. Maybe it's because I've since been to Star Thai which is hands down light years beyond this place in terms of flavor and deliciousness. Or maybe the food just wasn't so great this time. I think both are probably true.
Now to get my hearing checked.
My visit to this place was fantastic. I'm giving it 4 stars because I have only been there once, and also because I can't speak for the delivery service.
First, the food...yum!
We had spring rolls and wontons for appetizers, and those were good, but not out of the ordinary. I liked the dipping sauces for those. Also, we had some lemongrass hot tea, and it was great.
Our table got the red curry, the green curry (with no modifications on the spiciness), the pad woon sen and the pad preaw wan (we asked that those came as mild as possible).
They were all amazing. I'm not a huge fan of curry but the people who ordered them loved them. I personally think they were too spicy...
I was really scared when I went there, because of the reviews saying to be careful if you're not someone that likes to have your mouth on fire. The two last plates I mentioned, however, were very mild, but still well seasoned and tasty! I thought the noodles were better seasoned, but I do love that the stir fry had pineapples in it...
For dessert we tried the rice pudding. It was okay, it tasted just like you'd expect it to. It reminded me of a brazilian tapioca.
The service was way above average.
The place wasn't very full, and the food came out very fast. Our servers were very keen to help us out and accommodate our modifications and such.
One of the grumpier people on our party had a complaint on her plate, and they promptly offered to make something else for her, free of charge.
The people there, along with the great food, was the highlight of our visit
I'll definitely go back!
A two describes this place perfectly...Mehh. I have definitely had better Thai food. However service was good, probably because we were the only people in the place. If I am on Broadway craving Thai food, then I will consider going again, but I will not go out of my way to visit here again.
Review Source:This is not real Thai food. I lived in Thailand and ate the food every day. The noodles have very little flavor and alot of spice.. I love Thai 6 out of 6, but the problem is they don't even use the right spice. I don't recommend if you're looking for good Thai food. Â The delivery people were very kind though..
Review Source:Thai food is decent, delivery not that great. The first time we ordered from them, our curry sauce came dumped in the entire bag and into all our other food. The second time, yes we gave them another chance, they did not deliver our full order, and when we immediately called the driver to tell him this, it still took over half an hour to get the entire order.
Bummer, Thai Monkey club. That was probably your last chance.
AND NOW WE BOTH HAVE FOOD POISONING.
STAY AWAY.
I had the seafood pinapple rice and my husband had a chicken plate. The chicken dish was bland, the seafood rice had imitation crab (it would have been good without the seafood though)! I had never had thai iced tea but i wouldnt recommend it. Â In addition the server was condescending and acted as if we were bothering her just buy having her take our order.
I would not waste a night out on this place, to many other great places in the area.
I love Thai food. And I was really surprised how good this place was! I got the massaman curry with chicken. The only thing is, is that I didn't realize that the heat scale was 1-6. So, thinking it was a 1-10 heat scale I ordered a 3. Soooo hot! so, FYI make sure you know that the HEAT SCALE IS 1-6! I ended up having to ask the waiter for a new dish because it was too spicy. But after I got my new plate, it was fantastic!
Review Source:I was really excited to try Thai Monkey Club given it's proximity to my place! I really liked that they have a 6-point "heat scale": 1- mild 3: "starts getting hot" and 6: "Thai hot". For me, this was genuinely helpful when ordering (I ordered 2, though I tried some 3 and it's true...it did get pretty hot!) Â I also enjoyed that tofu was a visible option for protein in Pad Thai!
I had a Thai iced tea that was great and the food was good. It didn't blow me away, but if I needed to get my Thai on and I was in the area, it would do the trick.
The main reason I'm giving 2 stars is because our service was horrible. Our waitress got our orders wrong (wrote them wrong from the beginning), was frazzled, and a bit slow...but to be fair, she was just about the only person waiting tables. However, my main problem was that she was very unconcerned about my friend's gluten allergy. Said, "Oh, do you *just* get an upset stomach when you eat it?" No, actually she gets hives, turns red, and deals with stomach pain all night. But why should she have to explain that?
Unfortunately, we left with said friend hiving, turning red, and feeling really terrible. It's hard to tell if there was gluten in her dish, or if her food was cooked in the same pan as another meal containing gluten. While "gluten free" options are touted on the menu, it doesn't seem like much care is put into ensuring this for customers.
For the gluten-eating crowd, you'll be satisfied if you're looking for Thai (ambiance could be better, but the prices are great), but if you're gluten-free, I'd look elsewhere.
Small, quaint, and nothing out of the ordinary, this small spot off Broadway sure did deliver on an awesome and authentic Thai meal on our first visit. Â To begin, they have a really good beer selection which really surprised me. Â On top of that, the Thai beers are just $2 all day! Â Beer aside, the food was awesome. Â Our servers were incredibly friendly and helpful in recommendations. Â They also forewarned us about the spice level and provided us the option to add in spice just to be safe.
I ordered the pad preaw wan, recommended by our server, which was a stir fry of pineapple, carrot, baby corn, tomato, cucumber, and chicken. Â Awesome combo of sweet and spicy with a great texture and crunch from the carrots and cucumber. Â The sauce was unlike any others I've had at Thai restaurants and was perfect when soaked up by the rice. Â My girlfriend ordered the pad thai with shrimp, which although pretty standard was as good as anywhere. Â The portion size was substantial and had enough left over for lunch the following day. Â All in all, I will add Thai Monkey Club into my repertoire of Thai restaurants to frequent and will happily be back.
All the food is so good and so authentic and so wonderful, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Some of the best Thai I have ever had. incredibly spicy though. When they say not they mean it... I have left in tears there a couple times. But even if my dish (I usually get the lara or the papaya salad) is of my scale of heat tolerance, I suffer through: it is that good.
Review Source:Absolutely love this place! Â I typically order the green curry with chicken and brown rice. Â The spice level can be unbelievably hot if you're unfamiliar with Thai spice levels. Â I recommend anyone seeking a spicy dish to order nothing more than a mild-plus spice level (also level #2 on their scale from 1 to 6). Â
Sometimes the spice level isn't very consistent and can be either slightly too spicy or mild from what I would like. Â Regardless of this, the food is so good that it deserves 5 stars!
So I found this place on Yelp when I was craving Thai food and on my way to an event in Denver. We stopped in, and while there was only one person on the front end this place had amazing service.
First, there were probably 7 people in the back and one or two people in the front during our entire visit. That tells me one thing, they care more about the food than the service, so you would expect service to lack. NOPE! We were not only attended to promptly but our food was out quickly as well.
The best part, the prices! My friend and I got the dumplings, rangoons, pad thai, and drunken noodles and it was only 26 bucks! Amazing prices, great food, and great service. I'll definitely be back. Besides we only got a 4 out of 6 on the spicy level so we have to go back and try a 5, well my friend does at least.
BE CAREFUL if you're not into spicy, this is not your average spicy scale. I was dying with the 4, and the 3 is apparently spicy enough too.
Have to say that we are very disappointed! Found this place on Yelp with 4 stars, so we decided to try it and went with friends last night. The Papaya Salad was tasty and authentic, but the Tom Yum soup was terrible. The shrimp was not fresh (with very fishy taste), and the taste of the soup was not right. My friend ordered the eggplant dish with pork. The dish tasted good, but there was no pork in it. Overall, their dishes were a bit too salty. Our service wasn't good at all. Our waitress was distracted from the beginning and kept messing up our orders (ie. kept forgetting to bring rice with our dishes and put water in a glass of coconut juice), and she put our check on the table before we even had a chance to order dessert. Anyway, the bad shrimp sent us all to the bathroom as soon as we got home. That's just not cool!
Review Source:After my first visit to Thai Monkey Club back in August, I've been dreaming of my next chance for a second visit. Â Well, the mood hit and a friend and I made it back last night.
Everything on the menu is oh so tempting! Â I opted to try the red curry with beef last night while my friend went with the drunken noodles. Â For some reason, even after being discouraged by our server, we both were feeling daring and went with the spice level 3. Â
Oh boy. Â I figured venturing half way in spiciness would be okay, but hot damn, my face was on fire! Â A 2 would have been plenty spicy! Â Now, don't get me wrong, my curry and rice was amazingly delicious, but my face was indeed on fire! Â And my friend's drunken noodles were incredibly awesome as well.
I may not be an expert on Thai food in any way shape or form, but my palate is certainly loving the spicy flavors and wonderful noodle dishes. Â And TMC is definitely high up in my book of favorite Thai places right now. Â
If you're looking for a kick in the teeth with your noodles and rice, Thai Monkey Club is the place to go!
So far, this is definitely my favorite thai place in Denver, AND the only one that I've found as of yet that has glass noodles, which are my favorite (Pad woon sen.... YUM).
Definitely try it out, the flavors are amazing, and the prices are super reasonable.
Fair warning, though, they rate their spiciness on a level from 1-6. I like a fair bit of spiciness and the 3 is perfect... it's pretty spicy. My boyfriend, who is Indian and is more inclined to spiciness got the 4 a couple of times and it's so spicy he's going to downgrade to the 3.... so tasty, though!!! mmmm
I don't know why the 4-star reviews here - this place is just fine, but nothing to write home about. I ordered it while visiting Denver, and had it delivered to my hotel room via GrubHub. All in all, a far cry better than having room service delivered - that's for sure. But overall, really quite average.
Also, small problem with the delivery itself. It came early (yea!), but without silverware (boo!). But this review isn't about that - it's about the quality of the food.
We had 4 dishes:
1) Spring rolls - don't bother. They are stuffed almost entirely with vermicelli noodles, and very little else.
2) Onion pancakes - pretty good, but the dipping sauce they provide with this dish is uber-salty and almost inedible.
3) Pad thai - fine enough
4) Eggplant stirfry - actually pretty good. The eggplant was still a bit too firm, but the flavorings were good.
I have to agree with others about the spice factor: they know what they're doing! Â I was warned when I wanted "Medium" and went with "Mild Plus" which was right on the money for me. Â And the woman taking my order was very friendly and helpful. Â I enjoy a person who enjoys what they do and the food they serve!
Drunken noodles were tasty, though a little dry the next day so not as great for leftovers, and I love me some leftovers. Â The Tom Ka had great broth, but I wasn't a fan of the additions... specifically the mushrooms. Â I believe they were canned. Â I don't do canned mushrooms. Â Nasty texture, nasty taste... just nasty. Â I strained the broth out and enjoyed it to it's fullest extent, however. Â
Definitely warrants a re-visit... I'll keep you posted...
I thought I would use up some livingsocial delivery credits and order from somewhere new so because the reviews looked good, I tried Thai Monkey Club. Â
First, love the name which is why I was adimant about trying them even though there is a $5 charge for delivery. Â
I wanted to try some different things so I ordered crispy egg rolls, thai dumplings and pad thai. Â There isn't much to the egg rolls but there is a nice little kick and they are damn yummy; I get cravings for egg rolls every now and then, this goes on my list of good ones. Â The thai dumplings were surprisingly bland actually. Â After the egg rolls I had anticipated some damn good dumplings but they were fairly disappointing.
But then there is the chicken Pad Thai. Â I ordered it mild, minding the warnings about how spicey they can make their food and it was very mild- the egg rolls had more kick. Â It was good. Â Sometimes chicken in those kinds of things can be poor quality but this was good stuff, yummy. Â I wish there were a few more bean sprouts in it but thats a personal preference. Â
All in all, yeah, I'd love to go try to actual location. Â Was it great? No. Â Was it good? yes.
Enough already, I get it, this place serves food spicy hot. Â While that is just fine, does a Thai restaurant deserve 4 or 5 stars just because of the spiciness level? Not in my opinion.
Ate the Pad Kra Pao with ground pork at level 3; that spice level is incendiary at Thai Monkey Club. Â I will need to adjust this accordingly on my subsequent visit.
Thai cuisine has some of the most amazing flavors and combinations of flavors, none of which I can describe in this dish since my taste buds were obliterated.
If you are not into subtlety and just like heat for heats sake then by all means, you've found your Thai restaurant. Â If you want a more nuanced approach to Thai cooking, then I would suggest another place.
The food is fairly priced, the restaurant clean, service is efficient, and the decor pleasant. Â That's all I'm willing to say about this place until I give it a second try.
On a Friday night at 8 PM this place was empty, which was fine with me. The food was still really good.
We started with their dumplings and then pad Thai with chicken. Perfect amount of food for 2 to share and the bill was only $15.
Wasn't sure what to expect with the spicy numbering, so we got a 3 and it was not spicy at all. Maybe I caught them on an off night.
Decent but not great. Perhaps the coolest thing about this place is the name. Anything with a monkey is cool in my book.
The food: spiciness is ordered on a scale of 1 to 6 with 6 being the hottest. Seeing as I'm a total wimp when it comes to hot food I tried to play it safe and go with a 2. Wowza - still way spicy!
You can judge a Thai place by the quality of the Pad Thai and this one, while spicy, was still excellent the next day for lunch. My date got a 3 on the salad, a 4 on the entree and was crying by the end of the meal (because of the heat factor not cuz of the date - I hope).
The service: on a Saturday night this place wasn't packed at all. While we never had to wait for a water refill thanks to a good busser the waitress was noticeably absent for most of the meal. 10 minutes to get a glass of wine and needing to ask a different server for our bill is not the way to go.
The location: a bit hard to find because it's nestled in a small nook on Broadway. The physical space was pretty small but seeing as it wasn't crowded I didn't mind. However, if the spot is hoppin' i could see this place being way too cramped to enjoy.
All in all i wouldn't jump up and down at the thought of going back but if I find myself fiending for some Thai food while on Broadway this place might just do the trick.
I am truly mystified by the good reviews for this place. Â My husband is Thai, so he kinda knows his Thai food, and after being married to him for 32 years and enjoying his cuisine both here and in Thailand, I'm pretty familiar with it as well. Â The food here is far from authentic. Â I had the Panang Curry, which is pretty hard to screw up, but it didn't taste like any Panang Curry I've ever had. Â I don't recall now what my husband had, but he gave it a thumbs down. Â As for the heat, they weren't doing the 1-6 scale that so many reviews here mention when we dined there (in March of 2012), so I simply asked for "Thai hot." Â It was hot, but not as hot as I like it and certainly not "Thai hot." Â
I don't know if Denver is just a black hole for Thai food or what, but we'll stick with Cafe de Bangkok in Fort Collins from now on. Â On a side note, my mother LOVED the place.,,but my mother isn't a fan of Thai food. Â That says something! Â
Try Cafe de Bangkok in Fort Collins for the best we've found in Colorado, with Thai Chili in Grand Junction a close second.
Wow. I finally found a place hotter than US Thai. Â I actually think I prefer this place to the former, one for spice level/execution and the fact that it is much closer to me!
Came here with some friends this past weekend and ordered a few things: Papaya Salad, Shrimp pad thai, panang curry and the fish. Â The spice scale is 1-6, and we got the salad at a 5- BIG MISTAKE. I literally had tears of pain running down my face after a few bites and couldn't bear to eat more. however, the flavor was pretty amazing despite the spice level.
The Pad Thai was not sickiningly sweet like I see other thai places do around town. This was actually one of my favorites, since it was light on the sauce and had good flavor- spice level 4 which was still a little uncomfortable. Â I did also enjoy the panang chicken, but the lemongrass was a bit too much for me. However, I did eat the leftovers the next day for lunch and it seemed to have gone away. Much better the next day!!! Â
I even tried a bite of fish even though I don't eat it normally. The sauce was incredible- almost a sweet and sour type sauce. It made the fish not taste like..well, fish!
Prices are reasonable and they have cheap beers as well. Definitely on my go to list from here on out.
For the ultimate authentic experience: choose to go on a sunny, hot afternoon to have dinner outside, bonus points for an early dinner for getting extra smog, car noise, fluorescent light flickering on a neon painted wall, and a abandoned adult movie theater across the street. As my friend Dan commented, felt like we were in Thailand eating off the streets.
As for the food, it's awesome! Not your typical favorite Thai restaurant you are used to; Thai Monkey Club offers a range of Thai dishes, and maybe a few non-thai, common pseudo Asian things, like 'crab cheese wonton', 'wonton soup', everything else is Thai. Awesome veggie/animal protein ratio, level of heat is awesome, they advertise 0-6 and we got 4 and 5 which were very good, and they use fresh Thai chili peppers instead of dumping a bunch of red chili flakes.
We got:
*Papaya salad (Heat level 5), awesome flavors, tamarind paste was definitely present, and lots of fresh lime juice, this contrast made this salad very bright. Heat level was awesome, though it made Kat cry... of joy!
*Shrimp Pad Thai (Heat level 4), this is not your regular ketchup based overly sweet pad thai. Noodles were cooked perfectly and seasoning was great, lots of veggies, eggs, and prawns.
*Panang Curry (Heat level 4), like Kat mentioned, a bit over powering on the lemongrass, but other than that flavors were good, and lots of bell peppers.
*Pla Rad Prik (No option for heat level), two whole medium sized tilapias marinated in white wine and tamarind, covered in a sauce filled with garlic, peppers, shallots, fish sauce, and palm sugar. It reminds of a homemade sweet and sour sauce taste.
*Sweet Sticky Rice Mango, awesome dessert to finish our experience.
Definitely my favorite Thai restaurant in Denver, for its amazing food, authentic atmosphere sitting out, $2 Singha beers, very friendly wait staff, clean restrooms, price, and location! Why do delivery when you can get a whole new experience dining in?
Working over the weekend, and feeling sorry for myself, I decided that for lunch maybe I needed to hit up that South Broadway club where the Thai Monkeys party. And lemme tell you, it was hot, hot, hot.
The drunken noodles, I mean. Almost as good as the Thai Cart lady's, and that's some kinda good.
"Medium hot" at the TMC was top-of-the-head sweatingly good. Not so over-powering as to make my taste buds roll over in agony, but it did supply the face-smacking, eye-opening tingle of running into Sonia Couling at a Bangkok bikini pool party. (Well, probably enough said about that time in my life).
Anyway . . . I'm looking forward to comparing this neighborhood gem to what the Aurora neighbors are getting from Utumporn Killoran (the Thai Cart lady from the 16th St. Mall). I think that would be the Southeast Asian culinary equivalent of a WWE smackdown match between Layla and Aksana (and if you don't know what that means, you're not spending enough drunken time in front of your late night TV).
So party on, TMC. You rock.
Oh, how I hate to write this review because so many people will disagree with me but tonight was the single worst  Asian delivery  that I have ever experienced.  I had miserable delivery  from Thai Basil last night and I've seen pretty good reviews of this place so I thought I'd try it - inedible.
First, it took me a good 15 minutes on the phone to explain to the woman where I live - about six blocks away. Â I could understand if there was a language challenge but she spoke perfect English. Â How many times do I have to spell O-G-D-E-N?
Second, the food was abysmal. Â The Fresh Spring Rolls contained exactly 2 shrimp (one each split into two - not two each) Â - I disassembled them and counted. Â Really, 2 shrimp between two rolls and a bunch of rice noodles and vegetation for $6. Â Really?
Third, Drunken Noodles (kind of my litmus test for take-out  Asian).  It was a totally congealed  mess of sticky noodles, tail on little shrimp, and non-desrcript veggies.  It was burn your mouth out hot for the "medium" requested though.
I'd say 90% is in the dumpster awaiting rescue by our many dumpster divers. Â I hope they taste it before committing.
Sorry, Thai Basil, you aren't the worst. Â I should have given the $20 to the dumpster divers.
