Ordered lunch with a co-worker and was pleasantly surprised. Delivery was quick. Spring rolls were fresh and tasty and the chicken pad thai was flavorful and generous. Could have skipped the free dessert they sent over though. Not sure what it was, but it tasted like coconut milk with little green jello balls floating in it...yuk!
Review Source:Amazing! I found this 'gem of a place' on yelp and it was so tasty...I went there twice in one week! Â Very affordable lunch specials that include soup, appetizer, main dish and dessert are reason enough to come here. Â The menu has a great selection of Thai dishes (so far, I've had Beef & Broccoli and Pad Thai and I loved them both). Â The egg rolls and tapioca pudding were my favorites. Â
The service is pleasant and prompt. I'm so glad this restaurant is close to my office and right down the street from a new Mariano's that should be opening soon.
Went here with my boyfriend and some friends and it definitely some of the best thai food. Â My favorite was the tom kha soup--it want not all just mushroom and chicken like alot of the other places give you. Â It was perfectly spicy--not too much and not too little. Â The service was really good too, friendly, fast, efficient.
Review Source:We used to live near Uptown and frequented the Thai Pastry there. Â When we moved, we thought our access to Thai deliciousness was going to be severely restricted. Â
Wrong! Â
We've been in three times now and it's just as good as the original. Â My favorites are the catfish in garlic sauce and their lunch specials. Â So much food for such a great price! Â My dude loved his duck soup and is still raving about it weeks later.
Was in the area and was craving Thai so my friend and I decided to give it a shot. It's not a fancy restaurant by any means and it's quite small. But the food and service were great. I ordered the garlic chicken special...which I requested to have made with clear noodles. It was very good. My friend ordered a vegetarian dish with eggplant and peppers, which was also very good. The fresh spring rolls were decent....I have had better. I ordered a side of peanut sauce with it, so that made it much better. I would definitely go back again.
Review Source:My husband and I love this place! Â We have been going here regularly since I was preggers 3 years ago. Â He never would eat Thai, but gave in bc I was pregnant. Â He loooves this place. Â
Lunch specials during the week are a super deal....apps and a dessert included for around $6.95. Â We go with our 2 yr old whenever we have a day off together during the week. Â We get three entrees and split them all between us. Â There is so much food we end up taking some home. Â And yes, my daughter does eat. Â
We always get chicken fried rice bc my daughter will eat tons of it. Â The rice is very high quality and fresh, not hard like some places. Â Pad Thai is great. Â The orange chicken is my husbands favorite. Â The sauce is very fresh and tastes like orange....I know, sounds crazy. Â It is not that think goop that other places pass off as orange chicken sauce. Â My favorite is the chicken coconut curry. Â It is sooooooooo good. Â My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Â It is spicy, but not rude. Â It is slightly sweet, but not sickly sweet. Â I could drink the broth by the gallon. Â It is so good. Â

In the burbies. Regular looking Thai spot. Lots of fun things on the menu. BOBA included. + all sorts of desserts. Freshly made. Adding to my locals list.
-Pad See-Iew - Â Stir fried thick rice noodle with broccoli and egg
-Green Curry Fried Rice - Â Saute green curry paste with choice of meat, bamboo shoot, eggplant, jalapeno pepper and basil leaves in coconut milk.
Curry hits the yum spot but the chicken is kinda meh.
Wanted to get a quick bite to eat on a really hot day. This was a 5 minute walk from my apartment so my partner and I headed here. The service was good. We were promptly seated, given drinks, and menus.
We ordered the coconut curry chicken, curry fried rice, basil chicken, and pot stickers for an appetizer.
Pot stickers were delicious. They were made out of this crispy, thin dough, perfect crunch, and savory and sweet.
Curry fried rice was pretty good. The rice was fluffy and flavorful. The only negatives were that the chicken was slightly tasteless and a tad rubbery and it had cilantro. I hate cilantro but your mileage may vary on that.
Coconut curry = Amazing Party in my mouth. It was a combination of egg noodles and crispy golden fried noodles and cucumbers. It was extremely savory with a slight overtone of sweetness from the coconut. The cucumber added some veggie fresh goodness to the mix and the golden noodles gave me a crunch and guilty pleasure cause its fried taste.
So the food is pretty good -- not the best Thai I have ever had -- but decent. Combine that with the price though and you have got a really good deal. Two people can go here, get two main courses, fried rice, and an appetizer and the cost is going to be around 30 bucks.
We had the Thai Pad, a favorite at our place near Wrigley Field. Thai Pastry 2 does an excellent presentation at a moderate dinner price ($8). Fresh cilantro added a nice surprise to the noodles, and the nicely shredded carrot and cabbage worked. A full plate. Loved the baby egg rolls and the Thai iced tea was very good. BYOB. Good place!

I have wanted to try Thai Pastry2 for sometime now. We finally made it there this week. I am sorry I did not stop in sooner.  They are located in a strip mall full of different cuisines, Polish, Italian, Chinese, Filipino  and Lebanese.  So much to choose from.  I digress, the place is cute, well decorated and spotless.  The service is attentive and they will make any dish to the spice level you require. We had Spring Rolls to start and they were wonderful.  Entrees were Lime Chicken( delish) and put Ruby's Lime Chicken to shame, Pad Thai with Tofu that melted in your mouth and a wonderful Eggplant dish.  The presentation of the food is simply beautiful and the servers are wonderful.  Since this was our first visit, we were not so adventurous, but will be back to try many items at this great venue.
Review Source:I've eaten here many times since, and I've yet to have a bad meal. Usually have 3-5 dishes every time--typically trying at least one new item--and the food always gets thumbs up from myself and whomever I dine with: Phuket noodles, mango sticky rice, BBQ pork fried rice, pad kee mao... To top it all off, the service is always exceptionally friendly and attentive.
Review Source:I drove past this place and wasnt really what to expect but there were posters in the window stating that they were rating in Zagots and other local chicago food listings.  Again, stuck to the same thing, Pad Thai.  Unfortunatly the dish did not have any flavor. The service was quick and the restaurant was clean but the food lacked any luster.  Realizing much to  late that I was in the Polish neighborhood of Chicago I should have hunted out for a plate of peirogos and kept driving past this place.  :(
Review Source:My little neighborhood gem! I gave up on Thai food for years after a bad experience at one of my fave Thai restaurants downtown. After hearing rave reviews from friends about this place, I decided to give it a try, and am glad I did. The food is really good and full of flavor. Their potstickers have now become my favorite and their mini egg rolls are so good! Every entree I've tried so far has been great, especially the catfish in garlic sauce, so far my favorite entree. If you're in the area, give it a try. I highly recommend it!
Review Source:This place is the best for lunch!
My buddy and I go all the time. We get a full meal, including a soup and appetizer and a dessert for about $7 each.
I have had the Pad Thai and the Chicken Garlic Prik. Both are amazing! The customer service is great. They have a tv for the news and tit is always a great lunch experience.
Their green tea smoothies are delicious too! If you are in the area, stop by and give them a try.
So I randomly came across this place the other day when driving aimlessly for a lunch spot. I originally wanted Chinese but I love Thai so I had to see what this place had to offer. I really, really, really wanted to like this place, and I tried, but I just wasn't impressed overall.
The place itself is fine. Medium-sized. Large bar, but I'm not sure if it's wine/champaigne only or what.
I came in and ordered take-out. The menu seemed pretty average. I was extremely disappointed when I didn't see any mango or spicy mango shrimp :(
I ended up ordering two entrees, cause that's just what I do when I eat. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles). It was spicy stir fried wide rice noodles with onion, tomato and beansprouts. The noodles were the best part of this dish. They were soft, thick in width, and held its own flavor. The noodles aren't really that spicy at all but they're good. The "tomato" was literally a tomato; it was one huge chunk of it. The overall dish was okay I guess.
I also ordered one of the "house specials". I asked the man taking my order which he would recommend between the roasted duck and the seafood combo and I went with his advice of the seafood combo. It consists of squid, catfish, mussel and shrimp saute in red curry with eggplant and basil leaves. The red curry was good, I almost wanted to drink it but I'm not sure that's what you're supposed to do. The squid was also good. But I was disappointed in the mussel, catfish and shrimp. The shrimp were small, as were the catfish and mussel. I love shrimp and mussel, as I consistently have it with a lot of Italian dishes, so this was a fail.
They claim they have good smoothies but I didn't get a chance to try them. Not sure I will either.
Shrimp pad thai was pretty decent and flavorful. Â I was raving about the duck though. Â On a bed of rice, the au jus of the duck flavored the plain white rice very nicely. Â Duck is normally a fattier cut of meat, but theirs was prepared very leanly, but juicy, with just the right amount of spices. They also gave a nice portion and at approx $9 for takeout for this meal, it's well worth the quick buy. Â The family oriented restaurant is open 7 days a week, which is great if you don't wanna cook after a long day of work on a Monday. Â (me, me!). Â Order was done in about 15 minutes
Cute little spot. Â I will have to try their Uptown location to compare.
Living a further south off Harlem, but still technically in the city, I get my Thai food usually in the Oak Park area. However, after running some errands at the infamous HIP, I used my phone to see if there were any nearby Thai places. I was excited to find Thai Pastry because I feel that I should embrace areas that are in and around my little Chicago neighborhood instead of always opting out for Oak Park.
I thought that the Tom Kha Kai soup was excellent. I ordered the small size and it fed two of us, and could have easily served three. It was very hot, but tolerable because of the coconut milk. The crab rangoon was really good and flavorful. But the entrees were just ok. The Pad Woon Sen was good, but not the best. I tried a new special- yakisoba noodles, and they were just ok. My dining companion and I actually switched plates because he liked mine better than the Pad Woon Sen (which I happy about because I originally wanted to order that anyways).
Service was good and the place is cute. The restaurant was empty when we got there and the waiter was eating his meal. It looked like a big bowl of noodles in broth. I really wanted to ask him what he was eating, but I chickened out. I wish I had because I just assumed he was eating something off the menu that was flavorful and spicy- exactly what I had wanted for dinner! I think I will come back here to support the area, but there are some places in Oak Park that just have better food.
Love this place!! I am a fan of Thai Pastry in Uptown and was really glad to see one much closer to home! The service was ,in my opinion, excellent. The prices?? Maybe not dirt cheap, but certainly not outrageous, especially for the quality. We shared the fried Banana, delicious. Also shared the Shrimp Salad, Yellow Curry and Lad-Na. All very good and served quickly and with a smile. The best part?? This place is BYOB...and NO corkage!! I will most certainly return!!
Review Source:Not the worlds greatest Thai food... But, probably the greatest that Harwood Heights has to offer. A little expensive for Thai but that's not a huge issue.
The Pad Thai, Chicken was really good. Panang Curry was really good but coulda been a bit spicier... The egg rolls were really good too :)
Would totally eat here again.
I stopped in for the first time today to pick up some pad see ewe and basil chicken. Â I never tried this place before but heard good things. Â Boy was I disappointed! Â The food was good, but the prices were outrageous and the portions were tiny! Â I mean, a whole dinner that fits in a tiny container smaller than something you would take leftovers to work in? Â My lunch was $20.. I scarfed it in 2 seconds and am still hungry. Â Oh yeah and they charge you $1 for white rice. Â I will NOT be coming back.
The red flag should have been the minute I walked in. Â The place is gorgeous, clean, beautifully decorated with high end furniture and lighting, and had flat screen tv's all over. Â Oh yeah, and there was not a single customer in there at lunchtime. Â I'm sorry but when you are looking for awesome ethnic food at a low price, you want to walk into a filthy dump that is full of people of that ethnicity... :-) Â This place is for yuppies with money.
Three and a half stars. I would have never guessed, a Thai restaurant in Harwood Heights. But it's there!
I came here with my mom after a place she wanted to go to was closed. Good thing we did come here, because otherwise I would have passed this place up without ever looking. I ordered Cashew Chicken, and surprisingly, it was pretty good, and the portions don't disappoint.
I came here again with my fiance and again wasn't disappointed. I don't remember what I ordered the second time around, and maybe that's not so good, but it must have been decent, since if I would have remembed if it was horrible.
I set my standards pretty high when it comes to Thai, so no four stars for this spot, even though it is very good and maybe even worthy of an additional trip some time.
Pathetic excuse for Thai food. Â You can go to plenty of great Thai places in Chicago (Roong Petch is good).
Not vegetarian friendly. Â Asked for my dish to be made vegetarian. They said no problem. I said make sure there is no fish sauce or anything with meat. They served me a dish that was basically tofu, veggies, and chicken broth.... lots of chicken broth. Having not eaten meat for 3 years, I got pretty sick.
Vegetarians... don't eat here.
Thai Pastry 2 is a good place for Thai cuisine. We were looking for a Thai restaurant close to home, and this was one. Â We ordered the Tom Yum chicken, Chicken Panang, and Chicken Pad Thai. Â All were good dishes, not the best I've tasted, but good for what's close to home. Â The Chicken Panang was a little watery, not as thick as other places, but it didn't diminish the overall okay taste. Â
Overall, good food, okay prices, good service. Â An okay Thai restaurant if you're the neighborhood.
Came with some girlfriends and was pleasantly surprised by this place. It was in a strip mall and surrounded by a plethora of international foods...would it be able to provide tasty Thai?
The answer is yes...fairly good Thai. We had the chicken pad thai, chicken pad siew, and chicken coconut curry with egg noodles. Both pads were good, the siew being the better one since it was more flavorful. The good old pad thai was ok, but nothing special. The chicken coconut curry was a little more coconut and less curry and the noodles were a bit mushy for the heaviness of a sauce.
Otherwise, the service was pleasant and the price was reasonable. Heard that the red snapper was yummy, might come back for that!
Yeah, a Thai Restaurant that delivers! I have to agree with the previous reviewer, that an Asian restaurant charging for rice is a bit much, but their portion size, total cost, and quickness compensated for it. Last night, I was opening junk mail Money Savers and found their menu so we thought, we'd give this place a try. We were not disappointed. We ordered two entrees, large rice, and two appetizers. Our bill was only $33. Red curry was filled with vegtables and meat, and the Chicken Pad Thai wasn't too greasy. (although the noodles seemed a bit overcooked. They delivered their food within 30 minutes (bonus) They gave us some kind of pastry, but it's sitting in our refridge, with the leftovers. Will definitely order from here again.
Review Source:Holy crap! Â Thai on the Northwest Side? Â You know it! Â And it's good Thai too. Â I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. Â I'm giving Thai Pastry 2 an additional star for location alone.
The food was pretty awesome. Â I ordered tom kha soup, pad thai with tofu and moms ordered chicken curry noodles and mini egg rolls. Â The portions were huge, the service was fast, and the food was delicious (and cheap!).
Additional bonus: a little section with Thai pastries. Â Hence the name Thai Pastry.
Yay!
The food tasted great. Glad to see that the NW side of Chicago finally has a good Thai restaurant amidst all the chain stores and mall clutter in the area. But...
After eating at many Thai and asian restaurants over the years, never seen one that omits rice from an entree, it always comes with it. This place actually charges extra for rice that you have to buy to go with your meal. You've been warned. How do you eat curry WITHOUT rice?! That is like ordering a Fettuccine Alfredo without the pasta and paying extra just to get that pasta. What's up with that?
While ordering at the phone, I was saying the entree numbers posted on their website but they do not correspond with their menu number. So it was a bit frustrating.
The prices are a bit steep in comparison to other thai restaurants too. Â Add the rice charge then it gets more steep. That sorta innocent $9.95 meal turns $10.95 - not so good when I've seen cheaper. The nice perk was there was coconut custard, don't know if it was an accident or a gift but still prefer automatic rice with entree.
For the people in the area, it's nice for them to finally have a thai restaurant, it's too bad they have to pay extra for it.
Hurray! A good Thai place on the Northwest side. I'm so happy that I don't have to go far for yummy Thai food. They're a few other places that I have gone to in the area that aren't worth mentioning. This place is the best around.
The food is delicious. We had the spring rolls, Tom Yum Soup, Basil Chicken, Pad Thai and Cashew Chicken. We enjoyed everything, especially the soup. They have Mon-Friday dine in only lunch specials and they deliver.
What's a wonderful Thai restaurant near O' hare airport? Â We glad that found this place .
Very friendly staff. Love the feel and comfort like you are in Thailand for the moment.
We had baby egg rolls and Tom Yum Soup and  found it was so delicious !!  My friend had  Duck Salad and he loved it!!
Prices are cheapest I seen and very authentic. I even saw some people coming there just to order lunch to go.
I love this place and want to go back soon!!!!
