I love love love this place!
The burgers are juicy and the fries are great!!!
I even like the chili turkey and if you pour it over your fries and add some cheese...mmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm tasty, makes me do my happy dance every time...lol
The only thing about this place is if you are in a rush call ahead because they make your burger to order!!!
If I'm not mistaken you can't place an order after 6:30 no matter if you call in or walk in...but I will find out and update this review when I do!!!
You will never look at turkey burgers again after you have one of theirs...and that's the truth!!!
My friend suggested that we try this place when I told him I was craving a burger. He's been a number of times but this was my first experience.
It's reminiscent of a Wiener Circle, but without the verbal abuse. There's no seating so it really is all pick-ups only. We waited outside in the car for our food to be prepared. Let's just say I wouldn't want to be caught on that street alone after dark. I was also told that if you get there too close to the posted closing time, you won't get to place your order, homie.
Thanfully, we got there before getting burger-nazi'd ("No burger for you!"). My friend had his usual turkey burger which was to his liking. The veggie burger was great with all the fixins and the fries were abso-frickin-lutely fantastic. That was the biggest draw for me. Those are the kind of fries that cure hangovers and forge friendships. If those fries were a person, I'd probably kiss them on the mouth.
To sum it up, give it a try.
Good turkey burger, but I've had better unfortunately. Â I really wanted to LOVE this burger after hearing about it for years, but I think mine taste better. Â I loved the size, however, and the fries are delicious. They def give you a bang for you're buck but it doesn't leave me wanting more. Now Epic Burger and Fat Burger's turkey burger, on the other hand, make me do the running man in place!
Review Source:I'm only on here because for some strange reason, the number wasn't saved to my BlackBerry & I've been a That's A Burger customer since Day One! There's was the very first turkey burger I had ever had and if I could insure that it would be my last, I would. Yes, they are slow, but the burgers are hand formed and the fries are hand cut. They are honest and upfront about the wait. It is a pain to be craving a burger & they are just randomly closed. That is the only downside. You never know if or when it will happen. The owners are a married couple who are getting a lil up there in age who put out a great product so I guess they have the right to  take the time off if and when they need it. I'm on my way now to get a turkey burger and I can't wait to eat it. My bff is from NYC and every time, EVERY time she visits, she has to make a stop there. She swears she's never had a better burger.
Review Source:I love Turkey burgers and heard about this place before actually going. I heard they were extra slow, the establishment wasn't all that great and other negative things, but decided to go anyway...
I went on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a turkey burger. BEST DAMN BURGER EVER!!!! Shocked the crap out of me. Ok, so I waited for my burger about 25 minutes- the lady advised me of the wait. So I had to park up the street and around the corner-it was a nice day and I needed the walk. So they didn't have any condiments for the fries- I had some ketchup at home. (lol)
I'll tell you this seriously, I have been fortunate enough to have my turkey burger fetish satisfied with the establishments on the south side, but That's a Burger wins hands down! Now I realized that I must call my order in to avoid the wait and parking issues. Love the burger, period!
BEST TURKEY BURGER IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS!!! Hands down, they have everyone beat. I stopped eating beef and pork 7 years ago, and have always had a difficult time trying to find a good turkey burger. Most turkey burgers are nothing more than a seasoned frozen patty. Not here! Fresh ground meat, seasoned well, condiments off the chain, and the buns are outstanding. It was soooooooo good!!! I was so hungry that I ordered the turkey chilli as an appetizer (don't ask) and it was good to! I do prefer my chilli a little sweet (this was not) however, if you like semi sweet chilli, then this is top notch! Fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, etc.... Next time I will just bring a small pack of sugar to stir in. Also, they no longer serve the fries wrapped with the burger. I received a separate containers for my burger, and fries. The fries are not the best; however, the burger is so darn good you don't need any side items. YOU HAVE GOT TO GO HERE. Trust me!! I am the toughest food critic on the planet, but this place is awesome. Quench turkey burgers are nasty because it seems as if they put egg in the meat mixture, and no seasonings. Just turkey is o.k.; however, they are using some sort of filler that just does not cut it, but this place? NO FILLERS, PERFECT SEASONINGS, and it is a juicy burger. Lastly, it's reasonable!!! That burger was $5.00!! I would have gladly paid $8.00-$10.00 for it.
Review Source:Finger licking good!!! No seriously I don't know if it was butter or grease but my hands  were shining in all of 3 minutes because that's how long it took me to devour my turkey burger!!!!
I consider myself a turkey burger connoisseur in these here parts and I would have say  that was one of the best turkey burgers I've had.
You get your monies worth. They give you a huge burger..and they have a double and veggie burger that I may tryout. You can even add turkey bacon!!!!
I actually got my food pretty quick which was surprising because she told me 20 minutes initially.  1 down side is  they have NO SEATING  to help ease your wait time.  The cut fries were just OK....but that burger...whooooo weeee ..in the words of the terminator..I'll Be BACK!!!
The turkey burgers are excellent and generously sized. I've only ever had the cheeseburger and the turkey burger. The cheeseburger was also very good. The price of the burger includes fresh cut fries.
Each burger is prepared fresh while you wait. The wait averages 30 minutes, and yes there is plenty of unsavory activity going on in the area. But, the staff at TAB is friendly and efficient. Call ahead and place your order. It will take a few tries before you get through the line. This place is closed at 7:00 p.m. and they are not open on Sunday and Monday.
Negative stuff first. First off this place is open when the owners feels like opening. And they are opened from 11am-7pm, Monday - Saturday , whats up with that! They would make a killing if they stayed open a little bit later, PLUS I would go there more. Â Its one of the few good food spots on east 71st street. Secondly, calling your order in is a joke, either they dont answer the phone or its off the hook the times Ive called. Third, no chairs to sit on when waiting.
Ok, now about the food. Ive only tried the turkey burger, because everyone talked about it. The burger is made to order, huge and tasty. I had the onion rings too, they taste like they were from Aldi's lol. They give you a decent amount of fries with the burger, but they are wrapped with the burger. They should separate them. They have other items on the menu that looks to me good also. Â
I say try them, if they are open!!
This place makes really excellent burgers. Â They're reasonably priced and worth the wait. Â
The neighborhood might seem a little dodgy, but it's people coming to awesome places like this that helps dodgy neighborhoods develop!
The staff is nice and friendly, and helps you customize your burger. Â It's easy to walk right past the front door, though. Â (It's near the post office, in the string of shops across from Jeffery Plaza.) Â Burgers can take little as 15 minutes when there are no other customers, but over 30 minutes at peak times.
So what can I say. They make a great burger. It reminds me of the burgers I used to get from 'Charlies Blade and Spade' back in the 80's.
So anyway....I walk in the place and I see the familiar look of the average "hood" fast food shop. A 15 x 15 room with yellow walls and a red door leading to the cooking area on the other side of the bullet proof glass. You place your order through few small holes in the handmade sign covered window in front of you.
The menu consist of Turkey Burgers, Beef Burger, Chicken Burgers, and all of the other greasy spoon fare. (Polishes, chicken strips, tamales etc....)
I ordered the Cheeseburger with bacon. I was promptly told it would be a 30 min wait for my burger. I looked around at saw 3 other people in the place with me, I counted 2 call in orders taped to the side to the register, So then I wondered "Why so long for a freakin' burger?".
Then I saw the old gentleman (I guess he was) in the back hand forming every patty one by one. Then I saw the other guy back there furiously cutting potatoes for the fresh fries, and cutting onions for the burgers. At that moment I knew the wait would be worth it.
I then wandered the neighborhood for the next 25 minutes as I waited for my burger to be done.
Sure enough (to my surprise) my ticket number was called exactly 30mins to the moment I placed my order.
I found the burger, well seasoned, well cooked, and now well eaten.
My only complaint was that the bacon was not crispy. I can't stand medium well bacon on a burger.
All in all, the food was good, the service was efficient, and the wait was worth the food in the end. But I stress, if you're in a hurry, try somewhere else.
They make your burger when u order. So if you don't have time don't  go.They will not rush.I love the chicken burger, turkey burger and the cheese burger single or double.I'm not a big fan of their french fries. This place is the real deal. Some people may not like the price but i'm ok with a fresh burger made to order. IF YOU GO MAKE SURE YOU PARK ON A METER.IF YOU PARK IN FRONT OR SOMEWHERE NOT LEGAL YOU MAY GET A TICKET!THE POLICE RIDE AROUND THAT AREA HEAVY!!!
Review Source:This place makes lovely burgers from scratch. They're known for turkey burgers, but my only experience is with their hamburgers.
You can be guaranteed that they will not start making your burger until the moment you order it, and the meat is not frozen. That being said, you will wait fifteen minutes to over an hour, depending on the crowd. And there are no chairs. I think it's best to call your order in ahead of time to avoid waiting.
Any burger aficionado should try this place at least once, because these burgers are the real deal - prepared exactly as a burger should be. But I give it only three stars, because, while delicious, it's not the most amazing burger I've ever had. I'm spoiled on Kumas and huge diner burgers. These are almost reminiscent of a Steak-n-Shake - the way they are a bit thin and falling apart due to the hand made-ness. Still, though, it's very good.
The burger was WONDERFUL a hand made turkey cook to order , the only draw back is the WAIT  my wait was about 35 min for one burger but it was worth it, I agree with J.D review call first so the second time I called  and received  the same great burger and home made fries with no wait.
my other advice is to have a plan B because it is not always open.
It is a hard to find a GREAT homemade turkey burger in Chicago and That's A Burger does it for me! Â Now to forewarn those that have never visited....The wait can be ridiculously long (45 mins) and there is no seating, however just call in and go pick it up to eliminate all of that! Â Trust me it is worth it! Â The burgers are very generous in size and fries come with the order. Â The burgers are seasoned perfectly and I select swiss cheese to kick it up a notch from the traditional. Â I have tried the chicken burgers as well and those were DELICIOSO tambien. Â It is family owned and they open when they feel like it, but I guess the owners "got it like that" and their customers are faithful because there is a line of cars double parked as soon as they open. Â That's A Burger is "what's up!" Â I think I am going to get one today.....if they are open....phone first
Review Source:So many people had been raving about this place but unfortunately I was disappointed. The first time I went this place was randomly closed. There was no sign or reason given. It just wasn't open. In the middle of the day. On a weekday. Â
So the next time I went they were open. I had a Turkey Burger. All the burgers come with fries. My turkey burger was way too salty. There was a sign that said you can ask for no salt. Also the fries were soggy and gross. They actually wrap the fries up in the same wrapper as the burger which I'm sure increases the sogginess.
The place itself is small and unwelcoming. There is no place to sit while you wait 15 minutes to get your food. Everything is all bulletproofed out too. You know put your money in the little slot? Yell your order through the glass. lol It's interesting. Overall, I felt this place wasn't worth the hype. However, I am willing to give it another try. They have a very large menu so I'll be sure to try something else.
That's A Burger brings the love, you just gotta bring your own seat. This is a seriously sized and seriously delicious burger, so, please, DO NOT under any conditions plan on just walking, talking and eating this guy. The burger patties are handmade every morning with the love and tenderness typically reserved for nature documentaries when a mom panda is cleaning the baby pandas. Firm bun keeps the burger goodness locked in tight, and there are countless permutations to dare and amaze your taste buds. The travel time -by CTA, car, horse and buggy what-have-you-is gonna take a bit coming from anywhere on the North Side and, yes, the wait at TAB is LONG but entirely worth it.
