Went in around midnight on a Saturday with a guy friend. Being new to the area we walked in and went to the bar. There was a guy (not even lying) with his arm and one leg straddled around a blonde middle aged woman behind the bar. They were hugging and falling over some other guy who was w them BEHIND THE BAR.
I've never seen 4 drunk idiots behind the bar at any reputable establishment before.. weird. Anyways after waiting for 10 mins for someone.. anyone not too intoxicated to take our drink order there was a pretty cool blonde guy bartender who came and took our drink order. Drinks are regular prices $8 for long island, and $7 jack and coke. They were on the stiffer side.

They were so dead they closed way before 2 am.. and we felt awkward being the only few people left so we decided to leave as well.

I would have give this place no stars, because they made us feel super uncomfortable. Everyone was way older and drunk and the bartenders never asked if we wanted another drink. My friend and I are the exact crowd they need in this bar. I gave them 2 stars because of the pool tables and their nice flat screens.

It is a neighborhood dive bar, I just wish they had better customer service.

This place is kind of a dive like poop kind of smells bad. Not saying this place is bad... actually quite the contrary, its a decent dive bar with decent prices on drinks. This is actually my second time here for a cancer benefit/fundraiser which is actually quite fun.

One thing that is a slight drag is the if you are looking for munchies while at the bar, you have to order via a take-out service which the bar happily allows to be delivered to the join. Good for the bar because they can focus on being a bar and good for the customer so they at least can get some food. Its just that is can be slightly inconvenient.

    Overall 3 stars!

Not your usual Sports Bar/Dive Bar/Watering Hole

TB seems to struggle from a true identity, but perhaps that's what they are going for. I'm not sure and honestly don't care because every time I've been to listen to a friend's band play I've been quite pleased.

Pours tend to be strong, service is nice, There is lots of room both inside and out on their back patio, and they have a pretty good size stage for local bands to rock out to.

They have multiple flat screens playing various sports.

It was a charity fund raiser starring Sour Purge (Power Serge) that brought me here most recently. While these guys normally dress and play in the style of 80s Hair Bands on this evening they decided to flip the script and dress and play in the style of 90s pop which proved to be a lot of fun raising money for a great cause.

They had a pretty diverse crowd that ranged in age which was nice to see.

Everyone attending seemed to be in good spirits (pun intended!)

I guess my only gripe would be their lack of copious dedicated and close parking. I'm aware that Newton parking is plentiful, but for those that are disabled that is really far!

It's a bar in Costa Mesa.  A bar....That's it.  Charging a cover charge of $20 in a shithole neighborhood is comical.  I understand bars like to have cover charges when they have a live band, but c'mon.  It's like college bands for $20pp.  This isn't a neighborhood that should accept this nonsense.

3.5 stars for the Tiki Bar.  Some friends and I met up to watch a friend's band play at the Tiki Bar on a Friday night.  The place wasn't too crowded but there was a cover and it was still early.  The drinks are about $7 a piece and the bartender is generous with his pour.  The clientele is a mix of young and old.  There are pool tables and plenty of booth seating in the back.  They had the basketball games playing on the flat screens but as the bands took stage, the place became loud with music.  It's nice that they set up 2 large pitchers of self-serve ice water on the counter with some plastic cups for those that want to hydrate and not bother the bartenders.  Pretty cool little place.  There is barely any parking in the lot, but we found some down the street in a residential neighborhood.

I come here on wednesday's ... its a walking distance from my house but honestly i call it BEN WEDNESDAY'S.  thats the only reason i give this bar 5 stars.(The Bartender) Ben is dope once you get to know him .. he makes a bar like this who is rated so low worth it. he's one cool dude.... jus like the rest of us... i came in today ( wedneday january 31st ) played some pool with 3 other friends of mine and really enjoyed the time i was there.... A DJ  was there playing Reggae which i honestly thought was pretty dope... kept the ambience where it should be. Over all this place is cool ... I'm mos def coming back here every wednesday. BUT if a band plays that i like on a weekend and shit goes bad like the rest of the reviews here say then ill def not give it 5 stars like i did right now !

Nice and clean inside, smells good too (at least it did when I was there, like incense).
Huge stage area, smaller bar section, and basically no parking. Have fun with that.

(You can park at the burger joint across the street when they're closed.)

Yay for Gigi, super bartender! Always fun, very real, fast in service, and pleasant to talk to.
The decor of the place is a little odd and it's not stellar in its drinks or food, but it does the job. I'd check in once in awhile.

So GF and I decided to go check out The Iron Maidens (who are awesome!) here at the Tiki. After reading Yelp reviews, I was kinda second guessing this event, however we pushed on and went anyways.
We arrived just before 8 and as prior Yelp'rs said, there is very little parking at the event and many of the open spaces had cones in front of them. The place next door has several Tow away signs, I'm not going to allow the CTS to be towed, so we drove down to a side street (about 50 yards from the place) that allowed parking till 2am. I asked the guy at the door about the cones and he said "Band parking" hmmm ok, kinda makes sense.
I had called earlier asking about the cover cost and the guy told me $12ea, so when I went to the door I gave the guy $25, he looked at me and said $15ea. I told him that I had called earlier and was told $12, he grunted a little and said since it was before 8 he would let us in for $12 "but next time it'll be full price". So watch for price switching.
There was a band already playing and GF and I had the pick of the room for seating. We sat at the bar and people watched for awhile, Yes, lots of old 45+ (ok, me included) and then even older rockers (65+) along with a few creepy looking "low hanging fruit, bar scraping" old dudes (nearly passed out girls beware!), began slowly making their way in with a few 30ish peeps sprinkled in from time to time.
The one thing that sucked the life out of this night was GF and I were expecting 2 maybe 3 bands and then The Iron Maidens, sadly, this was not the case as band after band kept setting up totaling 6 before the Maidens even hit the stage at 12:30am. With the only exception of SnakeHead, who were actually pretty good, This may not have been so bad had the other bands not cranked the amps up so high as to drowned out their sound till it just blended into a mediocre garage band's guitar noise and gutteral spew. I swear there was one band that sounded the same on every song with nearly constant speed metal guitar riffs of the same notes over and over and over again.
By 12:00 the GF and I were all but ready to head home, but since we had already agonized through 4 hours of noise, decided to stay and see the Maidens. Then they had an equipment malfunction and we annoyingly sat glancing at each other and rolling our eyes for the next half hour.
Even though the Maidens were putting on a great show, the GF and I decided to leave after their 6th song, not because of the band, but because the Tiki bar's booking agents assault on our ears for the last 4 and a half hours was becoming just too much.
As for the bands low pay comment, I too don't know how the bar could pay all those bands a decent nights pay, because there were maybe 150 to 200 people and the bar girls weren't that busy at all.

Final thoughts on this place, If you want to just go to see the headliner, park on the side street, check the price at the door and don't show up till about 11:30 and you may have a good time.

will get two star because i can walk here.

I was here a Saturday at 5pm. It was quiet.  Creeper trailer trash types.. The bartender, the owners cousin, young and blond was the only redeeming factor... I hope she stays... The TVs are a great touch for a sports fan.

I am worried to go back at night because of the constant reports of violent crime in and outside of the bar...

I guess if you want mellow, dive bar feel come in... I will go back but not after 7pm, i like beers without ducking from fist's

MAJOR DOWNFALL No redeeming patio! I would love a nice patio

Don't believe the signs hanging outside! They say that they serve lunch until 6p.m. but you will be lucky to find the kitchen open at 2:45 p.m.  It is decent food but you had better call to see if there is a cook; and still be skeptical if they say there is.one!!!

WANNA PLAY A SHOW HERE? DON'T.

They change their prices (whenever they feel the need) at the door. They never pay bands. They don't give the bands guest lists. They don't even give bands drink tickets. I'll bet the cash-grab, asshole, limpdick owners of this plate won't change a thing. It's money in their pocket. Fuck 'em.

If you've never seen a Volcom shirt and are itchin' to catch a glimpse, this is your place. But when you do, stay there and away from me.

Just went to this place tonight.

First of all, parking sucks.  Carpool, or take a cab.  There's about 12 or so spots, one handicapped, which was taken when I got there.  If you're savvy enough, use a Google Map to find additional parking, but don't be an idiot.  Look for signs that discourage parking to avoid ticketing or towing.  I managed to park right next to the front door, with nothing on one side of me (no parking stall), just the entry way to the bar.

There IS an accessible bathroom stall.

I will honestly say that I am pleased with the location of the low bar spot for handicapped access.  It's dead center.  It's not in the corner, which if you've read my reviews in the past, I HATE that.

I didn't see any low tables, just high bar tables, but there weren't that many tables to begin with. I don't know if this place actually does serve food. I didn't see any during my visit, but according to Yelp pictures, there are.  A wheelchair user like myself can drink/eat in the bar, no problem and still be next to people on both sides.  A table would be nice, though.

Access, there's enough easy access between the front door and the dance floor, if you should have the guts or have accumulated enough liquid courage to do such thing. The dance floor is a good size.

I won't really give much of a review, otherwise, considering I went on Thanksgiving weekend.  The crowd was small, so not much of an atmosphere to comment on.  the drink service was good, but again, it was pretty dead there.

I've also read on Yelp reviews that there is a lot of police activity in this area.  I didn't see any cops on the side streets in my direction on the way home.  I guess I got lucky, or drove correctly. Not sure. Just beware.

They sponsor my Dodgeball League.  So they rock for that alone.  They have drink specials with my Dodgeball League and work with Agave Underground Tequila.  They have 2 pool tables, an outside area for beer pong, a U-shaped bar with TV screens, a stage for musical acts, some good beer like Stone and Guiness and I believe Sierra Nevada, and a LOBSTER TANK!  Yup, that's right, while you can go to a late-night Denny's or Norm's and use the Claw to grab a stuffed animal, at the Tiki Bar you grab and poke at Live Lobsters.  Yes, inhumane I admit.  But if you catch one, you can take it home and cook it.  Mine came out great.  There food's pretty average, but when you have a few beers in you, it totally hits the spot.  I'd like them to expand out on their beer to earn another star.  Overall, a cool bar where you don't expect one to be.  And its not to far from the Detroit Bar and Trader Joe's!

I come here every Wednesday after playing NLA Sports Dodgeball. The staff is nice and the food is good and they provide good specials for our league. They only serve pitchers of beer like Bud Light and Coors, so you gotta get the good stuff in pints only.

There's also a really cool claw machine game where you can hunt for live lobsters! It's like $2/try and if you catch one and the kitchen is still open, they'll cook it for you right there. Some even have an extra band on their claw that adds a steak! I've personally seen someone win one like 3 times over the course of a couple weeks.

They also have local bands playing here all the time.

There was one big faaaat dude sitting outside collecting Cover Charge for bands playing.  If it were not my coworker who was playing here plus another coworker who needed 2 get out and hang, I would NOT have come here.  They were horrible:  they had a lobster luck machine for people to fish out by pitching in $2.  If anyone was lucky, he/she may be able to fish out a lobster for $2----I think this is plain cruelty!!!!  Those lobsters need 2 b in better tanks than this one they had!!!

The only thing positive was the pool tables that they had----two pool tables.  My coworkers+I got to play one game of it.  (This was the only one good thing, so I am giving this review a "1" star.)  It would have gotten no star for charging us the $5/person cover charge!!!!

My coworker didn't think I was coming 2 watch the band----but....showed up to support the band.  I hated this bar.  I would not go back.

Back to my review.... Everything just seemed to mismatch. The decor, the music, one bartender in lingerie the other in bro-ho attire?? Hmmm....

Drinks weren't all that stiff but doesn't matter to me when I'm taking shots. Really shitty location, unless you have Zen Robbi count me out.

Popped in at the tail end of a very nice date with the boy.  We were craving some house music and thankfully, the dj delivered here.  There was zero cover, zero wait. The bartenders were extremely attentive and very nice and the crowd seemed quite lively.  This place is pretty big for a divey type of collegy bar.  They had beer pong out back, a pool table, a lobster claw machine (honestly pretty cool bc someone won a lobster while we were in there) and a small dance floor.  In talking with the dj as they were shutting down, he also alerted us to the fact that they offered free djing classes to teach people the basics up to advanced skills in djing.  Pretty cool. I'll have to make it a point to come back and learn how to scratch a record or two. ;)

Let me start off by saying - THIS IS NOT A TIKI BAR.

I was here as part of the band playing.. The owner,  we'll call him "K", is one of the rudest people I have met at a music venue. He was rude, from downright rude comments, to straight up ignoring me.  He really ruined the night.

There is nearly NO tiki-ness to this bar. With the exception of one palm-tree-trunk tiki by the front door, and a couple carved poles,  and a couple items that looks as if they were purchased at a discount store.

The bar seems decent, a couple cute bartenders (who seem to fear the owner).. though not a tiki mug or drink in sight. The closest thing I saw was screenprinted glasses from Seven Tiki Rum.
They supposedly serve food, but conveniently not on a saturday night. Though I saw the kitchen and I'm not sure I'd want to eat anything from it.

The sound guy was cool, very nice, and knew what he was doing. He was the ONLY saving grace to this place.

There is nearly no parking lot, absolutely silly for a place that holds live shows.

For live shows, wait till they play another venue.

If it's tiki you are looking for, you won't find it here.

    I sure won't bother again.

Holy crap this place is a dump.  I'm sorry Tiki Bar, but this place was SO ugly.  Its parking lot is surrounded by barbed wire (mmmk?  get a sense of the place?)... It's in an  industrial/business part of the neighborhood behind a bunch of ugly buildings.

Do not go here with your girlfriends or group of friends all dressed up ready for a night on the town.  You will be massively disappointed.

This place is soo ugly and you're more depressed with your LIfe after going here.

I mean, Goat Hill is technically not "nice" inside, but it's FUN!  This place is just somewhere you would stop off of Route 66 in the middle of America.  Ugh.

*Not trying to bash a classic OC spot, but damn, does this place need to get it together...

The Tiki Bar was around a loooong time ago, then shut it's doors. The location was also home to then "Rain," "The Rock," and now back to the Tiki Bar (again).

Went to check out a friend's band play last night. I would give the place 1 star, but the sound guy works his ass off to get the sound right, and the stage is nice. Lacking enough stage monitors for drums and bass to hear the rest of the band though.

From an aesthetic standpoint, the place is not my style. That's a nice way of saying I wouldn't be caught dead in this joint. The crowd, much like The Blue Cafe's crowd, seems like it's ever-changing (along with some local deadbeats) - basically the crowd that is there is usually there for a band that's playing, but will not return... just like me.

Bar service was okay, it was one guy basically hustling by himself to serve the entire bar. I also had to pay $5.00 to get in on a weeknight - the place was DEAD and it was local and unknown bands playing.

Beers on tap were $5 a pop, and usually I tip a couple bucks per beer, but only tipped $3 on 4 beers. You figure it out.

Also, there was this obnoxious drunk idiot (see video) that almost mowed over a guy in a wheelchair and was annoying everyone in the bar. He should've been 86'd. Instead they kept him drinking there, ruining the night for patrons, only to find out that his card was bogus from the start and he couldn't even pay his tab. Good work.

Here's a video of the psycho we met in the back patio that night: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DWk7sP5v3Hw0%26feature%3Drelated&s=7d5dff0ba6fde1d1f15c5cb48721b6350e4b289a07cac91b86f18c64f006ae11" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>

Not going here again, I don't care whose band is playing. If I would've known that it was at this location again, I would've bypassed before I showed. Yuck.

PS - If you're going to call yourself "The Tiki Bar," make sure it is one. From what I saw, the design, drink menu, and ambiance of the little Tiki Bar that is located inside of (Jewish Deli) "Benjie's" in Orange makes this place look like freeway trash... barbed wire and all. The only thing missing was the junkyard dog and rusted GM motors laying around, or hanging by chains.

File under: "And people ask me why I carry a cattle prod..."

    Hot for Bar Tender?

So I came here one afternoon for a buddy's birthday party. I've been hearing that the bartnder is hot the beer is cold, and it's the place to go. It's not my typical place that I would normally go, but it was good. The bartender was hot, the beer was cold, and we had a good time. They say that I have to go on a Friday to really experience the crowd because hotties go there as well. I'll let uou know. LOL!

My first ever 1 star rating goes to this amazingly asinine and obnoxious embarrassment of a bar.

So I came on a Sunday night to see the legendary world renowned Skatalites perform. All listings of the event showed a 5-7pm start time for bands, so I figured they would play around 8-9pm which is reasonable for a Sunday night. Upon getting to the bar, the bouncer said 10pm. Okay, later than I thought, but it would be definitely worth it.

I wait around, and the opening bands actually started at 7pm. Now I normally don't judge a bar based on the performance of the other acts if they are good enough to book a band I came to see... but the most of the other bands they booked that night were simply terrible. While I can't rag on them too much, one particular "act" just made be cringe. One single white guy on stage, doing fake beatboxing using loops with a microphone. Off beat, and off key. This went on for more than thirty minutes. I thought it was a joke, but it kept continuing. I think it is just an embarrassment for a venue to have something of such low caliber, not to mention opening for a remarkable band that has been around for 40+ years...

Not only that. This place is named "Tiki Bar," yet they do not serve tropical drinks of any kind, nor have much of a tropical decor inside. Blatantly false advertising, it would be like if a BBQ restaurant was only serving salad. However I guess, for what it's worth, they do have a large selection of beers on tap.

Service was inattentive, rude, and pushy.

Oh, and guess what time The Skatalites actually came on? MIDNIGHT. ON A SUNDAY. While I've been to midnight gigs on weekdays, they were advertised as such. This was scheduled to go on at 10pm. Or even 10:30pm the latest I was told. The worst part? They strictly cut them off at barely an hour. AND did not sound check until right before they played, were rude to the musicians, could not monitor them to save their lives (they kept pointing during show when they needed things turned up or down constantly). They did not have sufficient air flow of either air conditioning, fans, or doors opened.

I don't really complain about parking even though their lot is small, because it's easy to find street parking a block away. Also, the clientele for this bar? Guys that wear "I'm an ass" on their shirt and bad MMA shirts.

I will refuse to step place into this bar ever again.

Cool off the strip bar to relax and not have to deal with the crowd. Went there last night to celebrate a friends and my birthday and had a great time. The band was annoying though with the hard metal Rock they was playing but I guess if you into that then you wouldn't mind. The parking does suck. You will have to park next door or down the street since they only have about 10 parking spots up front.

This place sucked! It was neither festive  nor fun.

-Parking is basically non-exsistant.  There's like 10 spots.
-$5 bottled imports and $6 import drafts.
-Smoking patio that you can bring your drink out on.
-$5 cover on a random Tuesday with no namer bands? Lamer mclamerson.
    -Big stage
    -Concrete floor

I can't quite explain it, but this bar reminds me of high school. Like it wants to be cool but it's just not happening.  Decent spot to see a band though.  Lots of space to stand in front of the stage.

    2.5 stars.

I work walking distance from this bar and was hoping it would be bad ass--instead its just bad. There is a tiki in the building next door, the guy makes tiki art. Unfortunatly, this place was a wopping disapointmnet, the only thing tiki is in the name. If your goiing to be Tikibar then be tikitastic. The walls are white and black only the columns are tikied.

They also had a cover for a shitty band.

The bar reminded of a trucksrop bathroom that they hung a 70s painting in.

To the owners do some research on tiki stuff. Go overboard on the kitch! Conceptually thus should be a slam dunk, but sadly it is not.

pretty decent dive bar. came here on a tuesday for rockband night. no dress code, there isnt a cover charge, and parking isnt a big issue for a week night.

it's a really cool set up for Rockband nights - stage is set up with the game and tv and then there's a giant screen in the background so viewers can see the screen and scores. they have a pretty decent selection of songs to choose from and anyone with a band can head up there for a try. the particular night i went was poker hand night which meant scores that made the best 5-digit poker hand won a $50 bar tab.

drinks are decently priced (about $5 for a mixed drink). special shoutout to Dena for making quite the stiff drink which was greatly appreciated haha. Gary at the bar was a big help too with his shots and thanks to the Van Gogh coffee vodka people for the shots! it was delicious and i def recommend you giving a try if you're at the Tiki Bar. the place has lots of tvs to watch the game, a few pool tables, plenty of seating and a kitchen that stays open pretty much the whole night. def not a bad place for a chill evening.

Came here last night for the first time since the remodel. Parking can be a problem, so get there early. I was immediately turned off because of the $5 cover charge starting at 8PM...for a dive bar. I'm not a fan of paying covers, especially not for a ghost town. Bitched a litte and a friend got me in with no cover. Save.

Inside the bar is really nice (except for the dancefloor/stage, yet to be remodeled). You can still smell the new paint job and all the furniture is brand new. The bar is nice too, and right in the middle of the place, so seating wasn't a problem. Around 11 it started to fill up with people, so I'm guessing this place just has a later crowd.

It has plenty of big screen TVs, two pool tables, and a big dancefloor. $4 for a budlight on draft, $6 for a big glass of chardonnay, so pretty average prices for Huntington/Costa Mesa/Newport area.

I would definitely come back (before the cover starts!) and I'm interested to see where this place goes.

    Arrived here at about 7:30PM.

A pretty open space: two pool tables to the right of the door, internet juke box and lots of TVs around a U shaped bar. There are a few tables but the chairs are sorta "Ikea" (read uncomfortable and sort of "flimsy"). Lots of new TVs, the whole place has been redone. It still smells like paint and the dance floor is unfinished. Although the bathrooms are brand new and very clean, it still smells like a sewer line. Parking lot was small.

Beer on tap is cold, $4.00 for a Bud Light. Guinness was $5? $6? I wasn't paying by that point. ;) They do serve liquor and wine. I didn't get a chance to order food.

The stage is big and the bands were good. The fiddle player in Eddie Booze's band was cute. ;) They started charging cover ($5.00) at 8:00PM which was kind of a bust....good thing I got there "on time".

All in all, other than the long drive home, I'll be back.

Thank God i'm first to review and hopefully save you the awkward pain that I experienced last night.

So I know I shouldn't have expected much. First it was Club Rain, then the Tiki Bar and finally Club Roc. All of which were not amazing in the least. I guess it's my own fault for thinking that some sort of re-vamped version of the same iteration of a previous fail would be anything short of disappointment. I was disappointed to say the least.

The Mrs. and I were quite bored on an uneventful Friday night and decided to check out the new Tiki bar which just recently opened last Wednesday. Let me quote you my text message to a friend at 12:48a:

"Um. We're at the Tiki bar and it's like the most fucked up/acid trip high school party you could ever dream of."

    Enough said.

The crowd was either barely 21 or pushing 35 and they all had something to prove. In the first (and only) hour we were there we witnessed 4 altercations, starting at the front door upon entry.

Anyways, as you can tell, I was NOT a fan and will NOT be coming back. Some may dig this vibe but I'd rather get drunk at home and watch Cops.
