I think its cute the way they spelled tacos into ta koz. The spot is definitely hella small, its hella dark inside, they prefer natural lighting to light bulbs. The prices are reasonable. The tacos nothing to rave about, but its not the worst, my friends rave about the skirt steak taco and to me, its oky. Nothing fancy. So if ur in the tri taylor area and want a quick bite, stop in.
Review Source:It's all about consistency - I still love their tacos. Â So delicious and still a great value for what you get. Â Make sure you ask for items not listed on the menu. Â Currently they have fish tacos, sopa de fideo de pollo (chicken soup) and tamales - not on the menu - but available and super YUMMY!! Â Be in the know!
Love TaKoz!
This place is great! They have very nice and helpful people working there and the food is just great. I tried the other tacos places that have opened just down the block from them just because they were closer and that was a big mistake. TaKoz definitely has amazing steak tacos and their rice and beans are always delicious as well
Review Source:Nice little place. Very simple & straightforward menu, the two tacos I got were excellent & def had some flavor in them I could not put my finger on. I got the al pastor & the chicken. They come with 2 salsas, green & red. The red is tangy and nice but the green is mg favorite it had a nice hint of lime that is often overpowered in other green salsas. I always walked by this place & today I thought, what better way to compliment a salad than with 2 tacos?
There was some minor confusion, after I placed my order & was waiting a second employee came out & asked what I ordered & if I paid yet. Bear in mind I was the only patron at the time. Not a big deal but it makes me question their processes.
They have a good number of Mexican sodas including coca cola Mexican edition with real sugar. They also have a lot of pre packaged tamarind & horchata drinks. I need to eat here a few more times before I can be totally sold but so far so good.
This place has the recipe down for great quality mexican fast food. Â The portions are pretty large for the price, and like the other reviewers I would agree, it can definitely champion against the other more established meixdcan fast food joints anywhere in the city. Â Considering it has just recently opened, it has managed to get any rough patches free and clear. Â Tortas are the best, and the guac is pretty damn good without jipping you on portions. Â Definitely a do over again and again! Â Thanks for being in the taylor area Takoz, you can expect my repeat business!
Review Source:Best tacos on Taylor Street.  The steak and chicken are of the highest quality, and you can  taste the lime in the steak as they squeeze it on during the char-grill process.  Tostadas are exceptional and do not fall apart.  The burritos don't seem that big to me so I always ask for extra meat (charge for that).  They have fries if you ask for them - fresh cut potatoes.  Worth the wait.  I tend to eat here for lunch almost daily.  They will also make things for you that are not on the menu.  Family run business, and they tell me they are related to the family that operates Zacas Tacos.  Their char grilling recipe is very similar.
The only downside is it is very small, seating is limited. Â They get very busy very quickly. Â If you can grab a seat and it's not over 95 degrees outside, it's the perfect place to grab a quick high quality lunch. Â I actually get disappointed when it's too busy because there's really no place better than this in the area without getting in the car and driving away...
The new version of Takoz has some great dishes if you are willing to stray from the ordinary. Â The tostada's are delicious and inexpensive, they will make you up a Chiliquiles or Chorizo con Heuvos for about seven bucks if you ask (they are not on the menu). Â I like the large quesadilla on the skillet made corn tortilla. Â Everything is cooked well, its a great lunch option, the owners are very nice and try hard to please as well.
Review Source:My fellow Yelpers, if you're ever in Little Italy or the Illinois Medical District, this is THE Mexican place for you. Â The chicken burritos, tacos and steak tortas are fantastic. Â The ingredients are fresh and there are some nice gourmet touches as well...they squeeze fresh lime on their steak, the chicken is well marinated and flavorful, the salsas are made on site, the guacamole is fresh and top notch and they have homeade tortillas! Â
***NOTE*** please don't confuse Takoz with the taco joint a few doors down...the place down the street is not as good.
They are back and stronger than ever. The old Takoz from Taylor street has been reborn in a new location and a new taste of flavor.
I believe you are really going to love the prices at the new location as well as the flavorful morsels of Mexican fare. The spices in food that we all missed for almost a year has returned to take it spot amongst the ever rivaling Mexican cuisine that has landed on Taylor street in the last few years. With the closing of Joe's and other spots, it is a very good landing in its new renovated spot.
I think this time the restaurant has given itself a new life and a new outlook on what it considers to be REALLY GREAT MEXICAN FOOD,just how an abuela (grandma) would do in her own kitchen in off road site some-were in Mexico.
Thank you for coming back and giving us probably the best Nachos with cheese and meat Taylor Street has witnessed.
Burritos of charbroiled skirt steak rival the best ones on 26th street or in Pilsen. This time, the resurrection of a staple on Taylor is staying, and we are SO happy it has become the Phoenix in Little Italy.
