From the fresh baked bread down to my entree of housemade (daily) ravioli, my boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience! Â We came around 7:30 on a Friday evening and there were a few other diners in the restaurant. Â Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Â We started with the calamari which was lightly battered and fried and served with 2 delicious sauces. Â Excellent. Â The bread brought to our table was fresh and the olive oil for dipping had crushed herbs in it which made it so flavorful! Â Bonus, the have balsamic vinegar on the table as well which I added to my oil mixture.
We ordered a bottle of chardonnay and waited briefly for our salads. Â Best cesar I've had in quite some time! Â The dressing was spot on and even added uber fresh anchovies for $1. Â My boyfriend had ranch and was excellent as well.
Now on to the main event, the entrees! Â I had the ravioli special which was superb! Â I can't tell you how much freshness counts to me and they hit it each time! Â The filling was a herbed cheese, of which they have their own herb/flower garden out back, and the pasta was decadent! Â My boyfriend had a shrimp penne and it was also fresh and delicious!
I ran across them the next day at the farmer's market's opening day. Â They had a chef preparing a caprese sandwich and she was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Â I tasted it, and it as well was phenomenal! Â It means so much to me that they also take part in the community by doing the chef demonstrations and attending the farmer's market. Â Not to mention having their own garden!
Bravo, Tre Bicchieri! Â You are my new favorite!
The atmosphere and the food were good. My wife and I ordered the "lamb lollipops" appetizer - two of them were amazing, the other one was almost raw. I know that lamb is supposed to be pretty rare, but that last rib was so much more rare than the other two that I mentioned it to the waitress. She just said they were supposed to be rare. I asked her why they weren't consistent, and she said she' ask the chef. There was no follow up from the waitress.
Our meals were pretty good and reasonably portioned. My wife had a chicken tortellini, and I ordered tilapia with risotto. Meals come with a salad or soup, and the staff keeps you stocked on bread.
Food: 4 stars
Service: 3 stars
We stumbled upon tre bicchieri (three glasses) with the only condition being that we not eat at a chain. Lunch, which was a turkey club sandwich along with roasted red pepper soup, was very good. By that I mean it was a fantastic sandwich really.
The service was just a tad off, but she was trying and sincere and this is a down-home place so I don't mind a bit.
the service was alright, there's definitely room for improvement. however, their food were awful both times i went.
maybe because i ordered seafood both times and seafood in indiana is just not that fresh.
but my second time, i got an upset stomach after eating there. not likely to return.
I am editing my first review, why? Consistency and great service is not done by accident here. I live about 120 miles from Tre Bicchieri and the first time we ate there, we happened to find it by chance on our way to Chicago (read our first review). This time we planned our trip to the area with the restaurant as one of the "must stop" destinations. We were as impressed as our first experience. We knew that we made the right choice as indicated by the amount of customers enjoying their lunch inside and outside (patio) of the restaurant. The ability to produce a solid customer service coupled with great ambiance and astonishing delicious food is not done by chance at Tre Bicchieri. I just returned from Italy a month earlier and the food at this restaurant is as good as the one I tasted there - Tre Biccheri's food is as authentic and the staff is very friendly. I cannot wait to return, next time I plan on bringing some of my friends from Kentucky to enjoy this little germ in Columbus. I only wish that we could bottle their formula of great food, great service, great atmosphere and bring it closer to where I live. As a friend of mine says "...if I could bottle this, I would wear it as a perfume". I will definitely return over and over again. La buona cucina! Feb 21, 2011 (First review): Simply amazing - on our way to Chicago we did a search for Italian food near Columbus, IN - Tre-Bicchieri came up as one of the results and decided to give it a try. Having lived in Europe for over 20 years and traveled to Italy, I will say that Tre-Bicchieri hit it out of the park! The ambiance was great and the staff was very friendly, but the food speaks for itself - it was simply amazing. Portions were the right size and everything tasted freshly made. In my opinion this is one of the top three restaurants that I have ever visited as far as food quality goes. Will definitely travel from Louisville, KY to Columbus, IN to re-visit in the near future and will bring some friends. It was one of the highlights of our trip - thanks!
Review Source:I've been here 4 times now, but only managed to eat 3 times. Why? The first time we were told to have a seat on the patio but then were ignored for 20 minutes until we left.
For some reason, this charming little restaurant is always ALWAYS seeming understaffed. It leaves me wondering...why don't they hire one more person? Hire someone to bus the tables so the hostess and bartender don't have to do it? So people aren't left waiting in the doorway? We arrived at 6:30 on a Thursday and waited about 10 minutes until a table was cleared for us (3 empty tables, none clean). We then waited ANOTHER 10 minutes with empty glasses until water arrived. Then we waited for our waitress. This has only NOT happened once out of the 3 times.
Our order was taken and although the food took a little while and they ran out of one of the entrees we'd ordered, everything was delicious. I had seafood manicotti (fantastic, shrimp, actual crab $15), one companion ordered "build your own" pasta which is like $7, and the other 2 had to split the salmon ($16) because there was only one left. Everything was fresh, hot, and tasted great. I really enjoyed my broccoli soup and the salads were fresh and colorful. The soft bread is very good dipped in the herbed olive oil and balsamic vinegar which is at each table.
The waitress never came back to our table after we received our food and we had to ask someone else to bring our check. When the waitress came back, she only had 3 of our 4 checks. We had to AGAIN ask someone else to find her so we could get the 4th check. WHAT???
I'm sure I'll go back because I love the food and the art and the art deco light fixtures. BUT I really wish I didn't leave a little disappointed each time.
It is a cozy place with outdoor dining and abstract, for-sale art work on the wall. Â Jordan had the cream of asparagus soup which was so smooth and delicious and followed it up with Fettuccine Alfredo. Â I had the Caesar salad and Chicken Piccata, which was uniquely served over gnocchi. They have some very original dishes and I would not mind returning if I'm ever again in Columbus, IN.
Review Source:Had an amazing grilled chicken sandwich today, was maybe the best I have ever had. The mustard was perfect and added some pop to the sandwich. Â Our sever was extremely friendly and always had a smile on her face and the management staff was very friendly and helped out since it was pretty packed in there.
I will be going there again soon in the near future
This is a lovely little restaurant downtown. There is outdoor dining on warmer nights. The staff are very nice and answered all my questions. I ordered the Sea Scallops, not something I normally do because most places can't prepare them well. These are topped with vanilla beurre blanc, served with butternut squash risotto and tomato chutney. The serving was generous without being too much. The restaurant has a well trained chef who has studied in France. This is his original creation and I was very impressed. I would not change anything about this dish. I had an Argentine white wine, very nice. All entrees served with House, Caesar or cup of soup. Slices of bread are to munch on while you wait. The menu is not overly large which I like. This is an Italian restaurant and owned locally. They are closed on Sundays and they have a web-site. They have lunch M-F. I was very pleased with all aspects of this establishment, except one thing, and it has nothing to do with the food. Not a big fan of the art work, mixed with photos, but if that is the worst thing, then don't let that stop you from trying this establisment. Â Oh, and Tre Bicchieri means, "Three Glasses."
Review Source:Loved the food, the bread, the 3-way liquor, the staff and the decor. This is a great family owned and operated establishment in a great location. Romantic Italian for a great date. Be patient with service and don't rush your experience. If you want fast Italian, there's a fazoli's a few miles away.
Review Source:My husband and I were excited to try Tre Bicchieri as it looked like a quaint restaurant. Â The menu on the window looked like it had variety of choices and it was not too crowded as we were only passing through Columbus for dinner. Â The beginning started out good with some yummy french bread, but it kind of went down from there. Â I had soup and squash salad and my husband had eggplant parm with Caesar salad. Â It was okay food but we had to wait a very long time for the meal. Â The waitress made it sound like things were included for free but we ended up being charged for (the caesar and anchovies). Â The menu descriptions sounded better than the meal, but overall the food was not bad. Â However, throw everything together (extra charges, wait time, food) I probably would not go back.
Review Source:I was peculiarly dissapointed with this restaurant. Â Perhaps I had my hopes too high. Â I didn't think that making a reservation would be an issue, but it was. Â I didn't think that getting our food in less than 30 minutes after ordering would be an issue, but it was. Â And I didn't think that getting the check in less than 20 minutes after requesting it would be an issue, but it was. Â It was the holiday season and perhaps our waiter was a college hire with little experience so I'm willing to give another chance. Â That said, this establishment has very little room, perhaps big enough for 50 patrons, max. Â I felt as if I was on an elementary school bus because of the way the tables were arranged. Â Above and beyond all the food was only mediocre. Â I was thoroughly dissapointed with the experience overall.
