    Awesome tapas
    - Service - 5 (Seated right away, attentive staff, friendly with suggestions)
    - Ambiance - 3 (Small restaurant, awkward seating, weird decor)
    - Baked goat cheese - 3 (Not enough cheese to tomato sauce, lacked bold flavor)
    - Jalapeno gnocchi - 4 (Loved the sauce! Others would have given this a 5)
    - Pork with medallions - 3 (Tender but simple, tarty sauce)
    - Bacon wrapped dates - 5 (Must try!!)
    - Bleu cheese crusted steak - 5 (One of our faves)
    - Sangria light and not enough fruit.

This has been a place I wanted to try since I saw something about it in the Red Eye when I first moved to Chicago. I now live a few blocks away. My parents were in town and we decided to finally check it out. We were big fans of the mosaic wall - not so much fans of the little head dolls on the opposite wall. Everyone else had the mango sangria which they seemed to enjoy. Jalapeno Gnocchi, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Short Rib, and Mac and Cheese were all delicious. My girlfriend and I will definitely be stopping by again.

This is by far our favorite restaurant in Chicago. My wife go for our date nights, when guests come in town, or special events. It's cozy, comfortable, and the owners are there every night - just super friendly and appreciative of your business.

The sangria is the best in Chicago. Couple favorites dishes are the jalapeño gnocchi, spicy seared shrimp, chicken meatballs, Mac and cheese, black bean cakes, and the banana dessert.

If you've never been, make it the top item on your to do list. Best restaurant in Chicago.

This tapas bar has a nice selection of wine and beer. The atmosphere is a little dark, which makes it feel classy and romantic. Two of us split three items and we only needed two. The stuffed chicken breast and the jalapeno gnocchi were our favorites. There was no wait when we arrived around 7 or so, but some larger parties were waiting when we left. There were definitely seats available at the bar, so 2 or 3 people to have easily sat immediately.

This was my first time at Twist A Tapas Café. I came here with my girlfriend and another couple. Basically you order bunch of small dishes. At first I didn't know what to think of that. We sat down, our waitress was very pleasant and the atmosphere was good too. Although I thought the tables were a bit too close to others, oh well, just thought I would point it out. We were served water, and we initially ordered a pitcher of sangria. I didn't have any, but there were no complaints.

We each picked 1-2 tapas. Me and my girl had Mac and Cheese a la Twist, Lobster Ravioli and chicken quesadilla. I LOVED the lobster ravioli, it was absolutely my favorite. All four of us agreed that we loved the mac and cheese a la twist.

The other two people in our party ordered stuffed mushrooms and a couple other dishes I can't quite remember now, but we all left in a good mood, and we were happy we made the decision to try Twist A Tapas Café. I remember questioning whether or not I would get full from what seemed like small tapas, or appetizers, but when we were done I was COMPLETELY satisfied.

I didn't witness any bad service at all, as opposed to other reviewers to this establishment. I thought everything was smooth, no snarky comments, rudeness or anything that I observed; I think the same can be said for the other people I came with.

I have been thinking about Twist A Tapas Café ever since leaving, and I definitely will be going back! I would encourage everyone to try this place, it is amazing.

Great experience! The food was some of my favorite tapas that I have had in the city. Sangria was also very good, not my favorite, but still very good.

The place is very small, so plan on maybe waiting a little bit for a table. There are tons of bars in the area that you can go sit and have a drink while you wait for your table. They will call you when your table is ready.  Worth it though.

We sat at the bar and ordered tapas as we went. Everything came out fast and was SO good. Definitely want to go back soon.

I think this might be my new favorite tapas place in the city!  It's pretty small and my table of two was crammed in between other tables maybe an inch away, but hey...it was cozy.  They had mojitos on the specials menu and they were so strong, definitely my kind of mojito.  Now for tapas:

Bacon wrapped dates - the best I've had in the city, they were so good, not overcooked, and were in this really great sauce that added to the flavor.  I  would go back for these alone.

We also ordered potatas bravas, some sort of mushroom gnocchi on the specials menu, and seared ahi tuna - all really really good.

For dessert we had the carmelized banana which was also pretty much amazing.  The entire menu looks really great and I definitely plan to go back to try some more of their twisted tapas.

I think the only thing that might keep me from coming here is that it's in Wrigley, and the chances of me also being in Wrigley are pretty slim.

So I was really excited about coming to this place.  It was a Saturday night and we had driven 40 minutes into the city for tapas. After looking for parking and walking in the rain we had arrived at the restaurant at 10:14pm they close at 11pm. Once we arrived they had stated they had called last call and wouldn't seat us. They didn't even apologize we would have definitely finished our meal before 11pm.  I've worked at tons of restaurants before none had last call over 45min to close especially with plenty of customers in the dinning room.  Needless to say we won't be back.

I went to Twist for the first time, it was one of those places I had been meaning to try for the longest time.  I was pleasantly surprised by the food!  Little did I know that the name Twist applied to their food as well, they are a Tapas Restaurant and offer all the traditional tapas offerings, but then they have a whole section of the menu that has non-traditional tapas, 'Tapas with a Twist.'

We tried a variety of different items, the jalapeño gnocchi was delcious and the steak kabob and the stuffed chicken were cooked to perfection.  My favorite thing had to be the bacon wrapped dates. I get these at every tapas restaurant I go to and sometime the date tends to be large and overpowering, but at Twist you got more bacon and a little less date which worked for me.  One other thing to mention is the sauce on the bacon wrapped dates, it was delicious! It almost tasted like apple butter which might sound odd, but to me it was lick your plate good.  They also give you lots of the sauce so we used the bread they gave us to get as much of the sauce as possible.

When dining at a tapas restaurant you have to compromise with the people at your table so as much as I wanted the Mac n cheese, one of my friends said she had had it before and it wasn't good so we decided against it. I'm sad we did because the table next to us ordered it and if you gauge how good a dish is by how it looks and how delicious it smells (it smelled amazing!!)then we should have given it a shot. Guess I will just have to go back!

Everything else was good, the service, the Malbec and it was nice and warm on a very cold night in Chicago!

Went here with my boyfriend on his last night in town - we wanted a nice meal close to my apartment, and the options were a bit scarce.  We had pretty average expectations and were really pleasantly surprised!

It's a small restaurant, but we managed to walk in and get a table on a Friday evening, though just barely - people started lining up and waiting for tables after we arrived.  The wine list is small and inexpensive, but we had an enjoyable bottle of Spanish red.

Our friendly waitress said that the small plates came in various sizes, so it was hard to say exactly how many dishes to order - she recommended we start with two each.  We had the jumbo sea scallops on a bed of spinach, some wild boar (from the specials menu), the much-lauded jalapeno gnocchi, the grilled asparagus with sesame vinaigrette, and I think that's all, if we had something else, it was on the specials menu and I can't remember it.

Everything was better than we expected it to be!  Jalapeno gnocchi wasn't really that spicy, but fluffy and in a delicious creamy sauce.  The scallops were really perfectly cooked.  The wild boar was rich and tender, and the asparagus was really the only thing that didn't make us go - wow!  It was perfectly fine, but not a stunner.  The menu descriptions don't really do this place justice.

They did space out the dishes to some extent, we got a little overwhelmed at the end, but they did bring them out one at a time which I liked.  Don't bother taking one bite of bread from the basket - it isn't fresh or special and will just fill you up before you get to the goods.

We ended with caramelized bananas, and then we were STUFFED.  The portions here are larger than most Spanish tapas restaurants, so you get more bang for your buck.  I feel like this place is sort of a hidden gem - a stylish, affordable restaurant where pretty much anything on the menu will be great, but it's not super well-known.  I think it's a great choice for a date night in Wrigleyville - and there aren't many other choices!

Randomly tucked away in Wrigleyville, this place is a go-to for our group of friends after a long day of festivities up there. Fast, great portions for sharing and lively atmosphere. The mac and cheese, chicken and beef skewers, lobster ravioli, bacon wrapped dates and baked goat cheese are all our go-tos. Don't be afraid to try just because of the location!

Affordable and delicious tapas in a cozy environment.  We loved the bacon wrapped dates and the baked goat cheese.  The $25 pitcher of red sangria we ordered was also very good.  We will definitely be back!

-With our check, they also gave us a coupon to use for next time that will give us a tapa for free after purchasing 3.  Not a bad deal!

Twist is a pretty good place for tapas, though not necessarily of the Spanish variety. If you can get one of the precious tables in the raised section in the front, count yourself lucky. The back area looks pretty cramped. There are some cool fishy decorations made from bottle caps. Tried tapas like a stacked caprese salad, beef skewer with horseradish, and wild boar. I think our waitress was disappointed that we did not order more food, oh well. If we did, the choices probably would have been tasty too.

the tapas here were just ok, we ordered

    jalapeno gnocchi - ok
    mini crabcakes
    seared ahi tuna
    shrimp & scallops
    mac & cheese
    mini lobster tails
    corn cake with braised beef

everything was ok, but they don't taste or look spanish? maybe they are supposed to be american tapas?

    A service and sangria review.

This is not a good place for large parties, definitely not.

Long story short, owner yelled at our party (out to celebrate a friend's birthday) because two more people showed up after we had all been seated and asked people at the table next to us whether they were leaving (the people were putting on coats/scarves already). Owner claims, "This is a restaurant, not a bar!" and continues to be rude throughout the night and yells across restaurant, etc. While I can understand frustration with customers not following restaurant rules, I do not understand the way in which she handled the situation. Judging from other reviews, this type of behavior happens very often.

Had it been my birthday being celebrated, I would have elected to get up and leave right then and there. It was my first time at Twist and will be my last.

I did not eat here, but did drink the ridiculously overpriced 25$-a-pitcher so-so sangria (red).

I went here and we were able to sample A LOT of the items.  I pretty much really enjoyed them all.  We also had the sangria.  I say go here.  You are likely going to be happy with whatever you order.  Lots of flavor on a little plate.

A buddy from my job told me about this place so I had to check it out. Man was I impressed!  One of the best tapas spot in Chicago.  Average tapas portion but the fusion of the food is unbelievable.  The dates wrapped in bacon over a carmel sauce....to die for! Would've gave a true five star but the seating and wait time will was challenge.  Get there early.

Mouthwatering Tapas! This place is so delicious. Super busy on weekend nights! Come early or come on a off night like a Monday! Sangria is really good though it is a bit pricey for the pitcher! Prices for tapas are reasonable and worth it!

    Must try:
*Crabmeat turnovers: my favorite tapas at Twist! Soo delish! They are wrapped in a phyllo dough that practically melts in your mouth.
*Lobster Ravioli- Excellent! The sauce the ravs are in is really good and there are sun dried tomatoes in it which makes it even better!
    *Caprese Salad- Light and tasty!
    *Grilled Calamari- Yum!
*Spicy Potatoes- Soo good and the sauce that comes with the potatoes is divine!
*Baked goat cheese- Bread and cheese I mean really how can you go wrong! Scrumptious!
    * Spicy Shrimp- well seasoned!

I didn't really like the fish tacos

I do not eat red meat but my friends who do, say the dates wrapped in bacon and beef skewers were excellent!

Have been here a few times and love it! They have outside seating which is great for a nice day!

Nice location, quite place and good tapas.  I would stay away from the more contemporary tapas as they weren't as good as the description made them sound.  The prices for the sangria carafe and tapas were reasonable and the service was fine.  I would go again as decent tapas are hard to find in this part of the city.

This place has a mix of conventional and less conventional tapas. Plenty of seafood, meat and vegetarian choices as well - something for everyone.  Very good sangria (not watered down) and friendly, quick service. Nice location with wide open windows and some outdoor seating.

I liked the grilled calamari and octopus a lot. The escargot on toast were not my thing due to the super salty cheese like mixture they came in. Otherwise all the food was very good.

Came here a while ago, and now I couldn't decide between giving them 3 stars and 4 stars and since I'm in a good mood, they get that extra star from me JUST for having an interesting name of a cafe, very catchy and memorable.

The food was pretty good, what I do like is that they have unique tapas and standard ones, you can have the potatas bravas and your bacon wrapped dates, but you can also have these unique and exciting "twisted" tapas such as mac and cheese and lobster ravioli which you don't normally find in Spain or authentic tapas places, but that's kind of convenient if you're here with a group of friends and some people aren't the biggest fan of squid and bacon wrapped dates, they could always get the tasty and comforting mac n' cheese. I remember the sangria being pretty tasty, I believe we had the red and everything was pretty good, nothing that really sticks out in my head, but re-looking at the menu, the prices are very reasonable and you get to be in a trendy place (very colorful decor) in a trendy area, so definitely worth seeing!!

I would come back, but not until I experience all the other restaurants I have on my bookmarks but my only complaint is the place is kinda small, so come earlier than dinner rush to get a good spot.

We had a nice light dinner here on the sidewalk. The sangria is a bit on the pricey side at $25/liter, but it did the trick. The patatas bravas, crab cakes, and paella were all fantastic.

The server was very pleasant and attentive, without rushing us to free up a table outside. Nobody expects to have a quiet dinner when eating outside, but one thing to watch out for is how loud it gets with the trains going by. Didn't bother us, but something to keep in mind when considering the sidewalk dining.

The food is 5 stars, no doubt.  As I mentioned in my previous review, the service/attitude is lacking, but this didn't deter us from eating there.  Now I can safely say the service/customer experience is worth 1 star max and we will not be returning.

It seems like every time we go to Twist, we experience some sort of rude encounter with someone who works there.  We may be asking for a different table, questioning something on the menu, or some other normal customer question, and the reaction we get from the server/hostess/owner/etc seems to always have a rude undertone.  On our last visit,  we actually overheard the hostess talking sh*t about us near the cash register.  This was the last straw.  Not only was she rude at the beginning of the meal, but had to audacity to talk negatively about us close enough for us to overhear.   It took everything in my power to stop my wife from going off on her in front of the whole restaurant.  This is something no one should have to deal with when eating out.

We love the food so much, but it has gotten to the point where I would rather not give them my money.  I would rather go somewhere that may not have as good of dishes, but where the service will treat me and my wife with respect.  Somewhere where we can simply have dinner and not be talked down to.  Sorry Twist, you have lost two regular customers.

I usually don't give 5 starts, but I love this place.  I always try new things on the menu, and I'm always happy,,,,,except the bacon wrapped dates, those I gotta get every time. Service is great.

My one issue is with the size, it's too small for how good it is.  I try to go as it opens for the evening, and for the most part it's packed before we finish our meal.

Well, they tell you it will be 30 minutes wait for a table (they don't take reservations)  and then the wait is more like 50 minutes.  Then the six-top by the door will scream at the top of their lungs, but none of the staff will ask them to keep it down, despite the glares from the other tables.  Finally, the fish tacos make your girlfriend sick.  Well played, Twist. We won't be back.

PS-  DON'T order the fish tacos!

This is one of my favorite tapas places. I love that you won't break the bank when you go here, yet the quality is great. Must have the baked goat cheese and shrimp right at the beginning. Great for dipping. And you can't forget the sangria.

Small place and they don't take reservations. Though I have been there numerous times and never had to wait.

My friend and I started off with the seasonal sangria which for some reason I just just can't remember. Here are the tapas we had:

    House Salad-Pretty good
    Fish Tacos-alright
    Black Bean Cakes-Good
    Baked Goat Cheese-Pretty good
Grilled Shrimp- little bit on the over cooked side but still good.
Bourginon Beef- PFT! (plastic fork tender)

Had the chance to eat here last night and it was quite delicious!

One tip, they don't take reservations and are on the small side.  We got there around 6PM which worked our perfectly. After we were seated there was an endless wait for a table.

It's tapas and reasonably priced.  A couple favorites: lobster stuffed ravioli, waygu beef short rib and the spicy potatoes. I wasn't wild about the gnocchi or the mac and cheese but others at the table enjoyed them.

    Service was friendly and quick.

I've been to most of the tapas restaurants in Chicago, and this place ranks among the best! My wife and I have been coming here for over 2 years, and the food is consistently excellent. Some of our favorites are:

the beef skewer (great horseradish sauce and meat is always perfectly done...thoughtfully paired with red onion relish)
pumpkin ravioli (only seasonal but the lobster ravioli is great, too.)
spicy potatoes (amazing sauce! the same sauce also comes with the chicken skewer!)
    seared spicy shrimp (awesome)
caramelized banana (with caramel sauce, walnuts and ice cream...save room for this dessert!)

The wine list isn't huge, but there are some great selections on it. I can tell that a lot of thought was put into this menu, overall. The service has always been good here, too. It can get busy (for reasons which will become obvious once you've eaten here), and they do not take reservations. It's never too long of a wait, though, and we often get seated right away. Bottom line: delicious tapas, excellent wine, great energy.

    Highly recommended!

Creative small plates menu but weak (in flavour and alcohol) sangria = a two star review.
Its obviously not that simple though.

The food is creative but only reasonably executed. A lot of the hits were marred by overpowering sauces.
I can't say their were any real misses though- nothing unpleasant, just...average.

It probably didn't help that it was 'date night' when I went there with my husband.. the decor was fine inside, but we sat outside as the weather was still pleasant, so we were corralled into a small patio and could hear everyone else conversations better than our own.

The staff timed the plating of each dish very well though, I must admit.

I wouldn't rule this place out completely, but there are many places to try first before my return.

If you love Cafe Ba Ba Reeba, then you'll be thoroughly disappointed with this place. I expected great things after seeing 4 stars on Yelp in addition to stellar reviews. My boyfriend and I came around 6:15 on a Friday and luckily, avoided the dinner time rush. I didn't expect this restaurant to be cramped and was a bit surprised that the tables were more than comfortably spaced apart; I felt like I was at a speed dating event and could hear every detail of the neighboring conversations. The waitresses are friendly, though.

Onto the oh-not-so-great food. I'm a huge fan of bacon wrapped dates, however, what arrived was unexpected. The bacon was overly cooked to the point where they were burnt and they were drowning in an unnecessary gravy like texture. I also ordered the potato omelette, which looked promising, but tasted bland. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish and a pork loin dish. I only sampled the pork, which was good. Oh, and the sangria was eh. It was a bit too tangy and tasted odd.

Would I ever come back? Definitely not. I'd stick with Cafe Ba Ba Reeba for quality tapas and sangria.

    Oh man- Twist is delicious!!

I started off with sangria- super sweet, which I think I read somewhere. Worked for me (I'm not always a huge sangria fan), and was fairly strong!

We started with the jalapeño gnocchi. Get it. So delicious. I could've eaten 3 plates of it!!

We also got the mac and cheese, baked goat cheese, and fish tacos. Super good. 4 plates was enough for us, though I'd love to come with a big group and be able to sample even more things. The tuna cannoli and lobster ravioli will be next!

For dessert we had the poached pear. YUM. I would've loved to try the flan too, but sadly they were out! Can't wait get it next time!

    (+)
    - gluten free menu
    - the service was upbeat, and they let me try the sangria before ordering it.
    - like the reviewer below me, I went in hungry and wanted to try at least 10 items from the menu!
    - the tapas were decent overall.

    (-)
    - the sangria was icky-sweet
    - The calamari was not only overly chewy, but was not in fact squid. It was octopus.
    - The bacon wrapped dates were resting in a sweet gravy. So unnecessary. Why tamper with perfection?
    - The fun ambiance was compromised by at least 2 distinct tables of raucous, profanity-spewing Wrigleyville types. Frequent wincing ensued. If you are going to create noise pollution that extends restaurant-wide, consider picking up the tab for the other diners. Seriously.

I think it was fine if you have not-that-high tapas-standards, don't mind waiting a bit and want a let's-get-wasted-man atmosphere.

It is rare that I want to try EVERYTHING on a menu, but TWIST is one of the few.

Even with so much to choose from, I wanted to try it all.  Jalapeno Gnocchi is a must, Wild Boar taco are great, and there are plenty more recommendations than I could list.

Get there early if you don't want to wait, they don't take reservations, it takes about 20 minutes for the place to go from empty to packed!

It took the engagement of my sister in law for me to finally come here.
(for clarity purposes: she did NOT get engaged at Twist. That would be cute, maybe - but also pretty lame. Right?!? Unless you work there and this is the only way for your fiancé to reach you. Which would be sad, but understandable. I guess.).

So family dinner - sans the parents. I liked it and sharing tapas to chit-chat about wedding plans (non-existent for the time being but oh well) was just about perfect. Our party of 5 didn't have to wait, we ordered wine and got busy on the menu. Oh - and also gazed at the ring, of course. A must, ain't it?

Going out in this part of town is never a feast for me. I mean...it's loud, expensive, pretentious, loud, douche-baggy, impossible to park, loud and just not my scene.
But what a delightful surprise Twist was. Everything we tried was really tasty, perfectly executed, had its own special touch and the value was, in my books, excellent.

    Here's the rundown:
    - grilled asparagus with sesame vinaigrette B
    - lightly battered eggplant with marinara and goat cheese B+
    - mac and cheese a la twist A
    - corn cake with braised beef, tomatoes, onions, feta and chipotle mayo A+
    - pork medallions in a red wine sauce with potatoes, pears, onions A
    - baked goat cheese B
    - bacon wrapped dates - DUH - A+
    - two specials: another beef dish, rather on the dry side B - and a shrimp/scallop creamy preparation that didn't wow me either B.

There's mountains of bread to soak up all the delicious sauces, especially the red pepper nectar that bathes the dates and that is most unusual. They won't tell you what's in there but it's unlike anything you've ever had with 'datiles con tocino' anywhere in Chicago - and for me, anywhere period.

Everyone was too full for dessert. That was a shame because I had left some room for a touch of sweet.
Dammit. Time for my stomach to go on strike or something. Show a little Frenchness.
I dunno, dude. But really - the gluttony has to stop. It's not really funny anymore.

I've been wanting to try Twist for a while but the location is small and I'm not good at waiting at the bar. I just end up less than sober, a touch sleepy and no longer interested in food. However, I went on Monday and my friend and I were seated right away. Unfortunately that's the only thing that happened right away, but more on that later.

The whole idea of Twist's menu is to take traditional Spanish tapas and fuse them with an international component. Based off the food I had, this idea worked well! I started with the mango sangria. It was perhaps the best sangria I have ever had. That may have been because I had two glasses while waiting ever so patiently for our food to arrive. It did take quite some time despite Twist not being really busy.Despite being slow as molasses with bringing out our food the service was still good.

We were starving when our food finally arrived, but it was worth the wait. The first dish to arrive was the Lobster Ravioli. There were six or seven over stuffed ravioli in a light sauce. They were amazingly good and I would have been content just ordering two more servings of it, however, my dining companion insisted on variety.

Second up for us was the bacon wrapped dates. Bacon wrapped dates are hard to mess up, but Twist managed to improve their offering of the dish by serving it with an exceptional red pepper sauce. I was slightly less interested in the bacon wrapped dates than dipping my bread in the sauce. I definitely recommend them.

Other dishes we had included the grilled skewered chicken, mini crab cakes, and jalapeno gnocchi. All were pretty good, but the one dish that I am still dreaming about is the Mac and Cheese a la Twist. As my thighs can attest, I'm a mac and cheese junkie. I love the stuff, and Twist knocked it out of the park with theirs. Their mac and cheese is cavatappi pasta served with yellow and red peppers, bacon and Monterrey jack cheese. Trust me, order this and you will be happy. You will disregard the wait. You will zone out and go to your happy place. You'll nervously glance at your dining companion whenever they reach for more and then greedily place the majority of mac and cheese on your plate. Well...that's what I did.

I definitely recommend Twist if you're looking for a tapas and want to try somewhere different than the usual places. Your tummy will thank you.

I went here the other week on a "date" or something that could possibly be described as a date if you were feeling really picky and technical.

Only I was a total asshole and was running late because...I'm always late. But I digress. When I got there my date/friend/technical date if you're being picky was all, "You suck and are late so I ordered for us but we have similar tastes so I think you'll like what I picked."

    And here's what he picked:

Baked Goat Cheese - I think it's required by law for every tapas place EVER to have this on the menu. Of course, it's also fantastic, so I'm totally okay with this.

Bacon Wrapped Dates - These were served in a sort of red pepper sauce and were rich and savory and fantastic. There's another tapas place that does bacon wrapped dates that are stuffed with GOAT CHEESE which are way better. But these were still awesome.

Stuffed Mushrooms - I'm not a mushroom person. They have a fantastic taste but a bizarre texture that I just can't seem to legitimately enjoy. These were stuffed with spinach and like, 4 kinds of cheese. Cheese pretty much makes everything better, so I had no problem eating these.

Lobster Ravioli - I want these for lunch every day for a week. Because they are effing great in every conceivable way.

Unfortunately my friend/technical date and I were "THOSE PEOPLE" which means we were the last two people in the place at closing time. So we scarfed down our food, downed our drinks, and hauled ass because they wanted to get the hell out of dodge and we weren't gonna be the people to keep them there.

But it's a super cute little place with awesome food and really nice staff. So I'm saving that last star for the next time I go there and actually take my time eating.

I've been here many times with my 2 bf's (best friend and boyfriend) and each time has been phenomenal.

Besides the hard to find parking, tiny size of the place, wait to sit down, and that you'll probably have suck it in REAL hard to squeeze into the tight seating, it's perfect.

Their sangria is my favorite- not too sugary, great alcohol content, light in taste. I usually try to stay away from flavored sangria but these are truly delicious and not too bad on the pitcher size. The food is a little pricey but I have to say that it's all worth it. Everything is wonderful. I introduced tapas to my boyfriend, who would have otherwise never cared to know about small plates, and he fell in love.

Baked goat Cheese, jalapeno gnocchi, bacon wrapped dates, and my personal favorite, the poached pear dessert.

    To die for.

Ps- The Sangria doesn't taste potent but I think it's secretly deadly. I do recall the last time I was there with my bf and things got a little out of control... like the alcohol gave me a sudden urge to be spanked and him having to ask me sit in my seat. This is your warning.

I would come back to Twist over and over again if for no other reason than the Bacon Wrapped Dates.  But let me start from the beginning...

The atmosphere is nice.  Twist is pretty small inside and only a handful of tables outside but it's a very cute and comfortable atmosphere.  I had heard that it can be a bit noisy inside and tough to get a table on some nights but we didn't have a problem.  I went on a weeknight around 7pm and every table was full for awhile but as the night went on there were only a few other people left.  Our server seemed a little indifferent towards us at first but she warmed up as the dinner went on and she ended up being really nice and chatty.

For drinks we had some red wine which was good and the Peach Sangria which was actually very tasty and I'm typically not a fan.  For dinner we tried several things, all of which were fantastic, but I'm listing them in the order of which I enjoyed the most.

    1.  Bacon Wrapped Dates:  Seriously, do I have to say anything more than "bacon"?  The only thing that could possibly have improved these would have been some sort of cheese because, well let's face it, cheese makes everything better.

    2.  Pumpkin Ravioli:  I'm probably going to drool on myself for the next two weeks every time I think about them.  They were soft, buttery, sweet, and pretty much just melted in your mouth.  Totally fantastic.

    3.  Mac and Cheese a la Twist:  Yum.  Who doesn't like Mac and Cheese.

    4.  Chicken and Chorizo Casserole:  Spicy and flavorful, excellent with the bread that they bring to the table at the beginning of the meal.

    5.  Caramelized Banana (dessert):  Strangely enough, dessert was my least favorite part of the meal.  It was ok, definitely would satisfy a sugar craving, but I wasn't blown away.  I would definitely try one of the other desserts next time though.

Twist, I will be back.  :)

For me, Twist wins the title of  "most intimate tapas dining experience." Not a very large space at all, Twist does not resemble the Ba-ba-reeba / Sangria / Cafe Iberico's of the world.  It may seem odd since a tapas outing usually involves lots of sharing, chatting and sangria swilling. Does this make Twist a dead fish?  Not in the least.

I returned to Twist for the second time on Friday night to celebrate a fellow Yelper's B-day.  We only had to wait about 10 minutes before the five of us sat down amidst a sea of dates ( a very intimate and date-y place indeed). First on the agenda: sangria (well, refills.  We had already ordered a pitcher at the bar).  The sangria here is FABULOUS.  Order the red!  Normally, I do not go for sangria at all (I often find it to be too fruity, sugary and not conducive with my high drinking tolerance aka "the wooden leg").  However, Twist's sangria is so, SO good.  It has a wonderful flavor, fresh fruit and a distinct alcoholic punch.  Me likey.

The ordering  of the actual tapas stresses me out a little since I want to order EVERYTHING on the menu and I also want a taste of everything ordered.  This time, I shot in my two cents, shut my eyes, and hoped for the best.  Good thing I was with some expert diners!  Every plate was flawless.  The jalapeno gnocchi was my favorite just ahead of the bacon-wrapped dates.  The beef tenderloin was melt-in-your-mouth buttery.  Excellent execution all around from flavor to presentation.  I could eat the banana dessert everyday it was THAT good.

Why not a five-star rating?  They forgot to bring us bread until mid-meal and the host gave me the willies.  Will I be back?  Absolutely.  Food this good needs a home and my belly is just the place.
