My favourite place for breakfast in Greenwich, out of the oven bagels smothered in too much cream cheese, what more could you ask for?
Whenever I came home from college this would be my first and last meal before heading back to Europe. Â Whatever about New York bagels, these have always been my favourites.
Upper Crust? They aren't kidding over here. I guess they feel they don't need to go the extra mile because of a Greenwich location. This place does the bare minimum without any frills.
The bagels here were decent, soft, and fluffy but they were not very warm. Freshness is not their forte, I assume. The cream cheese selection was pretty limited. I guess this is what happens when you leave NY in search of bagels. A fool's errand.
The young lady at the counter wanted to be anywhere but working here. On the plus side, they had bathrooms, plenty of tables, and parking in the rear. One has to assume that there are better bagel places in CT but it's remarkable how dramatic the drop-off is once you cross the border.
I love this bagel place. The only reason it doesn't give five stars is that I would like to see more breakfast options. You can get a bacon and egg sandwich on a bagel, or any variety of bagels and cream cheese, but that's about it. However the options for regular bagel sandwiches and coffee are excellent. This is a great local place to eat, and the bagels are made the old-fashioned way.
Review Source:I have a friend from college who lived around the corner from this place, and I have the best memories of stopping in for these bagels when I visited her. They're fresh, good quality, and as I remember, still a little crispy in the morning. I stopped in when I was in the area one afternoon last week and picked up a baker's dozen because I hadn't had these in so long. They were still good, though they didn't have that crunch - that slight crunch without even having to toast it - that I remembered. Great flavors - I picked up plain, sourdough, salt, honey wheat, blueberry, and more - and really good cream cheese. It's whipped, but it has a little more stick to it. Upper Crust is really more like a 4 1/2 star place. Five stars as I remember it (from getting crispy bagels first thing in the morning) and four for my last visit, where I went a little later in the day.
Review Source:I am not a big bagel person but others who are do appreciate and enjoy the bagels here. The sandwiches are good and I love to get one to go and take it to Tod's Point to sit on the beach and enjoy the solitude.
It is clean and neat. Â It has a very nice selection and is always friendly. Â Every place in life can't be five stars but this one is a sturdy and reliable three. Â The school kids LOVE this place.
Upper Crust Bagel Company is in the heart of Old Greenwich/Riverside, CT. Good bagels but I think this place is definitely overrated. I've had better bagels at Bagel & Deli and Brueggers. I was a bit put off that they didn't have Jalapeno cream cheese! It's a great little place, they have seating inside and a good selection of bagel sandwiches (haven't tried the breakfast ones yet) but I think in terms of the actual food it's pretty overrated. Not to mention I paid $10 for two bagels, toasted with cream cheese..? Seriously? I could've bought a half - dozen bagels and a tub of cream cheese for cheaper.
Review Source:Another hometown favorite. One thing that this place (DMV area) can not do is bagels. I stick to the saying of "there's something in the water" because up north you can get a great bagel. Extra doughy and crispy in the right places, super fluffy cream cheese and TONS of different flavors. Best breakfast sandwiches in Greenwich BY FAR. There are lines to the door almost every time you go but you never notice because the service is so fast. Bagels are great even if the don't have anything on them...simply perfect.
As for accommodations, there's street parking as well as a private lot in the back of the building that people don't know a lot about. A few tables inside for picnic style eating and park benches outside for a good spot to snack. Cheers!
I love this place. Â Their bagels are always fresh and they have lots of cream cheeses to choose from. Â They have a large bagel selection too- I always go for the salt or spinach ones. Â I particularly like the Walnut Raisin Cream Cheese. Â
They also have these sugar cinnamon twisty rolls that are awesome.
Before I stumbled upon Upper Crust I did NOT like bagels - indeed shocking i know! - NOW I LOVE BAGELS! This place makes bagel sandwiches like no other.
So you have to wait for them to serve the long queue, who cares... these bagels are worth the wait - I dream of them on my way to beach before I stop in and grab one.
I second Zach's opinion.
Upper Crust does bagels right. Â They sell probably 15 kinds of bagels, including granola, blueberry and whole wheat. Â They have probably 20 kinds of spread to put on the bagels. Â And they have about 25 unique kinds of sandwiches they can make on the bagels, too.
The bagels are great and the variety keeps it from getting boring. Â Seats here are usually all filled, so it is usually just for takeout. Â And the coffee is nothing unique either. Â This place is just about bagels, bagels, bagels.
Upper Crust is without a doubt the best place for breakfast in the Old Greenwich area. Â Their wait staff is courteous but often overwhelmed. Â Its worth is evidenced through the massive amount of people that often congregate in the bagel shop on weekend mornings, waiting for breakfast. Â Their bagels are delicious, and combinations like the OG are great for breakfast.
