I'm not sure why this place gets a bum rep. I've never had anything but good service, good food, and a full stomach from Verona.
Their sandwiches are *really* good. That is... if you're into Italian sandwiches loaded with ingredients then grilled to perfection on a panini press... I know I am.
Their pizza was pretty good, but not the best I've had... There's so much pizza in Chicago, after all. The place is very small, so don't expect to go there and eat. It's a take-out or delivery place first, a fine dining establishment second.
In all, it's worth trying, but not necessarily worth craving/going out for. I just wish they delivered west of western.
I needed something to eat after my little shopping excursion and thought it was the perfect opportunity to try some pizza here. Â I got in the little restaurant, and found my hunger got the best of me and ordered a slice of the pepperoni pizza despite how bad it looked. Â I would have been kind of embarrassed to walk out and order pizza across the street at My Pie. Â I should have done that because the pizza did look like it was in there for a while kind of dry and oily and crusted over. Â I know, why did I eat it?! Â I suppose to confirm what I already knew, and it's my own fault for hoping that it was only that looks could be deceiving. Normally when you are hungry everything is supposed to taste great, but it didn't so that's how I knew it wasn't good. Â The slice was close to $3. Â I'm sorry to say that it could have been better spent some place else. Â They do offer burgers, salads, pastas, and other items. Â I just don't care to try other things if you are supposed to be a pizza place that's what I'm here for and they have to be good because that's supposed to be your specialty. Â I think this place is going to find it tough to compete with other pizza places being much better.
