I've been here 4 times. Only one of those times was not terrible. If there was half a star..that's what I would give this shit place. The owner guy is RUDE, not only to his customers but to his employees! I've gone to a LOT of hookah bars in my day, and this place is one of THE shittiest places due to service, hookah, and ambiance. They've got like ONE fucking fan for the entire place too. Never again.

I come to this place every couple of months and their hookah is consistently good.

Owner, walid, is a very friendly guy who cares a lot about his business. He gives me a loyalty card everytime I'm there but I forget to bring it the next time...

They play Arabic music which is not too loud and have wifi so overall nothing really to complain about :)

I've given The Village a couple chances, one of the first times going there the owner was a huge creep, he forced my friend to stand there and give him her number even though she said many times she was in a relationship. Not only that it took a good 15minutes for them to even take our orders and another 20 for them to even bring it out to us!! That is not all, their hookahs tend to get harsh often when you ask for them to fix it they blow you off and just say, "oh you just need to get use to it", how do you get use to harsh, I smoke hookah to enjoy it and relax not have my throat burn the whole time

As for flavors they use some cheap brand and their "exotic" flavors are from Starbuzz which every other hookah lounge I know uses and does not charge extra. For coals they use normal barbque coals which is horrible for you with all the chemicals, it causes you to get a headace, I also believe that is what makes it so harsh.

If you leave seperately they try to charge you double by lying saying nobody paid before!! That is so stingy!!! I will never go back to this place again!!!!!!!!!!

The service was pretty bad.. Wasn't even busy at the time but nobody helped with coals and we had to do most of the work ourselves. Harshed my group's vibe, you know?

Awesome atmosphere and great service. Not sure what the complaints below are about. I've been here 10 - 15 times and have never experienced an issue.

Sigh......what isn't wrong with this place.  Well let's start off with the service, There have been two occasions where I brought my girlfriend over since we both smoke.  When we got seated, it took over 20 minutes for someone to finally come over and give our menus.  yeah, our fucking menus.  Then it took them about 15 minutes to come back and take our order.  Now on the menu there were two different kinds of Hookah, one is regular and the other is tropical iced.  Getting the tropical iced hookah is like getting the 89 gas pump in any gas station, its just bullshit cold hookah which doesn't make it any better than a regular.  Plus it costs about 18 dollars, so we got the regular for 12.99 and a couple waters.  I had a friend coming over just to talk and chill but what happened was that the manager (God I hate that guy) comes over and tells us that he had to order a hookah if he wants to stay.  Now thats just dumb, maybe if he was alone and just loitering around ok I can understand that but if he is meeting people and isn't interested in smoking why can't he stay?  Its not like he is gonna steal shit.  And speaking of the manager, I have heard alot about how he would usually flirt with every girl wearing the prettiest skirt.  Well he came over and started to be friendly with us and proceeded to talk to my girlfriend for awhile, I finally told him that we want to be left alone and that we would call him if we needed him.  I was acting rude towards him but his reaction looked like I made the most rude comment to him.  The other occassion I came over was when I took my gf and her friend and the manager remembered us and instead of bothering my gf proceeds to bother her friend.  He asked her if she wanted to come to the back to drink Hot Cocoa with him.  not only is that creepy as hell but it got really annoying.  He left after he saw some other chick that he liked.  While we were smoking the hookah, it tasted good but then after 10 minutes we felt nauseous and sick, probably because of the coal they were using which is cheap burn your lungs off coal.  After we were done, the total came out to a little over 20 dollars.  Not too bad, I have heard stories about him swindling people by upping the bill a little too much than what people ordered but after those two experiences over there we had enough of that place.  As for the atmosphere, its was dull, and the pleather couches were not comfortable at all.  I remember I was able to smoke cigarettes in there because they had those fans that blow the smoke out, they tell me I can't smoke cigarettes.  It doesn't make sense but whatever I didn't want to fight about it.  All I have to say is the food was ok, some mediocre, its pricey, the manager is a giant poon hound, the coal nearly made me vomit.  Do not go there, just don't.  You'll do everyone a favor by not giving those guys business and just let them die off slowly so that maybe if they run out of business, something better will replace it.

This place is amazing!  They have a really nice atmosphere. Plenty of really nice seating and they keep it clean.  I've been to several hookah lounges in south OC and a lot of them are dirty, dark and gloomy. This place has great varieties of flavors, and the owner is fantastic!  He's very personable, professional and incredibly welcoming and so are his staff members. By far my favorite lounge.

HORRIBLE! So many things wrong here. Came here with friends and stood in front of the hookah sign. We were just staring in the the room waiting for someone to hopefully sit us down. 7 minutes roll by and we were like "lets just sit down and wait for someone to notice we need service" we wait an additionaly 5 minutes even after I waived at one of the employees to come. took him another 5 minutes with menus. Let me say that it was not even that busy either. All the employees just hanging in the back. We look at the menu and apparently they advertise the "12.99" deal for the cheap brand hookah. If you want starbuzz or anything good, they charge about 18 dollars. so we decided to check out the 12.99 deall. we waited exactly 25 minutes....and no hookah yet. While the wait we noticed that they brought coals to other people and the coals were horrible. They don't even dish out for the Coco coals. Only those cheap coals that are super horrible for your lungs. and provide little to no taste in hookah. don't burn my hookah PLEASE!

We left and went to hookups.

I hear so much talk about the village how they get in trouble for letting underage people in and that they only provide excellent service if you bring hot girls in skirts so the owner can play around with them. What the heck? this is horrible. Never again.

We came with a few friends. Got two hookahs. Me and my friend ordered only two teas. We all leave together. Everyone pays for the hookahs they ordered and drinks. He says $31.00 to us. We choked. EXCUSE ME? We only got two teas...
Suddenly the Owner is yelling I'LL CALL THE POLICE IF YOU LIKE AND LET THEM HANDLE IT IF YOU WANT GIVE ME $31.00. We said but we got two hookahs (our friends did) and they paid. WE WATCHED. we did not have a third hookah. As we tried to explain this he kept interrupting and screaming he will call the cops so we paid and left... Never liked this place to begin with ... The hookah is gross.. The owner is gross... And the way they do business is just appalling.

Outstanding service.  Great hookah.  The double apple was great and I loved the fact that the bowl holding the tobacco was actually half of an apple.  Pretty innovative and it made the taste quite unique.

A nice hookah joint. This is the first time i've been and it wont be my last. They have a nice variety of hookah flavors and they also have a premium blend which will cost you a little extra. They have a small selection of food and drinks. They have free WiFi and they have music playing constantly. It's a great place to relax if you enjoy hookah.

Clean. Great Service. Amazing hookah flavours. Go with the Exotics and let your server mix something special up for you.
Only downside is that they don't have a lqiuor liscece yet!

I first came here during a friends birthday and it would only be my second visit to a hookah lounge. Ever since my first trip, i've been back on and off for over a year and the service has never seemed to falter.

The service is friendly as the staff always engages you in a conversation; the owner does as well. As soon as you walk in you immediately notice all the ikea furniture - unless of course you haven't been to ikea, and if you haven't i suggest you go.

The fans are always circulating and the door kept wide open for the smoke to clear out. The whole room is dimmed to give you a more private setting, furniture is spaced out perfectly giving each group their own space to talk with one another.

They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from and you can either choose the standard hookah which you can mix two different flavors or you can go with the exotic which is less harsh and can be shared with three friends instead of two.

They also have a food selection you can order from. I have personally tried the chips and salsa which is generic, but a great snack to munch on as there is a rule of outside food. I've tried their humus which is quite delicious and it is usually served with peeta bread, though at times if they don't have it in stock they serve it with plain baked bread which i personally don't favor. I've also tried a sandwich, but have nothing really great to say about it - it's just a sandwich. Sometimes you have to urge them to bring the waters out as they sometimes forget you had ordered it.

There are playing cards and board games in the front office that is available for anyone to use, but it seems the cards always run out as the patrons always have managed to snag it before my group could. I suggest bringing your own form of entertainment.

The music is usually set to the mainstream sounds we're used to hearing on the radio, but is sometimes changed to middle eastern music if it's been asked by a frequent customer.

All in all i've always seemed to have a good experience here and would recommend that you try it. Try the Honeydew + Mint combination, you won't be sorry.

I've been coming here for a few months and I have to say the place is amazing. The staff are incredibly friendly and personable. They take the time to get to know you and are always open to conversation.

Now, while service is one aspect of course it comes down to the hookah! They are wonderful, and fairly priced to boot. They have a wide selection and use high quality tobacco that just keeps on going, staying smooth and smokeable for hours.

They tend to play hip hop but if you have a request or iPod, they are more than willing to play it, also they sometimes show sports if there is a big game on.

Overall my experience here has positive and I will continue coming for a long time to come.

Several of my closest friends in college were Persian and Middle Eastern so we used to go to several hookah lounges around O.C. quite often (especially when we were not 21 yet).  This place would definitely fall into one of my least favorite experiences.  The guys who work here are polite and hard working, don't get me wrong.  But they are definitely understaffed.  This poor guy was running around from one table to the next trying to get people their hookahs.  I don't even want to know how it gets on a busy night.  We had to ask for coals both times and waited for a while both times.  We ordered an exotic hookah that was raspberries, blackberries, and mango.  It was decent.  But for some reason both my fiance and I got sick (nauseous) within 10 minutes.  I don't know if it's because there is not much ventilation in the place and all of the hookah smoke just lingered around or if it was the tobacco.  Both of us have had hookah so many times and never experienced the feeling.  We tried hydrating and eating some chips to help but it didn't.  We were only able to stay about 30 minutes (15 of which I couldn't even hold a conversation because i felt so sick).  At the end of it all, I paid $32 to have a crappy date night and go home feeling sick.

Also, they need help decorating this place.  It feels like they plopped a bunch of boring cheap pleather couches and chairs around a warehouse and put some plastic plants in corners.  Not cozy or relaxing at all....

I have been a customer at the previous location for years, and I was so excited when they opened the new indoor place. No more skipping hookah because of cold or rain! The hookah here is great - it's the only place I will smoke anymore. The flavor is good, and it doesn't get harsh like other places. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. They try very hard to make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable. For the other reviewer who said someone was "creepy", I have never gotten that vibe. In fact, I know that they run interference for me and my girlfriends when we come here, because they know we don't come to be hit on. I also appreciate they come by every so often and smoke from the pipe to make sure it's still hitting. Lots of places just drop off the hookah and don't care if it gets harsh or not.

Village hookah lounge beats out a lot of the other OC hookah spots because of the ambiance.

There aren't a bunch of 19-year old kids in plastic chairs ordering cup-o-noodles and smoking hookah cuz that's all there is to do for kids under 21.  I appreciate seeing the older crowd with the nicer loungier furniture.

The hookah was nice and smooth, the staff came around with coals frequently.  I still think I prefer Caspian's hookah lounge if it wasn't so busy.

I was honestly not impressed. I love smoking and went with a friend because our regular place is closed on Wednesdays. I don't know if I just had a bad first experience or if this place needs to evaluate the quality of their staff. Usually when I go to get hookah the manager of the place will be friendly, attentive, sometimes funny, but most importantly CHILL. When my friend and I arrived the man at the door immediately started flirting with her for about 5 minutes. We had to ask if we were going to be seated and if we would be able to smoke. We started getting a very creepy vibe from him at this point. Long story short, he ended up sitting in her chair and chatting me up while she went to the bathroom and making me feel generally uncomfortable. If we wanted to be aggressively flirted with, we would have gone to a bar. This was a girl-talk, catch up chat kind of night and I even told him that I hadn't seen her in months. He didn't take the hint and continued to sit with us when she came back from the bathroom (thereby forcing her to switch seats). He then took the plastic cover off the the pipe, took a drag, and then offered it to her. She declined and set it on the table til we could get rid of him and put the cap back on. We both later decided this was gross and would be the main reason we would never be visiting again. He just assumed we would be ok with him sharing spit with him : / I don't even do that with hookah's I've had in my home at parties. I always give each person a little "condom" in case they want to use it just to be polite. First hookah place that I've ever been to where I can say that I left feeling irritated and fully unrelaxed.

Finally, a decent hookah lounge in this neck of the woods. Their hookah smokes well and is very thick. I'm not a fan of the half-apple bowls, and much prefer the ceramic bowls, which they don't have.

The interior is nice, although a bit sparsely decorated. It could definitely use a few plants or indoor trees; something to make it feel less like a large room with couches pushed against the walls. The chairs are small and very uncomfortable, but the couches are fine.

The vibe in here is pretty mellow (lots of people just relaxing with a couple friends or using a laptop), but I have to admit I've only been here a few times and only late on week nights. There is some background music but it's never intrusive. You don't need to yell to have a conversation like some other lounges.

The charcoal service is a bit slow and on several occasions we've had to wait quite a while for the guy to reappear from the back with fresh charcoals.

I feel like this could be a really awesome place with a few tweaks, but for now it's just a-okay.

Sister of the VIllage Cafe, But this is only a hookah lounge with sandwiches and drinks.
Hookah is still the best i have had just like The Village Cafe and the sandwiches are awesome also!
There is a smoke shop inside that sells the tobacco and hookahs and accessories.
If you are looking for an awesome place to hang out and smoke some excellent hookah you have to go here!
