Lazy employees aren't good for business.
In general Village Inn has predictably good if not outstanding food. We have eaten at this particular Village Inn many times in the past, and have had no particular complaint. But tonight we went for dinner and had a totally unacceptable experience.
The first indication was that we had to wait quite a while before a hostess seated us. (The restaurant had only a handful of customers). We were shown to a booth and given menus. And then we waited, and waited. I asked my wife if she knew which was our waiter. She said- It looks like there is only one, so he must be very busy. And we waited. A waiter walked right by us several times, and didn't even greet us or look at our table. And we waited. I said to my wife- The next time he comes by we should say something. My daughter said: He won't be coming by for a while, he is sitting over there behind you. It had been 15 minutes waiting. we decided to leave. My daughter was right. the waiter, the hostess, and a third person were sitting at a table, chowing down, and chatting away.
Based on the norm at Village Inn... one of the three must have been the manger...
incredible. Well, luckily there was an iHop up the street. They'll be getting our business.
I know there are good breakfast places but today it was just about being together as a family. Â Went to the cemetery as we do every Memorial Day. Â My mothers birthday was on Memorial Day. Â I go for my son and dad because it's important to them and for me I don't need the grave site to talk to my mom or other family members.
Sorry I got off track. Â Back to breakfast. Â Village Inn is not my favorite but it is pretty standard food. Â However this one was really not great. Â Coffee was awful. Â Bitter and so I decided to not drink it and have my water. Â We waited a long time after ordering. My dad ordered his usual. Â That would be a well done waffle. Â Oh wait their waffle machine was broken. Â Ok he ordered pancakes. Â I had eggs and toast. Â Another bummer the toast was cold. Â That was too bad because the bread is usually good. Â
Oh well as I said we went there as it was convenient. Â No problem we just won't go back.
Waitress never refilled our water. My dad asked for his pancakes last (likes to eat his omelet and not have cold pancakes afterwards) but they brought them out with his omelet unfortunately. I used to really like this place, and the food is still decent. But it was slow, and I was unimpressed overall. I won't going back any time soon.
Review Source:The food is decent and of the same quality as Denny's. Â
I was hesitant to order the Crepes Lorraine but it turned out to be pretty good. Â Scrambled eggs, hickory smoked bacon and onions, covered in Hollandaise sauce, melted Swiss cheese and tomatoes.
Coffee was average so I will opt for OJ next time.
