There is a reason this place is getting all 4 and 5 star reviews. I almost hate to add to the fever... Because it may mean we will have an even harder time getting a seat at the bar!
Hubby and I have been here a couple of times. We order a drink and almonds at the bar and then find another place to eat in the area (I will put reviews out for Candlelite and Rub BarBQ soon). However, next time, we may just stay and order a few of the plates they serve here.
On to the drinks! I can watch Cody make drinks all night. This guy is a master and really knows his craft. He will also answer all of my annoying questions I have about anything cocktail related. So far I have had an Aviation and a Corpse Reviver. Hubby had his Manhattan and his Brooklyn. I plan to work my way through the whole drink menu. If there was a good hotel nearby (which there isn't!) I would be able to get through a few in one night... But alas, we will have to go back many times to savor each drink.
.....hmmmmm... I look forward to savoring every one! Just leave two seats at the bar for us.;-)
Fabulous cocktails.
Fantastic pickles.
Friendly bartenders (mixologists?).
On Howard Street.
Yup. So, there's a Popeyes and a bar named "Tally-Ho" across the street, but Ward Eight lies within the boundaries on Evanston... and it is encouraging to see how busy it is. We stopped in for a quick drink early on Saturday evening, and there were several parties waiting.
Some things to know:
- The space is small.
- The food menu is a bit limited. (I came hoping for an In Fine Spirits replica, but their kitchen is so tiny, that I needed to readjust expectations).
- Â Here's what you do upon arrival: Open door, come in, sit down at a table (menus are already there). Peruse menu, THEN go up to the bar and order your food and drink. Someone will bring these out to you. I saw this obnoxious lady sitting in a corner waving her hands, arms, and menu around, trying to get some attention for 5 minutes. Don't be like her.
- The French 75 is divine.
