What a great experience! Perfectly situated near the water, the location is great. Decor and lighting really set the tone for a great evening. The servers were wonderful- they knew plenty about the wines we were ordering, were incredibly attentive, and really made the experience awesome. Arrived around 8:45pm on a Saturday and there were still tables available, but by 10pm it had gotten considerably busier. Their wine selection is vast, and they offer the perfect 2oz serving size for those of us who want to enjoy many different wines rather than one or two. Also, the live music (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) was great - perfect song choices for a place like the Cellar, plus some throwbacks. I'll surely be recommending this place, and I hope they're around for a long time.
Review Source:I went there for the first time the other night with a friend. I loved the food. I haven't been to a wine and cheese place in years. The service was ok but the man that I think was the manager must have asked us 5 times if all was ok. I got the feeling we were being rushed, it was a Friday night. The music was good, I will return.
Review Source:Having never been to the old Wine Cellar on Main I can't say how it was. But I've been told that the new Wine Cellar has a nicely more open floor plan. To this I say -Good job. We stopped in on our way back from dinner with friends and were drawn to the guitar music and the crowd inside. While a guitarist was picking a tune that any forty-something would know in the front toward the window, we saw the bar set deep inside along the right hand wall. Across from the beer and wine only bar are some pub tables that invite groups of two or more to congregate and have idle chatter. Also along the left side and more to the front are more comfortable seats with bench seating and tables.
We are suckers for live music and are drawn to it like rats to the pied piper so we really didnt mind that the drinks were on the more expensive side- Â Two rieslings and a beer = $28.00. However, the atmosphere, live music and stimulating conversation make this a cool place to hang out, drink and have some tapas.
As someone who is not a connoisseur of wine, this is the perfect place for me. Â They serve 2 ounces of their wine (as well as 2 larger sizes) and it allows me to try all types of wine without regret and to discover what kind of wine is more my taste.
Under new ownership and with an opened up space, it's a more inviting and less stuffy crowd then the old scene. It's start to really fill up around 630/7pm on the weekends, but the pleasant friendly staff works hard to serve you while you wait for a place at the bar or a table. Â Even when its crowded, it still feels intimate. Â All age groups seem to flock there and blend nicely together. My favorite part is the charcuterie to snack on while wine tasting and they even have a menu complied of a few local Northport restaurants that will deliver food to the Wine Cellar to dine on.
Happy to have found a local new classy place to go out to with my girlfriends or my husband.
The Wine Cellar has seemingly risen to the top of the Northport night scene. With a great menu and a relaxed vibe it has done so with good reason.
Ambiance: The Wine Cellar On Main fits in perfectly with downtown Northport and deserves to be a main stay. The place is no doubt a gold mine as it is consistently crowded with a 30-40 something crowd. Live music and a Manhattan like lay out make this a very classy wine bar. 5/5
Food: On the tapas menu is a choice of cheeses and cured meats. The cheese menu is just the basics like Brie, Cheddar, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Gouda, and so on. Nothing that will blow your mind. Same goes for the cured meats, that being said everything is good. My one recommendation is to accompany the cheese platters with some toasted bread! Also on the menu is a participating restaurant menu that features dishes from other local restaurants like Maroni's. 4/5
Drinks: The menu is split up in an organized manner that makes it easy to pick a wine based on your taste. The list features around 20 whites and 20 reds. Also on the menu is a good amount of beers. It is a good selection of wines from around the world mostly bottles ranging from 2008 and up. 5/5
Service: Everyone is kind and helpful. Although the establishment is seemingly always busy you don't have a problem getting someone to help you. I haven't came across anyone with a seemingly vast knowledge of wine yet however, maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. 4/5
Leagues ahead of the previous location with similar charm, but friendlier service, larger seating area (lost the wine store), much better prices and a better menu (albeit still very limited, but I dig the meat and cheese selections!).
Big fan of the $2-3 pours to taste a few different wines before settling on a favored glass or bottle. Â Also a pretty nice selection of craft brews which I am always looking for. Â Knowledgeable staff always willing to make suggestions or share their expert opinions is always helpful.
Definitely drop in for a glass of wine, brew or light snack.
The Wine Cellar on main is simply awesome. They have 40 selections of wine by the taste, glass or bottle. All of the wine i have tried have been stellar so far. They said they would be rotating wines by the season... so looking forward to trying the new pours. The beer menu is a selection of local and domestic micro brews, which are phenomenal.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell ownership has put effort into teaching their staff about the wines. If they don't know specs about the wines, they will always ask to make sure you get the right glass to match your palate. The sommelier has picked wines off of my palate knowing what i normally like and gets it every single time!!! Amazing!
Great wine, great beer, great tapas menu, music and art are showcased by local artists. Dine in option from local restaurants is also available including Maronis and Main St Cafe. It's a fun place to go where everyone is appreciated.
This place has been renovated and is under new ownership, and it shows! A great selection of wines and beer (a few on tap, more in bottles ). Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good atmosphere, perfect for small groups or dates. Cleanest bathrooms in Northport - I felt like I was in someone's house! And they have a couple of TVs for sports.
Can get pretty crowded on weekend nights, so get there early or late if you want a seat. Otherwise, standing at the bar is not an uncomfortable option.
Also, they just started "serving" food. It's actually a selection of local restaurant dishes, delivered directly to the wine bar. Probably the fastest place in Northport you can get Maroni or Rockin' Fish.
And they have pretty good live music on Weekend nights - usually a local acoustic or cover artist. Heard a great Led Zeppelin cover when I was there. Not too loud, though, it didn't drown out any conversations.
