Wine Madonna is my favorite place in town to enjoy a great glass of wine. There's always good conversation, making the atmosphere warm and welcoming even when stopping in alone. Â I have never had a bad glass of wine at Wine Madonna, and have been a regular (at least one visit per week) for almost two years. The bar tenders quickly learn your taste and always have a great suggestion.
Several times a month there are great tasting events with a great variety of wines. Â Some of my favorites have been wine and cheese, wine and chocolate as well as pairings with local chefs.
Many of the wines at Wine Madonna are wines that you can't easily find other places, making it totally worth your while to visit to try something new.
Stop in for a glass of wine at Wine Madonna, and you won't leave disappointed- and will probably gain a new friend or two!
You have to be proactive to get service, but this is a nice place to just enjoy a couple glasses of wine with friends.
This place is kind of hidden. Â It is right next to the Ale and Witch. Â I was really worried as I was walking through the noisy crowd outside of Ale and the Witch, but once I reached Wine Madonna and made it inside, it was a lot more bearable. Â It is cute inside, not really big, but beautifully decorated. Â However, the Christmas string lights are a bit of a weird touch, because they are all different colors. Â Maybe if they were just white lights it would go better with the decor.
You can order some finger food with your wine, but don't expect much from the presentation. Â We got the almond swiss cheese and got a basket of saltines in little packets, a basket of pretzels, and the cheese was still in the container. Â It might have been nice if they opened the container and put it on a plate to make an attempt at presentation. Â However, at $5 I'm not complaining too much.
You can also order flights of wine, which is pretty cool. Â You get three glasses of wine to compare. Â They are smart and give you a strip of paper that indicates which wine is which, so you do not forget.
Like I stated earlier, we had to keep going up to the bar to get service, even though there were 5 of us at the table. Â It was a little cumbersome, but not horrible, since the place is pretty small. Â It also might have to do with the fact that it was a busy Saturday night.

Review Source:I'm still undecided about this place. We've been several times now; our first visit was great. The bartender (not sure of his name) was very friendly and chatted with us about the wines and gave us small samples to try before we made a decision on what glass to get. But our visits after that just weren't the same and on our most recent visit, we felt the bartenders ignored us to chat up more regular guests; one woman even looked us in the eye as we attempted to flag someone down and then ignored us. It was frustrating and disappointing. We have had a pleasant conversation with Madonna and she was very accommodating and welcoming, but it just couldn't make up for how snubbed we felt by the other server. We'll probably come back - they do have an excellent assortment of wines and the prices are reasonable - but most likely on a slow evening...and hope that we'll get more personalized and friendlier service that way.
Review Source:Very disappointing. Went for a celebration on a very slow night, While the wines were excellent, the server seemed a tad over his head and inattentive. Oh, and $10 for a "cheese platter" that consisted of pre-packaged saltines and pretzel sticks served in paper cups and a store-bought package of cheese spread? I think not. I'm sticking with A Taste For Wine. Sorry.
Review Source:I am so happy to have Wine Madonna in downtown. Â The ladies who own the spot are warm, welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and make you want to come back here often. I felt like I had been there 100 times on the first time I walked in. It was so inviting.
The place is small, intimate, comfortable lighting and is connected with a huge outdoor patio with Ale and the Witch. The courtyard is something very special. You can grab amazing beer there, wonderful wines from around the world here and listen to great music outside under the stars or have a great chat inside the bar.
I highly recommend popping in here. Â Wonderful wine flights by the way and in no small way do they pour lite here. That in itself is a rare treat!
Cheers to Wine Madonna, I hope they stay in the Burg for a LONG time!!
