Four visits in seven days. Â Yup, I love this place! Â
The view is spectacular like Shore Club (even better, some might say) and the space is open and nicely decorated like Beachwood (even nicer, some might say). Â Haven't tried any of their food yet, but drinks have been great -- easy-drinking wines on tap, great local beer selection, and interesting cocktails. Â It's split into two rooms -- the one to the right of the entrance has the best ocean views, and the one to the left houses the DJ booth (no dance floor though). Â Friendly staff. Â Friendly patrons. Â It's pricey for OB standards, but worth every penny.
You gotta come here for the view! Â I don't know what the place was before the remodel, but this version 2.0 is just fantastic. Â And it's divided into 2 separate grand rooms, but everyone likes the grand room on the right because it faces the beach.
My girlfriend and I shared their crispy coconut chicken strips (with the white sauce - delicious!), their steamed mussels (in a broth of lemon, spinach, garlic, and something else - still so delicious), their steamed kale salad with garlic and lemon (I'm making this at home, so good), and I had their firebird sandwich - it's okay, but to call it firebird and put all these hot things on it, it shouldv'e been hotter.
I had their vodka mule - nothing to cry home about, in fact, a little weak -- I make better cocktails. Â Decent beer selection. Â
You go here for the people, the company you keep, some of the food items, and definitely the view.
Anybody know about their Sunday champagne brunch???
This is a new place in OB that took over Nick's. Â The restaurant has a nice layout and some really great tables for large parties. Â I came with a group of almost 12 people, and the server was great. They seem to be known for burgers, but have a decently extensive menu from appetizers, salads, some nice entrees, sandwiches and burgers. Â The restaurant has a very aquatic, underwater-like ambiance maybe related to the mermaid on their logo but the restaurant is SO dimly lit it's really hard to see. Â My friend and I weren't really hungry and decided to share something but nothing was really jumping out at us as super appetizing. Â We settled on splitting a burger of some sort (I tried finding their menu to tell you the name of the burger but I can't seem to navigate the overly fancy website that has no menu) and some waffle sweet potatoe fries. Â When our food arrived, it was an ordeal determining who's food went to whom because it was like a cattle call. Â The restaurant is a bit loud and so getting everyone's food to them took a few minutes. Â When our waffle sweet potatoe fries arrived they were cold. Â Cold fries are never good. Â Of course, we requested new, hot ones and our waitress was more than happy to exchange them. Â Unfortunately, even hot they didn't really improve in taste but we had to eat them, because we weren't willing to wasted $3.50 on some waffle fries. Â The burger was around $14 and came with no additional sides. Â The seem to a have a decent beer selection although neither of us drank but several other people at our table ordered beer. Â I'd probably have to give this place another try but based on my first impression, it's a decent go-to but there may be other places that will definitely beat this one out.
