This place is awesome.  We accidentally stumbled upon it and we could have not been happier.  The food is mind blowing, the prices are fair and the restaurant is clean with great service.  Love it!!!

Run of the mill Thai place. Good food, but nothing special. I'd recommend it if you're in the neighborhood, but wouldn't go out of my way for it. The chive dumplings are delicious and my favorite part of the meal...definitely worth a try.

We got a groupon for this restaurant since we live in the neighborhood, and have been wanting to try out this new dining spot.  We have been to MANY different Thai places in the city and the suburbs, and we have to say, this place ranks at the top of our list. We were happily surprised by all of the flavors, as well as the presentation.  We had Thai iced tea and iced coffee to drink, two soups: the Tom Yum and Tom Kha, and the green curry.  Everything was outstanding. Also, this place is really clean, unlike nearby Ben's Noodles. The food blows Noodle Zone and Ben's Noodles out of the water! We really hope this restaurant sticks around.  It is a welcome addition to the Andersonville/Edgewater neighborhoods.  We took off one star only because we weren't big fans of the music choice...but that is an easy fix.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!  TERRIBLE ADVERTISING PRACTICES.

We (2 of us) purchased the $40.00 Groupon today for YAK Thai; made our reservations as instructed on the Groupon; and tried to use it, but were not successful because we were told "it was not our intent for 2 people to use the $40.00 Groupon, it was meant for 4 people to use it".

We showed them the actual Groupon ad online (see attached pics) via our iPhone to prove to them (waitress and female behind the counter) and were still were unsuccessful because we were told again "it was not our intent for 2 people to use the $40.00 Groupon, it was meant for 4 people to use it".  .

Be warned of this establishment.  They do not honor their advertisement as advertised on Groupon.  It say's nothing on the Groupon site that 4 people are required to use the $40.00 Groupon vs. 2 people.

As a result, we had to pay for our meal this evening and now stuck with this Groupon for which we do not ever want to use again.  Their food is delicious but their service and advertising practices are very shady.

After we got home, we immediately emailed Groupon and asked them to investigate this issue; notify all purchasers of the $40.00 Group for YAK Thai; and to refund our purchase price IMMEDIATELY.

I can't get over it.  Everything from here is beyond amazing.  Dining on the sea scallop madness that was just delivered to my apartment.  Last week I had the duck.  Everything from Yak Thai is absolutely outstanding!

After two years' absence, my return to Chicago has been punctuated with small surprises here and there. Therefore, upon returning to this corner, I realized there was a new Thai place (the old one's name escapes me, but it was not Mon Thai).

Which meant a bit of adjusting. Trying out the menu with a friend, I noticed a few things:

The decor is much nicer than it previously was, though feels a bit less homey and more formal. The food menu is less diverse and offers fewer items that I can't find at any other Thai place.

On the other hand, the curry I had was quite decent, and excepting the rather odd choice of pop music blaring over the radio, it feels much more professional? I think that's the word I'd want to use, but not entirely certain.

However, I have also had delivery from here, and the care they take with the delivery has always impressed me. If there was a question over the order, I'd receive a phone call to clarify, and the food was delivered in a timely manner.

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Chicago. It's very clean and quiet. The wait staff is friendly and the noodle dishes (my favorite) are great. I was a regular when it was under a different owner, but I like the new place just as much.

I wanted to like these guys because they are a new restaurant in a neighborhood hurting for great restaurants.  Alas, the food was just awful and it annoys me that a restaurant so new can already be so terrible.  I ordered red curry chicken and the fried spring rolls, my husband had the fried tofu and garlic tofu with sauteed vegetables.  Mine was so bad that I called and asked for my money back, my husband's was so bad he had to eat something else afterward just to get the taste out of his mouth.  The red curry sauce tasted kind of like ketchup, and the chicken in my dish was rotten tasting.  The spring rolls were flavorless, mushy and they gave us a tiny amount of sauce to go with them.  It tasted like they were frozen and had freezer burn and were then fried in old oil.
The proprietors seem like nice people and they were kind enough to have the delivery gal drive back with the $10 for my curry but still...when you don't care enough to have fresh chicken, it's basically a big F you to your customers.  As my husband so eloquently put it, they put the "yak" in Yak Thai.

I love this place.  The food is always good and the Tom Kha isn't too heavy, just right.

Get the Yak Noodle Delight.  Yum!  Don't be fooled if the attendance is low.  If you eat in, you'll see 5-10 people come to pick up the food.

    Nicely priced.

Very good food and great service! We ordered cashew chicken, crab Rangoon and potstickers.  All were delicious! Looking forward to going back soon!!

I'm not a big fan of this place. The chicken pad Thai was not all that good.  The chicken was dry, and there was an extra charge for the chicken.  The serving was not all that big.  Considering you can't swing a dead in that area and not hit a Thai restaurant, I probably won't be going back anytime soon.

FINALLY!  The Thai place up the street I'm hoping makes it!  Good food...have tried cashew chicken, curry, rice dishes...all very good.  Please try this place so it can finally be the one that sticks around!

My husband and I have tried the take out twice since they opened.  The food was very mediocre.  My husband did not like the pad thai and the pad kee mao was kind of soggy.  I also did't like that they have an up charge for adding Chicken, Beef, Tofu, etc. to a dish, seriously, just add it in the price.  It will work, but there are better options out there for delivery and take out in the area.  We were regulars at Mon Thai and were were sad to see them leave.

A big welcome to Yak Thai in Andersonville. Just ate here and loved it. I'm a Thai food freak and was happy to find that the previous owners of location are not related. The yak noodles are awesome and some of the best crab rangoon I have ever had. we need a good Thai restaurant in the hood and hope the locals will support this one . FYI- they just added lunch specials during the week!  When MHenry's wait is too long........... This is a good/ different alternative. Peace.

I was a pretty big fan of Mon Thai.  That being said, I decided it was time to check out this new place.  The service was great, and the ambiance was nice.  Dark colors and a big, fun menu made the experience more fun than not.  Admittedly, I didn't try too many things on the menu as a girlfriend and I were chatting the night away.  Prices are reasonable, and although I don't think the chicken was as good quality as Mon Thai, I liked it enough to go back and check out the other things on the menu.   It's is also BYOB, so I'd suggest it for a casual date night!

Great to have a yummy thai place back in Andersonville.  The noodle dishes have a lot of fresh veggies and good spicy kick.  BYOB is a plus.  Really peaceful, lovely decor.

Definitely a step up versus the previous Thai place, Mon Thai.  Every dish we had was better overall.  Very happy to see that we have an even better Thai restaurant along Clark St.

Yak Thai Cuisine has come in hot on the heels of the departing Mon Thai Cuisine to ensure we still have access to decent Thai food on Clark St in Andersonville.  I was always a supporter of Mon Thai, although I wasn't in love with the food.  This new incarnation features a sleeker, more modern room design and a much broader menu.  The food, in comparison, is much cleaner and the flavors brighter than that of Mon Thai's (for the record, we ordered the roti w/curry app, pad khee mao, and the yak thai noodle delight; all three were very good).  Despite having just opened last week, plates came out in a timely fashion and the single server/owner kept up with the pace of things.  She was also very sweet and attentive, asking our opinions about the dishes.  It's also, for the moment, BYOB.  I hope Yak Thai finds a healthy following in our little corner of north A'ville.
