Marko's Tacos & Cafe

Horrible!! Don't waste your time or money. The restaurant had a terrible odor upon entering and the food had the same rank taste.  Should be closed down immediately.

Okay, not as good as it gets for CHICAGO, but it's as good as it gets for this particular section of the neighborhood and I'm annoyed that Real Azteca has a better overall rating than its replacement. So, STARS!
Marko's is MUCH better than Real Azteca. Their food was kind of bland and not quite right. Maybe Andersonville people don't really understand Mexican food? This is about the closest I've found to your standard Logan Square taqueria without having to go much further north on Clark. The carnitas tacos are great!  The family that runs the place is really sweet and friendly. A good source for a cheap, fresh, tasty meal.

This review is for the Marko's Tacos on newport. we have eaten here 3 times, and have some favorites now.  the echiladas mexicanas de pollo was oustanding.  you cant get red mole dishes just anywhere, ya know!  these were perfectly prepared with TASTY beans on the side.  rice is also good.  the torta puerco en mole was also outstanding.  their barbacoa tacos are among the best we have ever had anywhere in our travels, tho we cannot say the same for the tacos al pastor or the chiles rellenos, sadly. we will happily drive down from edgewater glen anytime except when cubbies are playing!
