Yak-Zies pizza is as good as it gets.  The original owner, from Chicago, perfected this thin pan pizza.  We've tried lots of pizza in the area, most of it is very good, but this is the best!

This is a friendly, easy place to have a drink and pizza--a real neighborhood bar type of place.

To my surprise I found out that Yak-Zies Bar and Grill has Chicago roots in which there are two other Yak-Zies, one on North Clark and the other on West Diversey Parkway. They don't all have the same owner but they are, as one might say, in the same family of the originator who had move to Pompano starting at Yak-Zies at this location. However, if you think that the hot dogs or the pizza might be Chicago style, they're not. And though I don't know if there ever was a Chicago style chicken wing, those served here are traditional Buffalo style very much the same as those first originated by Teressa Bellissimo at the Anchor Bar in 1964.

The bar is somewhat on the divey side, but not really divey. It's a clean orderly well kept and organized establishment. Smoking is allowed and the usual customers tend to be in the 50 plus age bracket. As a testament to the good food and friendly neighborhood atmosphere, over 90% of their customers are regular repeats.

There is a pool table, some video game machines, lots of flat screen TV's, a very large bar, plenty of seating tables inside along with a good seating arrangement along the front on the outside.

The food really very good with a rather complete though limited menu plus a blackboard listing of daily specials. The best part of it, however, is the friendly, polite neighborhood nature of the place.

One very good plus about it is that it has plenty of free parking and another sort of nifty thing is a "Take one Leave one" little used book area.

Just re-discovered this place after a few months of being out of town. Wow: All new
TV's for the upcoming Football season too. The classic bar-food is still great, with the best wings outside of Buffalo, NY. Bring your laptop for free WiFi. Just found out they
will be celebrating their 10th anniversary, with a big bash on Sept 8th(a Sat). Sounds like a great time, with nice people too!

Chicago Style Sports Bar and Grill. Good atmosphere and food along with a pool table, WiFi and a Wii to boot.  Easy place to kick back and relax with friends.

Good Chicago place.  It borders on smoky gin joint, but it's got some really good pizza and they have a wii, so it's escaped that classification.  Nice folks run it and its an enjoyable place to kick back for a few.
