Best margaritas and nachos in town.

One of my favorite restaurants.    Shredded chicken tacos are my favorite.  My whole family eats here including my pickiest eater, my 10 year old.  It's not tex mex but these are good tacos, nachos, and related items.   Never been disappointed, give it a shote.

Drinks & band on the patio were awesome.  Great atmosphere, comfortable seats, average priced drinks.

We did not eat but the food that passed our seats looked great.  Seemed to be very popular on a Saturday night with a mixed crowd.

Cant wait to bring my husband.

After a long day of moving in I was excited by the idea of picking tacos up quickly at the taco stand. Turns out it isnt really a taco stand but a restaurant where they serve tacos. They had a good variety of tacos ( shrimp, chicken, pork, steak, fish) and I ordered 1 of each for about 23 dollars. They ended up messing up the order, but they all tasted good. I look forward to going back and trying one of their many other meal option.

After giving this place as second then third chance, we've decided it's just too much hassle for poor quality food and service.

The ordering at the counter bit continues to be a pain and, from overhearing other patrons, not popular at all...and when they're busy FORGET IT!  How about waiting 50 minutes for the tequila lime chicken nachos?  We are certain our order passed by us twice but apparently out silly little number wasn't big enough for the bonehead to see it.  After complaining and asking to speak to the manager, who apparently went into hiding during my wife's complaints...we actually called to speak to her from outside. Interestingly enough she finally emerged with a $20 gift card and outright told us their system doesn't work well when they are busy.

And about those bartenders. Two people is not enough to serve the drinks. Especially when they are not all that bright. Just can't figure out why they don't staff at least one area properly.

One would think, with all the complaints and a poorly designed system causing customers to have extended waits and receive cold food in the bargain, someone would get a clue and rethink this. Maybe the management team of "dip & shit" aren't smart enough to figure it all out.

Anyway, long whining session short.  Go to Grimalgi's instead...there's a good reason there's a wait....IT'S good food and you'll be served properly.

    Adios Yucatan Taco Stand

    3 out of 5!
This place is simply yummy! They have indoor and outdoor seating (outdoor seating limited) with the view of the Woodlands Waterway. The frozen lime margarita was very good, although I'm sure the strawberry or mango is even better. You order at the register and they give you a number. Your food comes to you! The cheese quesadillas are the same price as the chicken quesadillas, why? haha. I might as well get the quesadilla with the meat in it! So they totally lost out on a quesadilla purchase. I do have to say, my favorite item on the menu is deff the plantain chips (oh so GOOD!). I only gave it a 3 because I've had better mexi food :). P.S. this is not an authentic taco place.

I tried this place for the first time 2 days ago with a co-worker during lunch.  The tacos are delicious!  Two tacos are enough to have a nice, filling lunch!  I will definitely be returning.  This place is great to come during the evening hours so one can enjoy the patio which has lovely views.

Definitely one of our favorite 'go to' places on a weekend! The patio overlooks the Waterway, seating is very comfy whether you're lounging on one of the outdoor sofas or perched up on a barstool under an umbrella. Very casual spot.
Ordering is simple, go up to the cashier, place your order, pay, and receive a little table marker and your food is promptly brought out to you.
My faves at Yucatan Taco Stand are; Bloody Mary, appetizer of salsa, chips and chili con queso and the Latin Caterpillar Roll. Love all three!
A couple of times we've have ordered a flight of tequila which is like four tequilas served in shot glasses, with a Sangrita and Lime Sorbet to cleanse the palate in between tastings. I've save you the trouble in guessing which flight is the best, it is #4 and mainly because it comes with Don Julio Anejo 1942, the smoothest tequila I've ever tasted. No burn, just 100% smooth like amber silk. We liked it so much we bought a bottle afterwards at Spec's and serve it at home on special occasions. It's definitely a sipping tequila, not chugging type tequila, and don't need to mix it with anything to make it taste good, it's already fantastic.
Highly recommend this place, and look forward to coming back soon!

I'm not a fan of Taco, but i'm a fan of Magarita. They have the best forzen Magarita!
Most of the magarita i tried they were lemonade and a lot of sugar with very little alcohol. This is my must go place whenever i come to the Woodlands.

$6 for a jug of Magarita and $3.75 on happy hour is really a good deal. Besides that they have this HUGE big plate of Nachos for share. Go give it a try!

Excellent nachos and good fish tacos.  The food seems lighter than most tex mex places - not sure why, but it is good!

Nice outdoor dinning and plenty of TVs with sports.  Cold Mexican beer on tap and great tequila selection.

Overall a good casual place to go with family and friends.

The nachos are GIANT. One order is large enough to feed 3-4 people, and large enough for an appetizer for 6-8, so be warned!
The food is ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. I came here for lunch with some coworkers who are ga-ga about this place, and failed to see what was so fantastic. I've had their fajitas and tacos before via takeout/catering, and had been unimpressed with the food the previous two times as well. It's in a great location, they have an awesome patio and fun decor, but the food is what I'm going for, and I just can't give it more than 3 stars with it's blandness. I don't think it's that hard to make delicious Mexican food, but this place seems to fall short in my opinion.

Yummy tacos!! Very loud atmosphere. Large portions. I went with three of my friends, while 3 of u s had received our food, one of my friends still hadnt gotten hers about 15 minutes later. She asked a waiter who quickly brought her the one taco she had ordered. My friend complained to the manager and ge apologized profusely and gave her $15 in food/ drink vouchers. Big variety of tequila and yummy drinks to choose from. I'd definitely go again.

Just a weird concept. It's supposed to be some kind of high-end taco stand (which is probably an oxymoron) and tequila bar. The decor is nice, so we walked in and wondered where the host stand was. Figured out you order at the counter, and they bring out some beautiful version of your typical Mexican food. Since you order at he counter, the server brings your food and disappears.. So if you want to order a round of drinks, or a flight of expensive tequilas, you have to go up to the bar and order it. Very awkward setup. How many drinks will a person order if they have to get up and walk to the bar every time? The food and location are good, but the whole concept is just too awkward to enjoy.

I have to admit my feelings are mixed with regards to Yucatan.

Firstly, not sure who designed their system of food ordering, but my suggestion is just sit at the bar, you will save yourself the confusion of trying to figure out why someone isn't coming to your table to take your order if you happened to not step through their main entrance.  Plus the bartenders are awesome; many thanks to Justin, Layton, & Michelle.

Secondly, their prices (or well their alcohol prices). For food choices, here I'll cut to the chase, order the nachos $8.95 totally worth the price and really good. Huge portion, enough for 2-3 people in my opinion. But the $4.50 drafts, meh, go next door you'll shave off a full dollar and have quite a bit more to choose from, ha. And the $6.75 frozen mango margarita, awesome taste but the price again ridiculous. BTW yes I know they are a tequila bar the concept of having it on tap and cold is amazing, and the selection is plentiful I'm sure you'll find something you have pondered trying or have never seen.

The service has always been great, friendly staff, great bartenders. Maybe if I was a die hard tequila fan they might win my heart over but since I'm a beer snob I suppose there is no point.

The food is good but it's more about presentation than flavor.  If you've got money to burn and you like trendy places near the Waterway, this is the place for you.  The tequila flights just have enough tequila for a taste, I was expecting shots and was disappointed.

The hubby and I met a couple of  friends here for dinner before a concert.  It was the perfect pre-concert meal!!  They have plenty of options for vegetarians as well as those who like to eat meat.  My husband got a fish taco and the garlic shredded beef taco and loved them both!!  I got the grilled vegetarian burrito with whole wheat tortilla.  Very tasty!!!  I would definitely come back here.  Our friends both liked their meals as well.  Quick friendly service!

Started with the guac, and it rocked. The Empanadas Picadillo were crispy and flavorful. Chips were fresh and the salsa was tasty, but not overly spicy. I ordered the Brazilian Diablo Shrimp, and my wife, the Tilapia with Lemon, Leeks & Chardonnay Sauce. Wow. On both counts. The food was delicious, hot, fresh and fast! The table was kept free of clutter as we emptied our various dishes. I have to say that our experience was outstanding.

Absolutely love this place! It is a great place to have a margarita and people watch.  The manager was extremely helpful (and extremely cute!) and I really enjoy the food here.  Cant go wrong with anything on the menu-the pulled pork is to die for!!! Nachos are amazing to share and there are lots of healthy items on the menu as well.  Great place to come after work for drinks or with the family.  Beautiful patio for sunsets, groups,  and tons of fun.

This place sahhh-ucks!  We did a little bar hoping and made a stop here.  First don't be fooled - this is not a taco stand.  Second, the bar area is open to the outside which makes for A VERY warm place inside.

Soooo you order at the counter, got 2 sangria's and 2 beers.  They hand me a number sooooo one would assume that means they would bring me my drinks.  We sit and wait and wait - - I ask one of the employees if they will bring me my drinks and he shrugs his shoulders - - awwwwesome, thanks!  Finally we go up to the bar where our drinks have been sitting - our now warm drinks cause it was hot in the restaurant.  The sangria was blah and the beers were both warm.  We didn't eat here so I can't comment on the food - - someone near got the nachos and those did look uhh-mazing but based on the crap service I probably wouldn't go back.

Organized a group dinner here that was part of a convention held at the convention center. We were able to get a bunch of tables for about 10 people with no problem. Most of their tables are outside so be prepared. You have a nice view of the canal and fountains while you eat.

You order at the counter which is great for groups. I tried a fish taco and guac. The fish taco was fine. Nothing wrong with it, didn't blow my socks off. The guac was tasty, nothing I'm going to drive to the Woodlands especially for.

It is much more reasonably priced than many restaurants in the area. Great option for a quick dinner or lunch if you are in the area for a convention.

This place is not a taco stand and much less from the Yucatan. Its in the Woodlands and its your typical non-Mexican, Mexican food. The tacos are a flavorless meat pie which leave much to be desired. They also only have one hot sauce readily available for the eat-in patrons. Do yourself a favor and eat in town, you'll thank me later.

I would have given this 0 stars if I could. I ate there with my sisters. Uninformed/dumb girl took our order. Simple order, 6 tacos, some plaintains, and beans. We saw our tacos been walked around, tried to ask the server if they were ours. She was incredibely rude to us. Then we saw her realize they were ours, and had someone else bring them to us. My vegetarian sister got meat tacos, and when she told them that she ordered no meat tacos, they told her she was wrong and that she ordered the beef. My rice and beans came out after we tried to "eat" the tacos. The plantain chips came out after everything. Nice and soggy/cold. Even if the tacos had been good, still over priced. We didn't finish anything. Would have complained, but we wanted to get out of there.

Also, the flavored teas were disgusting.

I wouldn't go back if someone paid for my food AND gave me an open bar tab. Terrible food.

Really, all around a terrible experience. The exact opposite of a good dining experience.

I'm having trouble giving a rating to Yucatan, but I think "A-OK" sums it up pretty well.

The problem is that I can't point to anything that was wrong.  The food came out lightening fast; the meat was flavorful, the fish was crispy-crunchy, the tortillas were fine, and the guys at the counter were friendly.

Somehow, though, it all added up to something less than the sum of its parts.  I can't really put a finger on it, but I just didn't have that "happy glow" that a truly good dinner will give you.  I don't really have anything I can point to and say "there's the flaw!", but I can't really point to anything and say "that's the best!" either.

Anyway, I won't choose to visit again, but no hard feelings, either.

Great food and outdoor seating area write on the waterway close to everything!  Only downfall would be one small restroom that always had a line 3 or 4 deep?  Service was a little slow at the main bar as well..  Other than that the experience was very nice!

I really like it here.  I have eaten here twice and both times it was a fun atmosphere and good service.   Nice patio and the food, though a bit high in price but it is The Woodlands, was good.  I will keep coming back to this place. I am an admittedly finicky eater (don't tell anyone as I only admit it to myself), but this place hit the mark.  I had the burrito the first time and it was scrumptious, my wife had the nachos, bigger than my Buick (I had one in the 80's as a solid frame of size reference), and the second time the enchiladas, also quite good.  Next test for this place = The Kids.

Have been several times and it's always hit or miss. Love the patio so will probably continue to go back. Had the fish burger most recently and it was surprisingly good all around. Have also been consistently impressed with the nachos, but stopped getting the tacos as I've yet to have a good one. That's not a very good rep for a place that's supposed to specialize in tacos.

I was excited to try this place, the patio and set up is beautiful! Went there recently and wasn't very impressed. It's a bit confusing and when you order at the register the receipt request a tip... a tip for what? taking my order? I didn't realize
till later that they actually bring you the food & bus your tables. luckily I had left the minimum 15%. We got 2 shrimp tacos, 2 beef tacos, kids quesadilla and chips & salsa... $40 bucks... $40 dollars!!!?? the tacos didn't even bring rice & beans, they were al carte. Food is one thing I dont skimp out on.. if a meal is worth $100, I'll pay $100 with a smile on my face.. but that was way too expensive for taco bell quality food. Tacos were cold and tortillas were hard... they weren't very busy either. I personally, would not recommend this place- i am
pregnant so I might come back in 5 months and try their margaritas, but seriously doubt it...

only received one star because there is not way to give a zero rating.  I have visited this place twice now, and both time the food was bland and tasteless. the staff seems bothered that you are there.

the last time I visited i ordered a margarita that ended up tasting like a lime aid.  I asked the bartender about it and she explained how they made them, then offered another shot of the cheap tequila they use.  then charged me 6 dollars after she poured it.  she was VERY snotty and should rethink her career choice.

We will not be going back.

The food was delicious.  A must try are the grilled plantains.  We were going to order the fried plantains and the host said we should try the grilled (more authentic Cuban according to him).  He knew what he was talking about, they were wonderful.  The food portions are large and the margaritas very tasty.  They have a wonderful outside patio view a view of one the Waterway's dancing fountains.  Lovely setting to enjoy an afternoon.  Everyone was very nice.  Only complaint was they didn't bus the food off of our table from the previous patrons.  We had to find a bus boy and ask him to take away the dirty plates.  Also our meals came without napkins or utensils.  The food server went back in to get the items and we finally had to go inside to get them ourselves.  I can live with those things for the great food.

All if the bad reviews on here must have been from when they first opened and were working out the kinks. I have eaten there twice in as many days, and I dont have any complaints.
Day one the ordering process was super easy. The employee taking my order was knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions. I decided on the garlic shredded beef taco and the shrimp taco and a side of yuca fries. My friend chose the chicken taco, the shredded beef taco and chips and salsa. Their apricot tea is awesome. They delivered the chips and salsa before the rest if the meal, which was nice. The chips have a seasoning sprinkled over them that tastes like chili powder, salt and some other yummy stuff. Next time I will ask for extra seasoning. Most of the time at restaurants with this concept all of the food comes out together whether it is an appetizer our main course. The tacos and  yuca fries followed shortly and we were not disappointed! Everything was super flavorful and delicious. Our tables were pre-bussed appropriately which is a super big deal to me. I cannot stand to have dirty plates sit in front of me.
Day two I was craving their food so much that I made my hubby take me to lunch there. The service was fantastic again. Today I chose a chicken taco, chicken tortilla soup and yuca fries ( they are super tasty so I had to get them again). Hubs got the original fish taco, the chorizo taco and chips and salsa. Everything was excellent again. There was a definite standout though. The chorizo taco was one of the must delicious things ever made. I will probably dream about it tonight.
Give this place a shot. You will thank me later :)

You take the good, you take the bad, you take em both and there you have the Yucatan.

    The Good:
Tequila on tap, cold as ice. The bottles are in a freezer at one end of the restaurant. Hoses above the bar direct the Tequila to the taps. They have everything in Tequila ranging from an $8 shot to $125 shot. Yeah $125 for a shot. Not on my tab....

We sat at the bar and started out with the Latin Caterpillar Roll (flour tort, tempura shrimp, blanched asparagus, avocado, onion, tomato, and some kind of aioli, cut like sushi) and it was killer. We each had a cold beer and then I noticed Avion Tequila. I asked our bar tender if that was "THE" Avion from Entourage (Turtle) and he said "YEP". I didn't realize it was a real Tequila Turtle was pushing on the show. And by the way, it doesn't suck. This guy (forgot name. thx Avion) was awesome. He went in to a 5 minute presentation on the different kinds of tequila and why each is special. He convinced me that extra anejo (aged at least 3 yrs) is the best and I tried a shot. I prefer regular Anejo for the price. It's Tequila mind you, not a fine wine.

    The Bad:
You have to go to what looks like the hostess stand when you go to order. Every time. there was a party of 8 ladies next to the bar and every time one of them wanted a snack or their entree they would have to go to the POS. They were not happy about this and we saw a runner bring the wrong food to their table at least three times. WTF? Is there not table numbers on the ticket? Also, they do not provide a copy of what you ordered so one gal was like "I don't think I ordered this", and she didn't like what she had. The manager?? just told her that the order that came to the kitchen is what she received. She said maybe the guy at the POS station sent it back wrong and the manager said "maybe". She begrudgingly just ate her meal. She should have tried the Avion before she talked to manager guy.

    Result:
Keep the bartender, fire the manager, and have the wait staff or runners who stand around doin a whole bunch of nothing most of the time, take the flippin orders at the table.

Generously, this place has much room for improvement. Perhaps because they're still establishing themselves they stand to disappoint quite a few, including me.

During my 1st visit, some co-workers & i made our way into this congested bar/restuarant (don't know which one it is yet). Having been a server before, it's always assumed that younger servers lack punctuality. That assumption confirmed when our group of 6  (hardly a party) had several of our orders incomplete of many sort. Remember when i called it a happy hour? They had no convincing specials deeming it a worthy happy hour spot; & the waitresses (yes, plural: it took 2 waitresses to make repeated mistakes with our orders) seemed to lack knowledge of their menu.

The manager at the time was upfront & gave the impression of a caretaker; upon further speculation he was just a 'less talented title'. Accountability was summed up to a cheap 'oops' & nothing had rhythm during our visit.

If i give them a second chance it will be on someone else's tab. Plus, my coworker went back during the week & got sick from their food which pestered him the following day.

Their location is lonely, their food lacks originality, their service is inconsistent... try at your own risk.

*note* beware reviewers who give too many 5 star ratings... the same folks who waste this site rating fast food chains.

This place had some of the worst service I've ever experienced. To add salt to the wound, when we complained, all we got was "sorry about that." Even an email resulted in "thanks for your comment." It's clear they don't even care about their customers nor on improving.

The runners were constantly walking around looking for the right tables, and I still haven't figured out what their bar-ordering sysem is. Half the time the waitresses said we had to order at the bar and get a number, the other half they'd come around and ask if we wanted anything.

I won't be back, particularly with so many other Mexican restaurant choices in TW.

If you went here during their "soft" opening stage, maybe have a lil' compassion and not judge them for any mishaps? I'm willing to bet they were still getting all their ducks in a row! Since their "official" grand opening on September 20th, they now seem to have it together.
I say this because my boyfriend and I recently went for a Saturday lunch and our food was crazy delish!

Everything we ordered was super tasty - guacamole & queso appetizer, fish tacos, and the chicken chimichanga. I heard the flavored teas are really good as well.

It's a fast-casual type restaurant where you order/get a number at the counter and wait for a server to bring your food out to your table. Also, there's a really great outside patio that overlooks the Waterway/park with all the fun fountains.

Fun/unique part - really cool bar that opens up to the outside!

Walked by this place on my way to Baker Street with 3 of my friends.  Place looked nice and inviting.

We all ordered and 15 mins later only 2 of us had our food.  A manager came over and said they had lost 2 out of 4 of our orders.  Said it would be 3 mins until we had our food.  Only 1 more came out.  After 30 mins of total time waiting i gave up, asked SAME manager for a refund.

He couldn't figure out how to refund on my credit card.  Finally gave up and gave me back cash.

Abysmal kitchen service!  Seems the servers/runners dont have a clue.

They kept bringing us other customers food over and over again.

Food looks good and would have LOVED to try it.

Not sure if 2 basic taco's with rice and beans, etc are worth $13.00.  Would like to have seen some sort of lunch special.

Might try again in a few weeks after the place gets their employees trained and in place.

Maybe I  might have better luck for dinner when the staff is not so rushed.

    Well see....

Walked by this place a few days ago and thought it would be worth checking out.  Apparently they have only been opened for about seven days.  It has a surprisingly "open" feel, relaxed and casual.  The workflow is a little different:  you select from a menu at a register, pay, and are given a little tag that slips into these bamboo holders on the table.  Kinda cute.  It's only a little weird because I was not sure how to tip, so I went slightly under at the register, not sure what I was tipping for.  Should at least do 15% if not 20% or more, as the service later is quite good.  It is nice to just walk away from your table at the end though and not wait for the check etc.

While the check-in at the register was slow (I think she was still learning the system), Danielle, our waitress was fast and friendly.  Drinks came out (Monday night) in under 2-3 minutes, and water followed.

The regular rocks margaritas were really good!  Probably the fresh lime juice, or maybe the tequila.  Not sure, but I liked them a lot (see pictures).

We had the ceviche appetizer and it was super:  good quantity, and quality (I am picky about ceviche too).  She had a tempura fish taco, which was tasty and satisfying.  I had the pollo chimichanga -- awesome!  Seriously good, like wow backwards!

For a new place, I liked it.  Could be five stars, but I am always slow to give that sort of rating until I have been to a place at least twice.  Check 'em out for yourself, though.  The service and food were better than expected.  And that's always nice.
