This is by far the best Asian restaurant in town. After living in Hong Kong, I was finding it difficult to get something authentic without driving to Chicago. But now you just have to travel to Mishawaka to get delicious, authentic cuisine! One of my favorites is the beef ramen soup. When most people think of ramen, they have no idea the depth of flavor in this bowl. The taste takes me straight back to the markets and noodle shops of Hong Kong. The broth is amazing and very comforting. I remember thinking the first time that $12 for a bowl of soup couldn't possibly be worth it, but my fiance ordered it and couldn't finish his bowl! And he's a good-sized guy! The sushi is fresh and you get a LOT for your money at Zing! Every penny we spend is absolutely worth it, and I can't wait to take my fiance back for a belated Valentine's dinner on Friday night. Bravo, Jeremy, for creating a masterpiece of a restaurant!
Review Source:Though this place is in a not-so-incredible location, I really enjoyed it. The ambient was great, the staff was nice, and most importantly, the food was very fresh and tasty. We were very pleased to see the care they took on making our food look nice, all dishes had a very carefully arranged presentation.
They offer a series of deals depending on the day of the week, so make sure to check that!
Had to post this although a few months later. Was here for a birthday. Very enjoyable meal. I like Japanese and it was done well. It was also nice to be in downtown Mish. Instead of the grape road jungle.
What makes me write this is that Zing offers price specials that are rare for Japanese restaurants. This makes it a place for everybody to try if you want a new experience.
I finally had a chance to go back and try again with another carry out order a few times. The last couple times, everything was packed perfectly. The hot food was separated from the sushi and when I got home, everything was still the correct temperature. I've almost ordered through the entire sushi menu by now and all have been very good so far. I would give them an extra star for awesome customer service though, because the people who work here are really super nice and they seem to really care about getting things right.
Review Source:This place is delicious and has over 100 dishes!
I went right after they opened and tried a ton of yummy apps and sushi!
They have awesome specials too: Mon: 15% off sushi, Tues: 15% off asian fusion dishes, Wed: (formerly Ladies night) 10% off wine night, Thurs: students get 15% off any item. Â Pretty awesome deals.
A classic sushi roll is probably around $6-$9 and the special rolls will be around $14. Â They also have these awesome sushi platters that you can share with one other person or if you have a big group.
Their teas are also delicious and come in the cutest clear teapot with clear glasses. Â I am a big fan of the gyoza, sushi, mapo tofu, and japanese pancake.
I also love their selection of wines - I'm a major moscato person so if you are into that the Australian moscato they have listed is only $5 a glass so a great deal! Â This is a small place but they also have outdoor seating and very good customer service - doesn't take long to get your food at all.
Definitely a must!
I've heard great things about Zing and finally had the opportunity to try it for lunch last week. The restaurant is small, but nicely decorated. Â The placed filled up quickly for lunch. Â
The menu is huge and they have a great selection of teas. I tried one of the green teas, which is served in an individual pot with a candle warmer to keep it nice and hot.
My friend and I opted for the bento box lunches so we could try a few different things (chicken for her and steak for me). The lunches include miso soup (it was ok) and salad (cool, crisp with the traditional ginger dressing).
The bento boxes were pretty good; however, the sauce for the chicken and steak was more like gravy than a sauce and a bit of an odd taste. Â The steak was overcooked (well done as opposed to medium), but it was still very tender and served on a bed of sauted onions. Â The lunches also included three pieces of a California roll and a spring roll - both were good, especially the spring roll.
The bento boxes were priced a little high ($10 and $11) compared to other places, but did include a lot of food.
I will definitely go back as my husband loves sushi and they have a great selection.
I went for the first time today and tried 3 of their "classic rolls." Â Although light handed with the spice on the spicy tuna, I appreciated that it wasn't doused in sauce. Â The shrimp tempura was EXCELLENT. Â It melted in my mouth. Â My service was great and look forward to going back to try some of the larger rolls.
Review Source:Stopped in for takeout this evening, and everything I ordered was great! It's a pretty place and I look forward to coming back when I have time to stay for a meal. The man who took my order was helpful and friendly, and the order was ready in a very reasonable time. I'll be happy to come back.
